These plants are growing vigorously. There are three of them in total. The foliage is growing very fast and the roots are very thick, white, and healthy. I am thus far very satisfied with how these are are growing. My plan as an over-stretching preventive measure is to use the topping technique on the plants twice (four tops per plant). All three plants appear to be separate phenotypes described below: Plant 1: Noticeably shorter than the other two and has very small leaves. Plant 2: Taller than plant 1 and has very large leaves. Five blades per leave on node three. Seven blades per leaf on node 4. Plant 3: Slightly taller than plant 2 but comparably large leaves. Seven blades per leaf on node three. Nine blades per leaf on node 4. I have never grown nor smoked a Sativa dominant plant before so I am very excited and looking forward to seeing how this grow goes and testing out the final product! In the past I have grown Skunk #1 and Northern Lights from SensiSeeds without disappointment in quality and yield. Also, I have to give apologies to the viewers of my journal for the low quality pictures I have been publishing. I currently do not have a phone with a working camera and so I have resorted to using my laptop for taking pictures. But, I do hope to have acquired a new phone with a decent camera by my next grow! Your feedback and suggestions are appreciated! 🤗

At what height would you recommend initiating 12/12 to prevent this strain from over-stretching after topping each plant twice to produce four tops? I hope to finish them at 3-4ft. Would I get away starting 12/12 at 9-11 inches?

sativas are known for being able to stretch high, so 9 to 11 inches sounds about right to me.. eventually it always depends on the genetics and the environment, so it's a bit difficult to say, but what you said sounds quite plausible.. if you're vertically limited in space, then i'd rather err on the lower side.. she's looking great by the way! happy growing

The plants responded very well to the transplant last week. Within a period of only three days the plants thick white roots were protruding from the drainage holes on the containers in significant abundance. I did leave the grow light a little too low and accidentally leave my extraction fan's heat sensor on the floor of the grow tent recently and so there was a little heat stress visible in the pictures. My apologies! The girls have become ravenous over the last week! I raised the EC quite a bit. Very happy so far.

So, it's day 32 from seed today (2020-05-25) and the plants are doing very well other than a decapitation of one of the biggest plants tops. Unfortunately I was a bit clumsy. I know... 🤦‍♂️ I wasn't delicate enough. It's my first grow since 2015 😅 Oh, well... It happens! The girls have developed some calyxes and began forming their first alternate nodes towards the top of their growth. The growth rates are speeding up ridiculously now that the tops have themselves well established. The tallest of the two plants exhibited in the pictures was standing at 8.5 inches yesterday. Today she measured in at 9.5 inches!!!! 🤯 I'm planning on flowering once she reaches about 11 inches. So, I'm hoping to have an early August harvest! Likes, comments, and feedback appreciate guys! 🤗

Another week closer to harvest, guys! 🤤 I have finally initiated the 12/12 lights cycle and I am currently in the stretch phase. As those familiar with or sifting through my journal will see the girls have stretched considerably during the last week. The tallest plant has grown from a mere 9.5 inches in height to 17.5 inches in a matter of a week! That's like a 84.2% height gain. I have used some high-stress training (i.e. super-cropping) to encourage some side branching on the four tops and hey have responded very well and are growing exceptionally as you can see. I did wrap some grafting tape around the areas of the branches were this was performed as a precautionary measure in the even that stems have overlooked splits. Sometimes splits are not discernible until a few days and I just wanted to be extra careful. There were a few very small splits but nothing major. They recover fast 🤗 On top of that I did some pruning of lower leaves and a few odd undesirable branches. I did stop the other training early due to impatience. With this being my first grow in so long and all I am trying to speed things up a little. At an earlier point I was hoping to spread the four tops out a little more to prevent them from growing out so slant. Maybe I'll have more patience next time! I am using a metal halite lamp to reduce stretching as much as possible but I plan on switching to a dual spectrum HPS once the stretching slows down. Enjoy the pictures! 😍

As you can see from the pictures the girls have grown quite a bit. But I suspect they have stretched less than if I had not performed super-cropping to limit the stretch and promote some branching 😂 One of the phenotypes (the BBW as I refer to her) seems more susceptible to splitting when her main stems are super-cropped. However, her branches respond good and the splits are only minor. A little grafting tape and she heals quick with no effects on her growth or health exhibited 🤗 High resilience! This strain seems to respond exceptionally to training. So, if I grow this strain again I would ideally leave her in veg for an extra week or so just so I could also perform some super-cropping just before the stretch and have a little . One also has to wonder just how big the larger phenotype would be right now if one of her four tops was not severed out of my clumsiness a few weeks ago 🤔 Also, I have switched my 250W MH to a 400W HPS this week. I was previously concerned the 400W would cause too much heat but since I am using a different more powerful extraction fan than I had in previous grows I thought that testing it was worth a shot. And it turned out heat was not an issue and the girls are loving it 😉 I might give a better yield with it 👍 So, I am going to finish this grow with the 400W HPS! 👊 It's exciting to see the flowers are now beginning to develop and the when I approach the girls my nose is delighted to catch a tinge of that typical distinctively sweet early flowering aroma permeating the air. Mmm! 🤤 Delicious! Enjoy the pictures! 🍻 And don't forget to hit the like button! 😜

As you can see in the pictures the girls have stretched quite a bit more and are starting to produce nice buds. I think the stretch should begin to slow down soon considering they're entering the third week tomorrow. That delicious sweet earlier flowering smell is getting a little stronger. Mmm! Nom nom! It is proving difficult to squeeze them both into a single picture in the room I photograph them in. I may have to start only photographing them separately next week 😅 We will see how it goes! I hope to acquire some photography florescent lights and a seamless background for future grows. Or, make a DIY background. This would allow me to take pictures elsewhere in the house where backgrounds and lighting aren't great. There was a little heat stress visible on some of the upper leaves but nothing major. I slept in yesterday morning and the lights were a little lower than they should have been. It did make the pictures a little less attractive, unfortunately. Hopefully I won't be feeling so lazy next week. Hope you all enjoyed this week! 🤗 Don't forget to like!

Another week finished 👍 The stretch phase has finally come to a halt. The girls only gained about 2.75 inches in height since last week! 😅 Mission accomplished! They didn't go through the ceiling after all!!!! That typical mouthwateringly good sweet early budding aroma is beginning to peak 🤤 I still have a little issue with heat stress on the highest buds due to the lights being just a slight bit too close again the past few days. Should be fixed soon. Unfortunately, I may have to resort to only taking pictures of the girls within the confines of the grow tent in the weeks leading up to harvest day as transferring them without having resin rubbed off them is proving quite difficult. But, I promise to have some good pictures of them out of the tent on harvest day for sure! 👍 In the future when I have some budget photography lighting this won't be an issue since I can set up an area for photographing them close to the grow tent without the long hazardous journey. But it may be a few grows away! 😢 We'll see! I hope the GrowDiaries community is finding my diary helpful and satisfying to watch! Enjoy the pictures everyone! 🤗 NOTE: I should be updating this journal with a video that I took earlier within the next few days. My antidepressant has left me too tired to edit it today!

So, a worthy report this week is that I have made one little addition to my nutrient regime. And that would be Rhino Skin by Advance Nutrients! I should have used this earlier in growth to get the best results. But I thought I would give it a try anyway. I have also ordered some equipment for automated irrigation which will be up and running once the programmable timer I ordered arrives. That should be very helpful. I never had the confidence to set one up before. It's actually really easy 😂 Hand watering in Coco mixed with perlite is such a pain. With SensiSeeds reporting a flowering time of about 65 - 75 days we have either just hit or are near approaching the half way mark!!!! The buds have begun to fatten up and the gaps which were between them are filling in. From my vantage point the girls appear to be coming along nicely. Let me know what you think in the comments.

I have a little bad news to report this week... While waiting for my irrigation system timer to arrive I did not manage to sufficiently water the plants. This resulted in a raised runoff EC and the plants sustained some minor nutrient burns to the leaf tips. However, the most disconcerting news is that I have been using too low of a dose of GHE CALiMAGic the past few weeks. So I have run into a slight calcium deficiency meaning I have to bump the calcium back up until the end of flowering. I should have waited until the final few weeks before lowering the levels to such an extent. Unfortunately, GHE CALiMAGic will now be taking up a more considerable quota on the EC than preferable. Overall yield will likely be hurt ☹️ Very disappointing. I'll definitely not skim on the calcium next grow until much later into the flowering. I should have known better. Got a bit too confident. You live and you learn. One observation to note is that the larger phenotype appears to have been impacted to a greater extent by the low calcium. You can see the buds have swelled a bit since last week. Also, quite a few pistils have begun to turn orange. There's only a little over 3 - 4 weeks left until harvest! 😍 Can't wait! 🤤 I need a good smoke so bad! 🤗

I took the pictures for this post on my usual day of Monday but did not get around to making an update to my diary until now. Unfortunately there are another two problems to report this week 😞 The light ballast has been on 250W as opposed to 400W the past few weeks. Someone in my home must have been messing around with the dial on it 😖 So, some loss in overall yield would be expected. It appears that the ballast has been on the wrong setting for 2 - 3 weeks at least. Another problem which has manifested and presented itself quickly is some death exhibited at the top of two buds on one of the plants. I severed and dissected the two buds and no definate signs of bud rot were present. Perhaps it was in the early stages. No more symptoms have shown since then. I am hoping the rest of the crop is not infected and will be on the lookout for reoccurrence of symptoms presenting. There is no stagnant air to contribute to this occurrence but the humidity levels did get high for a period of a few days here and unfortunately I do not have a dehumidifier for this grow. That's a definite worthy investment for my next grow! This has been my most problematic grow so far. It is very disappointing to me since I have been wanting to grow this strain for a long time. It's important to note that the problems presented in this diary are due to my own errors and the conditions provided to the plants. The result from an impulsion to just jump straight into the grow without proper preparedness. I was overly enthusiastic and impulsive following those years of abstinence. The grower must show honestly and exclusively take responsibility for this *hangs head in shame*. Another update for this Monday coming soon!

There's not much to report this week. I'm still quite disappointed. This grow could have went much better had I been patient and made preparations... 🤗 I hope to have my final flowering update next Monday and a harvest within following that post.

I'm still having issues with symptoms of bud rot presenting on one of the plants and further amputations have been made 😢 Hopefully the more resistant plant at least survives to harvest (which is near approaching) so I have something to smoke myself 😭

Hi Buttlover i have the same shit with 1from 4 Plants . I have Black Lights Automatic from Sensi Seeds (NL #5 × Black Harlequin). I have 2 Colas with Budrott on 1 Plant . Maybe NL# 5 is a sensitive Strain for this mold.

@Bud_Spencer, Just made me realise I have the wrong humidity percentage on my diary the past few weeks 😅 Inattentiveness!
ButtLover
ButtLovercommented5 years ago
@Bud_Spencer, As a result of a recent leak the home the humidity levels have been overing in the 80s at times while the rooms dry out. And before the leak the humidity levels were still a bit high for the flowering phase. So, I should have ideally had a dehumidifier to begin with. But it is interesting to hear that you're having similar issues with Black Lights. What have your humidity levels been like?

@Budmarley2221, Thanks! The biggest one grew over an inch and a half since I posted those pictures yesterday 😂 She's getting me a bit nervous about height control 😅 She's a real BBW 🤣 I'll be starting the 12/12 cycle tonight so the harvest time should be somewhere around July 31st to the beginning of August. I'll be keeping an eye out for your journal update, bud! 👍

They're growing like wildfire 😍 I did kind of sever one of the tops on one of the girls a few days ago 😢 Other than that it's all going good. Almost ready to flower! Should be ready for harvest in August I reckon. I haven't grown a thing since 2015 so I'm really looking forward to this 😂
