This is the first time i've grown NL auto by Female seeds.
I started the seed germinating in a paper towel and then moved it to a coco plug until it has grown larger. I needed to remove the plant material from the old pot before i can put NL in. I have moved the seedling to the new pot on day 7.
Currently sat in my tent with my home made propagator, a 500ml bottle with the bottom cut off.
Second week begins and NL is looking good. I've put it into its final container and i have put my propagator on while it is still a seedling.
NL is looking strong after two weeks.
When i checked NL auto on day 16 it was on its side. I have moved it to a more central location in the tent so it is directly under the light. I think it may have been slightly blocked by another plant.
Entering week 4 and the Northern Lights has righted it self and seems to be growing with no issues. I started low stress training on day 26.
Weather got a lot wetter this week so the humidity has risen considerably.
NL Auto is looking strong. I am continuing the low stress training but not being too brutal in my shaping as it has fat indica-type leaves so i don't expect it to be too tall, I just like to level everything out for more consistent light coverage.
Two strips of the blue LED's went on my light. I contacted the supplier and they are sending out some replacement parts so i can fix it. It shouldn't be too much of an issue as they should have enough light.
Week 6 and Northern Lights has had a bit of a growth spurt but very little evidence of pistols starting to appear. I think this will be the last vegetative week.
We had a bit of a heat wave on day 40-42, the outside temperature peaked at 31˚C. The tent temp topped out at 29.7˚C.
Day 42 and the plant looks slightly droopy. I'm hoping it is temporary from the heat as it has enough water but neither of the other two plants show similar symptoms. I will have to see what it looks like tomorrow.
Week 7 and it looks like it has entered the flowering stage. It has had a decent growth spurt over the last few days.
I have noticed that in their morning (my evening) that the leaves seem a little droopy but perk up after watering and several hours. I think i need to give them some water earlier in the day.
Pistols are forming and buds are starting to develop. All in all the plant looks healthy and happy. I have ordered a pH meter and a TDS meter to monitor those levels as well.
Northern lights is looking healthy. The buds are forming nicely and the pistols are super white. Looking forward to seeing how much the buds fatten up.
Northern Lights is looking good. The buds are developing nicely with lots of super white pistols. I trimmed a few of the leaves of this week to allow more light to reach the canopy.
Northern Lights has got considerably bigger than the other plants in my tent. It's about 10cm taller than the next closest one. Lots of white pistols and the buds are yet to fatten up so this could end up being a really good plant.
I had a bit of a defoliation last week. I think i am just a bit too hesitant and not brutal enough in my actual trimming. Hopefully as i get more experienced i'll be more confident in what to chop off.
The NL buds are starting to fill out, not bad for a freebie seed from Seedsman.
We had a heat wave over the past week and the temperature in the tent topped out at 32˚C. There doesn't seem to be any obvious signs of heat stress on the plant.
Northern Lights is looking very frosty. Using my jewellers loupe it looks like the trichomes are a mix between cloudy and clear, i saw very few amber ones. I will see how it goes this week and then i am going to have to chop it down on day 99/100 as i am going away and don't want to leave it for 2 weeks unattended.
The grow was as simple as can be. No issues with the plant whatsoever. I perhaps would have left it for another week before harvesting but i am away so it had to be now.
Auto NL is the nicest smelling plant i have harvested it almost smells like lilt (the soft drink) it's so fruity.
I am seriously looking forward to trying this strain once it has dried and cured.
My tolerance is so low that any strain knocks me on my arse but my seasoned smoker friends noted the effects of NL. They were impressed that they felt quite a head high that lasted a while.
Harvested on day 99 as i am going away for a week.

Overall it was an absolute pleasure to grow and i'm glad i've got another 2 seeds to grow some more. Not bad at all for free seeds from Seedsman!
Looking good!! If you're seeing amber it won't be much longer till she is done... I have some of these seeds and can't wait to get them going... happy growing 🤙👍🌱
