As my Green Gelato's seed in the end did not finish germination, the substitute is the gift seed, Royal Gorilla. Same treatment as the sisters, hard sun and strong wind!
Super fast development.
Well, my organic vegetables garden, in anticipation of growing weed has been at rest for twenty months. I started to amends with green manure from legumes and lawn mowing (expecially the last month, for ready availability of N). I've mixed 1 gallon of Vigo Plant Full (perlite, guano, peats) to improve drainage. All the roses around, the apple tree and the hedges were treated with deltamethrin so as to preventively reduce the population of aphids, whiteflies & red spiders.
My vegetables & weed eventually will receive only spraying of nettle macerated.
Now in the evening I will have to pay close attention to broadnose weevils and later to bedbugs. It will be a tough fight against the wind and heat. A whole week of full sun awaits them.
Royal Gorilla has spent the previous week outdoors night and day in her pot savoring the discrete temperature changes in my area.
She is a runner, born 9 days after the sisters and is already making up for lost time. 💪
Another good week with RG. She did not suffer from early transplantation (in fact he does not have signs of chlorosis like his sisters). She still is a runner, a small sunflower. Good genetics.
Crazy and extremely variable wheater this week but what a runner! In 7 days RG passed the oldest "special kush # 1" growing 2 centimetres a day. Perfectly healthy, I decided not to top her. Starting LTS. Smell will be a problem later.
Another crazy week, hot days, cold nights, always windy. These are the conditions in which weed grows in nature and my girls seem to love. RG is confirmed as a runner. Perfectly healthy only a few scratches caused by the wind. No parasites. Very rapid response to bending with excellent branching. What a smell !!
My little runner is in a kind of pre-flowering stage (calix and pistils, alternating nodes) which is rather strange since the day after tomorrow is the summer solstice and receives 18 hours of light a day. I am so happy of this 'cause RG is a long-flowering strain. RG was a bonus seed planted in place of an ungerminated Green Gelato. An unwanted girl, unsuitable to grow outdoor, in theory. Using this adjustable curved trace I stopped the apical dominance obtaining a thick plant with many well-formed branches.
Excellent growth this week, excellent response to bending with many branches looking for sun. Perfectly healthy considering the weather. No need 4 feed.
Happy and frosty growin for all of you 🤞
Entering pre-flowering. Calix and pistils appear, beginning of alternating growth, very stretchy. RG has grown a lot and well, the training made her very bushy, as I wanted it to be. Lots of beautiful branches now have space to form beautiful buds.
From now on I will let the main cola grow and stop to bend the main stem. Still no need 4 feed. 🤙👋
17.7 inches/week
Usual summer week here in the south, every day above 86 ° F (max 100 ° F). By now the main cola is no longer dominant, my Gorilla is unstoppable , the youngest of the batch is grown almost 2 inches per day by drinking 2 gallons per day of spring water showing only few signs of heat stress. She's in full stretch and had fill every spaces with her thick branches. I fed her half the recommended dose of Biobizz Griw 'cause is too hot and don't want to burn her. I think we are 10 days before flowering. I covered her with a PVC net in order to give her a little shield from the sun and give me more privacy ;-)
July 10, still pre-flowering 94 °F
🔥🔥🔥Tenth day of the heat wave🔥🔥🔥
Gorilla in name and in fact. This exuberant plant forced me to rearrange the nets several times, filling all the spaces quickly. The LTS has been very effective and the plant has responded very well since I can count at least 15 strong branches (4 of which are as thick as the main branch). Still no apical dominance. I made a small defoliation in the middle, 2-3 leaves a day. Others will follow.
For now it is tolerating the heat wave rather well.
As for the two sisters, I have adopted the following feeding scheme since the beginning of the week in consideration of the heat:
Water > BioGrow ¹ ² > Water > BioBloom ¹ ²
* ¹ ² half of recommended dose
This scheme will last until the next week, then BioGrow will be stopped.
She must be trained twice a day.
Happy growing & stay safe Bros💪
The heat wave has just passed, after 15 days of hell no serious problems to report, few burnt tips, some spots where the water has fallen on the leaves. My gorilla now shows a sativa-like leaf pattern. Huge plant, still stretching, cheesy flavor when rubbed.
Stay safe Bros
Ideal weather for growing weed. Minor damages by critters, perfectly healty. Huge plant.
Some defoliation in the middle.
Another heat wave is comin' WTF.
Hope you enjoy the garden
Happy to see U come back for updates.
Cheers & Happy Growing!
See ya soon
Update July 30
102 °F
Plants now need to be watered twice a day with 3/4 gallons. All my garden is burned except these incredibly girls, is a hard challenge. I can't understand not how much these plants survive but how they thrive instead
Very hard to stay outside, very hard to take decent pics, very hard to sleep, to breath too. Closed at home I am building a dry trimming dock with a 120 microns sieve which I will then use to beat the dry trim in the Moroccan way.
On Monday 27, the first day of the second heat wave, 90 ° F, the plant already begins to show signs of low heat stress and the forecasts are very bad, this could last for 2 weeks. This is a problem for me because I have planned to start stressing the plant with underwater, an impossible mission in this heat. For the same reason I'll stop to defoliate. I was forced to bend the tallest branches again for privacy reasons, this girl is fucking vigorous. From now on I will stop counting the height and the water, the first because the plant is completely folded 3/4 times and has exceeded 75 inches abundantly. The latter because I water them directly with the water hose. I will report only nutes when gived. Grasshoppers are starting their fucking job chewing leaves but I don't care, this resilient girl has tons of leaves so I'll let them to make defoliation in my place, checking only the new sprouts and for mites. Occasional mealybugs are prompted burned by my lighter, the best method!!!
Still waiting for stigmas.
RG is very leafy, she's still stretching but lots of pistils are appearing. Strong cheese/coffee scent. Unstoppable & resilient. She slips into any hole, through one of them one of her branches has finally reached the other two sisters, in a few square inches 3 buds of different strains are forming, embracing one another. Shape and thickness of the branches make me think of a not generous harvest, according to the breeder.
Hope you enjoy the garden
Happy to see U come back for updates.
Cheers & Happy Growing!
See ya soon
Outdoors........time passes slowly....
Tropical weather here, this week. Hot morning, evening storms , cooler nights, high humidity, wind. What else?
No problems to report, fantastic grow, girls full of life. Lots of work to bend and rearrange plant's shape every day, sometimes twice a day. Defoliation. Plant is responding fantastically.
My Royal Gorilla has one branch with an uncommon mutation. The stem from 4th internode is flat and not circular. From the 7th node, although now plant shows alternate growth, two perfectly identical branches are growing closer to each other, a twin bud mutation. Precisely for this mutation I decided to apply a little supercropping by bending the branch with a flat section at 90 °. I hope it wasn't late and the double buds will recover.
#update August 6, twin buds perfectly recovered from supercropping so I can hope for a monster bud!
Perfect tropical-like weather. No problems to report. Excellent growth. Still rearranging net tent as this bastard stretch a lot.
Stigmas are finally forming. This strain surprises me more every day, she's the first to bloom when she should be the last, she should be unsuitable for outdoor cultivation and instead she's a great performing one. Excellent pheno.
😉👊
Great climate, ideal. No problems to report, for the moment the critters are focused on something else. If it doesn't get too hot, I'll start reducing irrigation and defoliate more. Today 13.27 hours of light.
My Gorilla is doing well, lots of flowers are forming although they are smaller than those in Special Kush # 1. Strong cheese smell. The supercropped twin branches will become one giant bud.
August 19 update - Very initial mites infestation promptly treated with nettle macerate spray.
August 21 update - first day of new heat wave
Great climate, ideal. After careful consideration, valued the considerable size of the plants, the flowering stage and the yellowing of the bottom canopy , I decided to feed one last time with veg nutes at half dose. This will be followed by 2 waterings of water only and then a boost of flowering nutrients.
I love this strain. She's blooming very well, quickly just like she was growing indoor. For a couple of days it has been emitting an extraordinary citron/diesel smell and now becomes to be sticky. Expected harvest time: 3rd/4th week of September.
Thanks for following, I ❤️ you
Very variable weather, summer is at the end, temperature drops quickly, even 60 °F.
I was out for 3 days, on my return I found the three girls who were starting to wither but they were promptly watered. No damage to report. The yellowing of the lower canopy has started. Acceptable weather forecast until 10 September. I bought 5 transparent PCV tarps to protect them extemporaneously from the rain.
My beloved Gorilla rocks! Buds are forming and filling very well, super sticky and frosty. Strong citron/bubblegum scent. This sativa-like pheno is funtastic, she is not very leafy, leaves are narrow so the sun penetrate very well through the whole plant. It remains to be seen how the buds will fill up and if my girl can disprove the reputation for "quality buds but low yields" . Let's see. Expected harvest September 3rd week.
Destiny has given me a wonderful climate so far but from the 18th the weather will change completely, precisely in the last 10 days of flowering which fortunately is very accelerated by the anomalous heat, especially at night.
Typical late summer weather here, kinda for weed.
First storm is expected on Saturday, I'm ready to protect them. I've made the last rearrangement of the tent, trying to give more room to the vigorous and overflowing Pineapple Kush so I've rised the roof to 110". The plants are all carefully sprayed with thyme extract to control mites infection, it seems to work, infection is stable from 1 week. I kill manually 20/30 bedbugs a day. During nighttime, maybe a monster grasshopper, is munching some leaves, at this point I don't care, I have to defoliate anyway and these bastards don't chew buds, for now.
Buds are filling very well, super sticky and frosty but looking at sister's buds is clear that Royal Gorilla will not produce giant buds (except the twin buds) . Strong citron/berry scent. I have to be very careful not to touch her because she is sticky like a fly trap and not to shake her because the smell can be heard from 100 meters away. Expected harvest September 3rd/4th week.
Last week with nutes

Happy growing my friends 🙏
Weather here is still fantastic, hot days, partially cloudy, cooler nights. Long term forecast are excellent till the end of September, probably till mid October. No news to report, I'm just waiting for buds swelling, these are the slowest days of my life.
The halfway point has passed, now I am just waiting for the buds to gain weight, trichomes are turning milky with few amber. Lots of beautiful brown pistils are filling the buds, a ridiculous amount of resin is covering everything (I really won't know how to handle this super sticky stuff). Unfortunately, the flower size ratio is still disadvantageous compared to that of the sisters but the structure of this plant is sublime, practically apart from slender branches, sparse and thin leaves, it is composed only of beautiful dense buds, with a perfect ovoid shape, in need of little trim. Aesthetically a feast for the eyes. The mites infection is stable. From tomorrow the definitive defoliation begins, a little at a time. Flushing started, last feed Monday 14th. Harvest time September 26/27 or earlier.
Cropped Thursday evening, 3/4 days before necessary for complete maturation. Better to lose 2 ounces of weed now than having the plant destroyed by the storm later on. Yeld is below the expectations. Wet weight after 1 day fro crop (buds cleared of leaves) 2.91 lbs (1320 grams).
This is caused partially by my pheno (pheno #1 sativa-like, low yield and high THC) and by some mistakes I've done:
1- position in the garden (too close to the sisters)
2- I haven't considered the change in the sun's trajectory and inclination from August onwards.
3- too much LTS (but I was obliged to keep plants short and bushy)
4- underwater (this is my fault, I always tend to keep plants on the verge of thirst. I dug up the roots and the plant actually needed a lot more water).
Now she's gone I'm more relaxed and concerned on Special Kush #1, the next week crop and Pineapple Kush the October harvest. Without Royal Gorilla the smell around the home is reduced by 70%. Dry trimming. All buds have been washed before drying and will be dryed very very slowly in a strictly controlled environment. Stay tuned for the next week or 10 days , a generous crop is comin'.... with Special Kush #1. See you in a couple of weeks for harvest results and smoke report.
Happy growing folks
From 1321 grams of wet weight after 8-9 days of drying at 65% RH - 19.5 C and 2 days of curing these are the results :
Buds
320 grams (11.28 oz.)
Trim
102 grams
Dry sift resin
2 grams
3/4 spliffs of finger hash (already smoked)
I tasted it after only 8 days of curing, the flavor is still slightly herbaceous.
Smell - Intense aroma of bergamot and diesel but very sweet.
Smoke - very delicate, refreshing, a very strong flavor of lemongrass and skunk, some little bit of earthy taste in the nose. *update : after 2 weeks of curing this weed has gained a fantastic aroma spectrum. The first puff is a heady burst of citrus and pine aromas. Now there is also an aftertaste of wet earth and resin. Sweet and mouth refreshing.
High - this shit is strong, no respect, 3 puff and I began spinning like a top, hyperactive. After ten minutes the high begins to hammer. Great daysmoke but to take carefully because if you overdo it it knocks you out. Not couchlocking at all.
It could have been better, but I did. Keep an eye out for special kush, if the Gorilla made me 320 grams, will that beast give me the Kilo?
Folks, thank you for watching, commenting and liking, I've always appreciated your company 🙏🙏🙏
