Growah First Grow Pineapple Auto 5 Seeds - Will be outdoor - Location: MA USA --- I decided to go with a custom soil blend for the Veg stage: Bagged Potting Mix, a Leaf/Grass/Coffee ground/banana peel/Worming casting Compost blend, and a very minute amount of Scott's Grass Seed Started fertilizer for a little extra nitrogen. I started germinating in my indoor greenhouse on Cinco de Mayo! (5/5/20) The seeds are germinating directly in my soil mixture. I ran out of small pots due them being needed for my food garden, so I just drilled a bunch of holes in some Solo cups for drainage and used those. Currently 2/5 have sprouted, after roughly 4-5 days of germinating. I'm planning to try topping on some of them, some low stress training, and I'll probably just let 1-2 of them grow naturally if they all germinate. I don't want to screw up all 5 plants! 😄 When I transplant them, I might try to put some in pots, and some in the ground to test it out..... Update 5/11 - All 5 seeds germinated

Growah 5/16
I ended up losing 1/5 of them. It was lagging from the start. On the plus side a neighbor dropped off 7 unknown seeds, so I'll just try to germinate them. I picked up a FEIT A19 grow light to supplement the light I was missing in the indoor greenhouse (by a large sunny window) because it has been raining here often. I've been trying to do a 18/6 Light schedule.
The weather is nice this weekend, and it's warming up here. I'm debating on transplant them. There was heavy and hail last night... Snow flurries a few days ago. Maybe I'll wait a little longer...
I also grabbed some bone meal and sprinkled a little on the top of the soil. I'll mix it in with my next batch of soil when I transplant. I doubt it will do much.
5/19 - Exactly 14 Days from Germination
Transplanting today in a custom soil blend. Compost / Manure / Rose / Bone Meal / Perlite / Rose Food / Grass seed fertilizer (trace amounts).... They are currently experiencing some transplant shock. Leaves curled on a couple. I did add a few ounces of water to each one, but after reading I found that I probably shouldn't have..... Time will tell.

Growah My girls grew quite a bit this week! Im happy about it. I watered 3 times over past 7 days, I like letting them dry out a bit then I soak the containers until they are full. I didn't add any nutrients this week.

Growah Not much went on this week. I decided to try to train them in 4 different techniques... As a first time grower.
My full watering is every 2 days, using a garden hose, soaking the pots until they leak from the bottom. I'm picking up the pots to check water weight and using a finger test to check top 3" of soil.

Growah On 6/3 I decided to try 4 different training techniques on 4 different plants. I didn't want to try topping them so I went:
1 - FIM
2 - LST
3 - FIM + LST
4 - No training
The morning sun currentlty first hits 1, 2, 3, 4... see 6/5 After training pic. (First attempt).
Same water schedule as last week

Growah What a week! We had a Microburst Thunderstorm roll in with 73 MPH winds for 5-10 minutes! I had 6 large trees fall during the storm! My outdoor cannabis plants survived! My #4 plant which if I did no training to and had no cola support was bent over. :( It recovered! TALK ABOUT STRESS TRAINING!!!!! I have added a weekly Scott's Rose Bloom regimen to them! I hope the storm didn't stress them too much because they started flowering the next day.
6/13 - Day 39 - 1 FIM...... 2 No Training..... 3 LST......... 4 FIM+LST
Has anyone else had their outdoor grow survive a mircroburst thunderstorm (73mph a few days ago), hurricane, tornado or other extreme weather?... Talk about stress training! I wonder how it will affect yields.
I've had a field of hemp take a beating to hail and it was about a 40% loss of the field about 3 weeks after planting clones, some came back but those that did had a rough time of it. That is about as close of an experience as I can think of to a microburst.
Growah I added 1/8 tsp per gallon, half recommended dose, of Flower Fuel (1-32-32 or something like that) on 6/21. They were starting to show some good Pistils. Watering every 2 days now with a 2-3 liters and i'. its been dry and 85F here for the past few days. I'll add the flower fuel each time I water unless I see issues.
Growah Thoughts so far on the overall my first grow ever...Weekly update below....I'm really impressed with the resiliency of these plants. They survived a Microburst thunderstorm, in the beginning of Week 6 Flowering, which toppled trees and I had limbs everywhere. The pots were still standing but each cannabis plant was laying flat on its side after the storm.
Weekly Update:
They seem to be loving the new nutrients. I have been adding:
2 Gallons - Water
1/4 tsp - Flower Fuel - 1-34-32
2 tbsp - Miracle-Gro Organics Edibles - 9-14-12
I've been adding about 1/2 Gallon of the nutrient mix every 3 days. My Cycle is: Feed, Water, Dry.... Although I only was able to do 2 cycles due to 4 days of sometimes heavy rain this week. My soil drains well so did add around a liter of my nute mix per plant after day 3 of rain to avoid a nutrient flush. I'll have to get an eye out for bud rot, the rain should be over for a few days.
I was adjusting the LST on one them that only had LST and snapped a top that had a few bud sites on, so I figured I'd do my first attempt at cloning. I wanted to understand the process, and am not expecting much growth out of it. I used cloning powder and a small LED grow light from the hardware store... It wasn't looking good for the first 24 hrs, but it has since begun rooting and growing. I removed the fan leaves from it yesterday and put it outside today after the rain ended.
Update: 7/2 - Day 58 after 3-4 days of rain 1 feeding of flower fuel only (see photo) Photo taken after 1 day of sun. - Tent poles used as support on non-lst plants.
I just had 4 days of sometimes heavy rain, 2 days in to it I added 1/3-1/2 my 3 day nute routine. We had 2 more days of sometimes heavy rain. Im in week 8 of an outdoor potted auto grow and I have 3 days of sun coming. Should I add nutes before they dry out? Bud rot from rain?
@Greeneyes2155, They're still growing, so thats good! I FIM'd and LST'd 1 out of the 4 of them that was already growing awkwardly... The leaves were twisted, and it was growing a little slower than the others... Now it's growing 6 colas with many bud sites and has 1/5 sized twisted (sideways, not curling) little stubby leaves... I think I'll name is "Twister". Ha!
