Greetings readers, time for another diary. I had more fast flowering photoperiod testers to try, from Fastbuds. This is the seventh in the line, FFT7, which is indica, and flowers in about 45 days.
My previous grows (FFT1-5) were plagued with early low temperatures, and then just wasted sea of green failures. I am committed to doing better.
I germinated in a peat pod in a small cup of HP Pro Mix. My veg tent is 4’ x 4’ DIY construction. I have a 300 actual watt full spectrum LED and 1/6th of the same light, another 50 watts.
This is day 3, time to go!
Day 11 for FFT7, the seventh fast flowering photo period tester. Just water. I turned on the output fan - everything seems fine and temps okay since then.
Day 18 for FFT7. I just got within the timeline of transplanting. It was not happy with its ultra small germination container, but I had no room. I have now transplanted into a container of 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 part Fox Farms Happy Frog soil.
Day 25 for the seventh of the Fastbuds testers, FFT7. The new soil is much better and now its growing faster. I trimmed off any damaged leaf matter. I have a new veg. tent now which has two 300 actual watt full spectrum LEDs but hung a bit higher. Overall, temps are beginning to be a bit warmer.
Day 32 for FFT7. I trimmed all the fan leaves off again just before pictures as I’m looking for just straight growth right now. Just before I also fed 24-8-16 All Purpose Miracle Grow and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I will be monitoring nitrogen excess closely, but it should clear in time. At the end of the week I plan on uppotting.
Day 39 for FFT7, the seventh FastBuds tester. Just spent the week allowing the batch to soak up the nutes, and have only given a bit of water since. Not crazy growth, and I think the lack of warmth and finer details with this tent are showing. No matter things look good, nice and green.
Day 46 for FFT7. I had to wait all week before I would have a chance for soil, so I top dressed early in the week with blood and bone meal, mineralized phosphate, and worm castings, in a mix of HP Pro Mix. I overdid it a bit and suffered a bit of burn. I transplanted containers finally, a couple days ago. The mix was 30 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 worm castings: 1 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 1 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells. At risk of being cast out by BudXs, I sealed the top of my veg. tent in the rafters. I’m hoping to see a temperature increase in a day or two.
Day for FFT7. The green is getting much darker. I’m riding nutrient excess and so I need to be careful. Its expected with the amount of phosphorous I put in, but it increased with warmer temperatures. All in all, sealing the tent was effective. I’ll just monitor and flush if necessary. My flower tent is seeing a rough patch and so this tent got some ladybugs as a result. Hopefully, they can seek any pests hanging out. I am going to start a preventative treatment now that I’ve learned my lesson. The ladies have struggled to settle under 24/7 light, and usually are hanging out in crevices, but they are there.
Day 60 for FFT7. Things are looking good this week as the plant continues to benefit from good temps and reduced pests. I went a step further this week and sprayed with Safer’s potassium based insecticide soap which also applies a foliar potassium feeding. Healthy and on the upward trend. I think cloning will come next.
Day 65 for FFT7. Lets get this show on the road! My additional prevent is delayed in shipping so just reapplied more Safer’s Insecticide Soap. I also washed out the HPS tent. Things are looking good. No more defoliation based on internal thread conversations. Last shot is the group in the new tent with my camera flash. My lights come on at night now, I don’t expect that drastic a change in my basement.
Day 72 for FFT7. One week of flowering complete, about six weeks to go. FFT7 is listed at forty-five days so I could also say 7/45 days complete. Looks good, lots of stretch.
My neem oil arrived so I applied a light coat in conjunction with more potassium soap mixed with water. Did not go heavy, very light prevent treatment.
Immediately after the weekend last week I mixed a compost tea which steeped overnight. I took 2 cups blood and bone meal, 2 cups of alfalfa meal compost, 2 cups worm castings, one cup Myke Flower mycorrhizae, 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses, and mixed it all with 20 liters of water. I pulsed it with a concrete mixer/drill periodically all day and left it overnight. The next day I diluted and watered, aiming for 10:1 water to tea. A bit strong for the FFTs as it was meant for vegging plants, but thats okay as I have already applied water again.
My lighting setup is a 600Watt VivoSun HPS. Shout-out to the boys, Hellishjam and BudXs who deserve a cut of my ‘likes.’
Day 79 for FFT7. Two weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. Like the rest, super tall and lanky. Excited to see what will bunch up the stalk. Its been given water, but before that this week it was 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Very similar look to the rest of the generation.
Day 86 for FFT7. Three weeks of flowering in the books, four weeks of flowering remaining. I’m seeing a little of the love that BudXs has for this strain. I fed 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz early in the week with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I have given water and food is rotating back soon.
Another pest treatment this morning. I can’t shake the one or two eggs that keeps escaping me in this batch. Buds are forming so treatments will be closing out now. I sprayed potassium based insecticide soap and neem oil, trying not to soak the main buds.
My temps are reporting much more accurate with a new thermometer. Super bad heat wave lately which is actually overheating my basement too, its brutal.
Day 93 for FFT7, the seventh photoperiod tester from FastBuds. Four weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. Wow, its obvious now ... very nice. If the tent is arranged in pairs of testers, FFT7 has blown FFT6 away with bulk. Large internodal space closed. I’ve been able to continuously irrigate which means lots of food, alternated with just water, which continues to be feedings of 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz, and I add a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Last time was just water.
Day 100 for the seventh of the FastBuds photoperiod testers, FFT7. Five weeks of flowering complete, two weeks of flowering remain. Things are looking good with this one, really bulked up. Hopefully the yellow video shows a bit better than yellow photos. I have continued the Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz until now, last irrigation was water, and I will slip in one more feeding tonight before regular flushes. Tonight will be 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Flushing upcoming.
Day 107 for FFT7, the seventh fast flower. Six weeks of flowering complete, one week of flowering to go. Yee haw. Love the bunches. This strain clearly likes to close the gaps. I’ve moved those with one week left outside to get some frost before harvest, a big relief from the HPS. Flushing away.
Day 111 for FFT7. Approaching seven weeks of flowering. FastBuds said 45 days for flower. Truthfully, I already cut FFT6 which was the least impressive of the bunch I was running. It was so soon after last week’s update there was not a point of another update. For this one, the seventh tester, has had more nights and flushes of water, and has progressed since Saturday. It will be a chilly night tonight and a perfect early morning to chop. Yes, I know there is ideally more time left - active stock is much more important for me. Lets get this show on the road 🐒
A great grow from Fastbuds, this is a review for FFT7, the seventh in the line of photoperiod testers. This was projected as indica.
This grow predates my current amendment, so you can see different things used in soil, and liquid fertilizers. You can also see different veg. tent conditions. I just allowed these testers to grow as one main crown stalk, no training, and let them get to a medium height.
I was expecting more yield across the board, but it was clear the FFTs struggled with extreme heat conditions as I got used to the HPS. I will rectify this in future. FFT7, however, was one that did do okay in the tent. Not the top performer, but also outperformed some. The buds became dense and somewhat swollen.
I utilized my outdoor climate which is advancing into fall to finish out and frost the plant up at the end.
The final product became a reliable indica, just solid performer. Not concussive, but also not energizing - that nice groggy/daze. Trichome production was fine. Flavour was just middle of the road, average. Sort of herby, woody, typical cannabis taste and smell. It took an actual cure (surprising from me) to get some undertones that were sort of sweet and hard to nail down. There have been multiple testers with below average tastes, this not one of them, but I always mixed FFT7 in with others (other than the review). It served a better mixer or background product, or if you are trying to conserve more prized bud.
I’m still coming out positive on this strain. It did finish in the average to top group of testers for me, and if you check out some pro growers (BudXs for example) you can see some serious potential. A strong 7/10 seems fair based on others of its generation and personal tastes. If flavour isn’t bolstered then effects should be imo and it was just slightly lacking in both.
Pretty standard harvest comments. I tried to play outdoor weather and humidity the best I could, and harvest during a night cycle.
I always budwash and the process is quick and two containers:
First, just a quick agitation in a mix of lemon juice, baking soda, and water. Then a rinse in just plain water. Hang to dry as normal.
@GreenHouseLab, Dude, I am paranoid to make a grow IG too! Facebook owns IG and I don't trust 'em! It took me quite a while before I worked up nerve to post here.
Mate , I am near finished this one in my grow now. Dont scrimp on feeding her at all. she will be a big girl of you let her do it . certainly sativa leaning in growth rate ect and .makes a very good bud top. I only topped once and quadlined mine. They had 8 weeks in veg before I flipped them as I hoped to catch up in flowering time saving.lol. Now on day 43 flowering and they are huge buds now and really thick. I am using supersoil which is excellent but usually yields slightly less than hydro ect... Not with these girls !!. Treat her like you know she will go big and you wont regret it. come over and have a gander at her for a reference point in my Fast buds tester journal. good luck
#1 - pro is a compliment, thank you, a bit of a stretch, i learn from pros.
#2 - SMOKING THAT 7 NOW BABY!!!! CAN CONFIRM 10/10 , WOULD TRY AGAIN 10/10. glad you like it too
This strain isna fkn beast. One of the biggest in my garden and fed less than the hempy buckets. Looks fast too. Well ahead of all other plants in bud production
