veg started at apical meristem creating the second node.
Probably would've been even faster if I had VPD in check, first leaf set seemed a little off, slightly dryer and flatter than what you'd expect of the first serrated set.
Humidity a little better but still not quite, sticking with 1ml/l canna for this week.
Topped W2D7 or D14
LST end of this week probably.
All six side chutes available are developing well, especially the first node
Exceedingly happy with this start.
She'll be scrogged and flipped once she fills out at least 50x50cm.
she'll get there in less than 10 weeks I hope.
From seed and admittedly I'm still very new to this at about two years growing,
And also not running any co2
She also seems to be slow in veg but compared to the ones shown in reference this one seems to be growing a bit faster, and was topped earlier.
From what I've seen this one won't reach a second scrogg, which I'll hang anyway.
Spraying neem weekly.
Sooo, broke of one of the bottom branches, so I took off everything from the bottom nodes, in hindsight I would've left the leaves since that would've helped with my second mistake.
I overfed slightly, I didn't notice any of the ill effects except that telltale sturdy leathery curled down leaf, without a doubt the lightest nute burn I've ever had so if I'd left those leaves I probably wouldn't have even had any.
Topped the two top branches on Day 27, left em alone for a day then softly started to LST them sideways after that I topped one of the node 2 side branches because it was further developed than its counterpart.
I've got a feeling this girls gonna be do a big stretch in flower, 5.5 cm internodes but I think this was a measurement of one of the higher up internodes, which aren't as developed as the lower ones, which by now probably maxed out.
Ideally I'd want an 8ish cm internode space with 6-7 cm tall nugs, esthetically pleasing to me and waaay easier to seperate than large conjoined nugs, which is not say I'm about to say no to a big yield big bat bud 😂
Some performance pics tomorrow they've been praying nicely
Cruising right now she's recovering and growing very fast.
Hesitating to top the 4 top ones tomorrow
at the last day of week 5 (Thu may 28th, day 35) because one of the bottom ones is still recovering, looking at the pic makes me question even more though as they might be just right by tomorrow.
Next time I'm probably just going to mainline as I'd wanted to go with 32-36 nodes but I now have 12 which puts me in the struggle of making the decision wether,
I'll continue with the all nodes and go for 24 which won't fill my tent fully.
Continue with all nodes, top to 48 mains and removing 12 to get 36 mains.
Or chopping the bottom nodes, incur the downtime and continue a normal mainline to 32 nodes.
Right now I'm liking how method two is laid out on paper, giving me a lot of veg clones.
My one and only grower acquaintance is probably gonn be big mad because the three cuts I gave him are already giving his mother a hissy fit.
And when he was over to pick up the first two he was eyeing this plant hard.
Cruizin.
Need to up nutes to 1.5 mil/l next watering.
Postponing further topping till fully recovered from repotting.
Transplanted at Day 40, Jun 2nd.
Didn't notice any transplant stress whatsoever, so I was able to top the necessary branches today D41, Jun 3rd.
Don't know how I managed it but I'm back on track for 32 mains, currently she's at the stage of being topped 8 to 16 mains
D 45 Waiting for it to dry out to up
D47 dried out, upped nutes to 1.5 and watered, PH 5.8 to 6.0, today was 5.9.
Moved indoors under the optic 120w bloom enhancer running by itself.
Hoping for a hundred grams at least but optic quotes more than double that.
Got two trellis nets in here at 30 cm above the pot and 40 cm below the light with a 20 cm spacing in between.
The lights flower distance is 30cm to 45 cm away from the light.
Next step is to go to 32 nodes from 16 or 40 nodes from 20 and removing 4 in that last case.
What I've seen from the zkittlebreath is that most yield small dense nuggets so most likely a bud every ten cm^2 would be best (36 nugs).
Might do some more sturdy training than bending, I've got some paper clips and rope laying around.
Unsure about that though as it is very symmetrical with some slight issues here and there.
I was hoping to not have to do such a comprehensive training.
This girl though clearly said,
"u wot mate none of that ere"
As such I've been forced to tie down the mains to save vertical space and put the tops in positions that'll more easily facilitate an even canopy, she was really dense and tall even topped two times.
You can really tell in the top down shot how long her internodes really are.
Though I didn't want to do this run this way due to inexperience growing in general.
I think it is good she turned out this way as it really forces me to double down and learn how to get that full even canopy with plants that'll fight you on that issue.
This one will definitely be a good learning experience.
I've got the training worked out in my head atm so it's just hoping it translates in practice this time round.
I'm debating wether I want to start a journal on some original bruce banner already or wait for my new light and tent to get here first as I had wanted to do.
Day 49, it just dawned on me this is basically a mainline now.
Thus concludes week 7
Not much to say tbh, starting week 8 now.
Banner diary is delayed some because the new light still isn't shipped.
Updates throughout the week as usual.
Oh, temp in the description is an average, im actuality it fluctuates from ~24 to ~28.
Humidity kind of fucked atm but not so low that it causes big issues, I bet she's a bit slowed though.
General climate control, humidity and temp in a closed loop is up next on the list of upgrades, for that optimal VPD always.
The way I'm going to do this is, have the two 2x2s I have now and one 2x4 which is a part of that upgrade all vented to each other in a loop with two extraction fans 300+ m^3/h each powering the airflow.
Then another extraction fan 385m^3/h?? that will be the one actually pulling air out of the tent when it reaches 28°c~ as a max.
Also a humidity controller hooked up to a humidifier/dehumidifier to raise/lower humidity.
A closed loop would also mean I would have to substitute co2, with exhale 365 bags when I finally find an eu retailer.
Otherwise having the exhaust fan at a min speed of 20% should solve intake of enough co2.
But at that point it really isn't a closed loop system anymore.
If you see any issues with this system, which there are probably a number, please do send me a quick message 👌🏻
Oh lawd, shits 31 degrees C right now.
Heat waves haven't even hit yet.
She's dealing with it like a champ tho.
This training is dragging on waay too long so after moving her to a colder spot I'm going to flip her into flower immediately.
I'm at 24 nodes so I should still get a decent yield, I maintain I could've gotten 36 nodes in there comfortably though.
So I guess I'm still chasing that full canopy action, no matter, I'll get there eventually.
Stretching this week 3 days because I'll be flipping on day 59 of veg Jun 21st.
Suddenly she's actually developing side nodes pretty well so I might still get a more decent canopy than I expected, although it probably won't be very even and have some empty spaces here and there.
Plants are receiving light from 23:00 to 13:00 to at least try to keep temps in check.
As you can probably see in the pic I performed some HST on the outside branches, more for height than width.
I got a little waft of some lime ish scent while training them so that's a good sign this early in flower, or rather, late in veg.
She recovered from the HST beautifully within the same day, now I'll just let her stretch through the net.
Temp fucked, humidity fucked.
Her day will from here on end at 10 am instead of 1 pm and will start at 8 pm instead of 11 pm.
Filled up my ghetto humidifier and I'm going to need to swap out towels tomorrow.
With week one now done it's looking like I set her up okay, the way she's just been championing through the temps and humidity lately is amazing.
I'm really surprised at the canopy I was able to obtain.
I'm thinking about 75% of the canopy is filled right now.
She'll really have to deliver on the product this one because in terms of growth structure this is far from what I'm looking for personally.
Like I said last week she's been very temperamental to train.
Can't wait to see her start to bud in the next few weeks.
Temps are looking to be better the next few weeks and when on a good watering schedule humidity goes above 50%.
I've just been bending branches that shoot above the canopy down.
I still need to update the measurements of length and distance to plant.
Lollipopped on day 11 (Jul 2nd)
the amount of lollipopped space down below is about 30 cm(1ft)
With this light I think I'll be aiming for a half foot(15cm) to a full foot(30cm) of canopy depth.
Getting the top sites as close as I can to 30 cm below the light so I have the top 15 cm of canopy at the most efficient distance for this light.
Optic LED recommends a spacing of 30 to 45 cm (1 to 1.5 foot) fixture to tops for flower.
anything further away than 45 cm will probably be fluff, but!
Anything fluffy will be left on and used for old school bottle pressed hashish.
My family, with exception of my girl will have to fight me for that hashish, it's been way, way too long since I had some good hash.
Plus there's no way I'm yielding more than a gram or two of hash from larf alone.
Plant height is measured from soil level btw, she's about 60+ cm pot included.
Moved the light up to 45 cm above the canopy again and I'm already maxing out on vert space, with only about 5-10cm remaining.
Switched the light cycle from 14 hours on to 12 hours on to be sure, she's leaning more sativa but she was initiating flower.
(Which I'm amazed I could even tell she was initiating bud development)
However having her re veg at week 5 would've sucked very much
So far the vibes from this run I'm getting is that I'm still nowhere near great or even good.
But I am, at least, slowly starting to get there.
Recovered from defoliating nicely.
Hoping she stops the stretch soon as she'll
be getting very close very close to the light if she doesn't.
Very happy with how the canopy and defo turned out.
Still stretching, OH LAWD.
She was 25 cm away from the light, that's lightburn just waiting to happen.
Got the two tents in series now with all the equipment in the larger tent so this light can literally kiss the roof, which was very much needed.
Canopy was looking a little dense in parts and the corners had nothing at all so I fixed that.
This really is turning into a very nice run for me.
Last defo day 21, I'll have the choice between a 45 and 30 cm deep canopy it seems.
I think I fucked up the defo, I think I took way too much fan leaves.
I left 3 fan leaves at least to the top of each main.
Might've defoliated a little too much, we'll see in the end result if I did, it was my first attempt at a day 21 flower defo.
Gave her a little less food this watering to account for the missing leaves.
I wanted to give her some kelp and seaweed but I have neither right now.
So I had to settle for a compost tea of Ecothrive charge beetle frass.
I brewed some inside a cloth napkin,
50mL/10L as to avoid extra nutes now, but gain the benefit of microbes, etc
Day 24 watering going to do a good "flush"
1.5ml/l nutes and a good 30% runoff.
I feel I haven't been doing a good enough runoff each time so I'll do this and then watch runoff more in the future.
Ecothrive charge amendment will have to wait untill next time.
I think it maybe a little to much, see how she goes. You will know for the next run for sure. It's all about learning what the strain likes and dont like. Cheers friend
Week 5 now, pretty much jack shit to do now but try to keep an optimal environment.
And it seems I'm not doing a very good job of it.
Idek what the issue even is, I've got some burn.
That I know from the burnt tips, but I've never seen this kind of yellowing, it started at the tips.
Now progressing further it also yellows from the leaf edge inward.
The issue is I don't know if this is just a burn symptom or another issue altogether.
I did recently flush at 1.0 or 1.5 ml/l nute strength, allowing for I think about 50% runoff, because I hadn't been keeping to the 10% runoff rule of salt nutes.
Gonna send another grow question to sort this out..
So I checked out that website one of the answers provided and it looks more like a copper deficiency or light burn.
Copper deficiency is pretty rare though since it's rather prevalent in tap it seems and It's also in charge and sensi calmg.
So I dimmed the light a bit since I can't raise it anymore, I also can't alter temps down but I doubt that's the issue, she was going through peaks of 32°c during week 2 of flower and didn't exhibit these issues then.
If I had lowered nutes first and it was light burn it would've gotten exacerbated.
If this doesn't work I'll lower nutes.
I've pretty much given up on a great yield and will now try to maintain for an adequate one.
I know I shouldn't but I've been rubbing some of the lower down sugar leaves and I love the smell.
It's a sweetly hashy, prickling your nose hairs lightly, type of smell at this moment.
My middle and top leaves are yellowing from the tip and edge inward, is this the nutrient burn or another issue altogether?
Runoff PH was 5.9 and ppm was 700.
