This is the end of the line, the fast flowering photo period tester line from Fastbuds that is. This is FFT11, a hybrid (indica/sativa), and set to flower in about seven weeks.
My previous grows (FFT1-5) were plagued with early low temperatures, and then just wasted sea of green failures. I am committed to doing better.
I germinated in a peat pod in a small cup of HP Pro Mix. My veg tent is 4’ x 4’ DIY construction. I have a 300 actual watt full spectrum LED and 1/6th of the same light, another 50 watts.
This is day 3, grow little seedling.
Day 11 for the eleventh fast flowering photoperiod tester from Fastbuds, FFT11. I am only giving water as needed. I turned on my output ventilation, no issues, temps seem fine.
Day 18 for FFT11, the eleventh of the Fastbuds photoperiod testers. I ran out of time with my veg. tent, waiting for space to clear up, and this one was annoyed with the lack of root space. I did transplant using 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1
Part Fox Farms Happy Frog soil. Sorry, took a blurry picture of the roots, so you don’t see them.
Day 25 for FFT11, the eleventh Fastbuds tester. Much improvement with new soil and container, lots of growth. I’ve moved things into a new location. I now have two 300 actual watt full spectrum LEDs, but they are a bit higher. Temps are up a bit thanks to summer.
Day 32 for FFT11. Trimmed everything just before photos, including taking fan leaves off. I want thing just straight up and focused. Also, a little space is nice. I also applied 24-8-16 Miracle Grow All Purpose with Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I might be in nitrogen excess, I’ll monitor, and give water if needed. Sometimes its nice to ride that line. I plan on transplanting next week.
Day 39 for FFT11, the eleventh of the Fastbuds testers. Since the feeding I have made sure to allow the container to dry out fully, so I have barely watered. I need to make some mods to get a more stable tent temp., and this seems to be slowing things down a bit. Still, nice and green, no problems.
Day 46 for FFT11. I knew ahead of time that I wouldn’t have access to new soil until the end of the week so I top dressed in anticipation using blood and bone meal, mineralized phosphate, and worm castings, in a mix in HP Pro Mix. I did manage to get more soil and did transplant a couple days ago into a mix of 30 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 worm castings: 1 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 1 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells. BudXs was on my case trying to get me to be a better Beans, so I gave a little energy and tried to do a better job with the top of my tent. Hopefully, I’ll see a temperature degree increase or two in the coming days.
Day 53 for FFT11. With the tent sealed and the temperatures rising, I think all the nutrients are finally accessible. I think I’m at the edge of phosphorous excess, and will look to continue to water or flush if necessary. I’m getting murdered by pests in other tents, so I planted some lady bugs in the veg. tent in the hopes of seeking anything that might be around. I’m going to get more serious cleaning in and around my tents, and prevention methods. For now, this should at least keep things at bay. I haven’t trimmed any old foliage off yet so its looking rough.
Day 60 for FFT11. Things have taken a turn for the positive. Lots of green, warm temperatures, lady bugs circulating, fan moving things. I want to be safe, so I sprayed Safer’s potassium based insecticide soap which also perked things up. Time for cloning!
Day 65 for FFT11. Everything is in motion now, and this one has been put into flower. I was holding off for more supplies but they are delayed. So, just Safer’s Insecticide Soap again and a thorough wash. Also, cleaned the flower tent. This time I have lights on at night, but I don’t expect much temperature change because I’m working in a basement. No more defoliation based on grower discussion. Group shot is the new home with the camera flash.
Day 72 for FFT11. One week of flowering complete, six weeks to go. Everything has been growing, plants look good, no obvious pest infestations. Whew.
Neem oil has been applied in very light concentration, with potassium insecticide soap and water. Underside of the leaves especially.
Immediately after the weekend last week I mixed a compost tea which steeped overnight. I took 2 cups blood and bone meal, 2 cups of alfalfa meal compost, 2 cups worm castings, one cup Myke Flower mycorrhizae, 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses, and mixed it all with 20 liters of water. I pulsed it with a concrete mixer/drill periodically all day and left it overnight. The next day I diluted and watered, aiming for 10:1 water to tea. On the verge of too much as the new leaf fingers are thin, and I had some leaves underneath drop, but I’ve already had to water again with how fast it dries out.
My flower light is a 600 Watt Vivosun HPS. From the Canadian school of Hellishjam and BudXs.
Day 79 for FFT11. Two weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. Moving along, buds! Its good progress with all the testers stretching away. Bulk will be next. I have given water last, as mid week I fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). More food to come. Many of this generation with identical footprints.
Day 86 for FFT11. Three weeks of flowering complete, four weeks remain. Like the rest, looking good. Many of them look so similar, I’m even wondering if I mixed up the photos with FFT10! Chugging away. I gave 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz earlier this week with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I have irrigated with water since then, and more food will come after updates or in the next day or so.
I am treating all plants preventively still. In my experiences, work hard now rather than react later. I sprayed everything again with potassium based soap and neem oil. Will have to end this as buds are starting to smell.
I replaced my old thermometer and am getting way higher and more accurate readings. Plus, it has been an overbearing heat wave which has my basement even more than room temp.
Day 93 for FFT11, the eleventh of the FastBuds photoperiod testers. Four weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. Coming along nicely and stacking up. Starting to see trichomes even with the heat. I’m able to irrigate often so lots of food which continues to be 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz, and I add a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Its going to be a busy harvest, hopefully FFT11 sticks out as unique.
Day 100 for the eleventh of the FastBuds photoperiod testers. Five weeks of flowering complete, two weeks of flowering to go. I’ll be able to push one more feeding tonight, which will be 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Now for the letdown, it looks like high temperatures is not compatible with FFT11, as it looks to have some mixed parts. I think its trying to hermie with the only stressor being heat. I’ll be able to finish regularly, I’m not worried, but I’m even wondering if I’ll get the start of seeds. We shall see.
Day 107 for FFT11, the eleventh tester. Six weeks of flowering complete, one week of flowering left. Harvest is fast approaching. My earlier concerns about heat stress are gone, plant turned out fine. False alarm, typical BwP. I moved the testers with one week left outside to get frosty with the night time temperatures. Just the daytime temps are a relief compared to my flower tent. Woohoo!
Day 113 for FFT11. Seven weeks of flower - we have arrived. This plant will be harvested tomorrow morning. It is projected to be cold tonight. I have been flushing all week, and though its not as bulked as the ninth, there is an advantage to being at the end and it has progressed. The trichomes are there, its deceptive. I can’t wait!
This is FFT11, the eleventh of the photoperiod fast flowering testers from FastBuds. This one came on strong on the final turn of the race of plant life and really impressed me, passing others, and revealing itself as a nice gem. Earlier, in dividing up some seeds for some growmies I assigned the last FFT11 to someone, saw it surging, but too late I was committed! So, CanadianFillmore its up to you buddy. I sort of regret not cloning 🤷♂️🏻 oh well this is why I maintain a good variety of genes.
Like all grows this diary goes back some distance in time, and you can spot old amendment strategies, the move to the new veg. tent. This plant was also in the first non mite infected plant generation under HPS.
Following this line of thought, the photoperiod testers did not like the extreme HPS heat. I’m still new to the high pressure sodium game so this first group was revealing. However, I did move FFT11 outside in my Maritime Canadian climate to build trichomes and frost up. At this point, FFT11 showed to be amazing. It was the tester that probably made the biggest jump moving outside.
In conjunction with the outdoor move, the trichome production is heavy. Lots of crystal that get pronounced over a good dry and cure. The flavours a nice and strong herb, maybe woody, really nice and smooth. The exhale is wonderful and has some sweetness. It gives me a bit of a White Widow vibe (not making that claim).
The effects are hybrid, its definitely a bit of both worlds and I end up just becoming “blah” wasted. I’m not sure its good for any task other than being stoned, and thats fine. I won’t overthink the percentage and its a blend, so I’ll simply list as 50%indica/50%sativa, probably not true, but how the effects mix.
I really like this strain. If I consider a recent FastBuds review, this edges that strain out for two reasons: the effects are more varied and particular, more fun and interesting yet still relaxing; a bit more trichomes and progress when placed in a much cooler environment. Without cloning I can’t give a perfect score. Very good performance, 9/10.
After allowing the plant to finish up outside, it was a standard ending wet trimming and then bud wash.
First container, dip and swirl in lemon juice concentrate, baking soda, and water.
Second container is just a rinse in water and then hang the buds to dry as usual.
