Plants are fun
She’s really growing now. Maaaybe see the first white hairs. Hopefully, I want this wrapped up by mid August when the photo plants hit flower.
Definitely in preflower and starting to stretch. Long internodal spacing. A bit of insect damage.
Hot and humid with rain. Got a good feed in last week. Main stem is stretching with the side branches catching up. Basically just what it’s supposed to do
Beautiful weather in VT this week. I put the plant in It’s final location which is fairly hidden amongst the blackberries but also gets the most direct light hours. She is a stretchy one and the center stem towers above the meager side branches. Purple hues coming through the internodal calixes. No further sign of insect damage.
Got out in the evening for some flash photos. Got to feed early morning before the rain moves in.
Chonk stage. Got those pistils stacking on top of each other. The smell has changed a bit, less haze and more of that nutty skunky. Mega crop on sunny days with a little Bud Explosion. Still pretty hot during the day. So far it’s been a banner year for growing things.
It’s also been a humid year. Today I found early bud rot in my sour diesel auto, which got harvested at day 78. A close look at the meth showed no signs but it’s a much taller plant. Two more weeks would be nice but I’m a bit paranoid about the forecast which shows daily thunderstorms for the foreseeable future.
I got out my Canon and shot some good photos. Flash photography at dusk is a beautiful thing. Closeup of the one supercropped branch. I had such good results with this on my last auto grow that I wanted to test it out. Looking for big rocks further down the branch.
Was away most of the week. Always nice to be away and come back to see a noticeable change. Just water now. Oldest fan leaves are yellowing with some fall colors. In July. Gotta love outdoor autos. Photo plants should start flowering soon so this lady is ready to chop in a week or so or at any sign of trouble.
I was reading a Fast Buds blog article about growing outdoor autos when I came across a couple photos of my tall purple lady!!! Sweet!!! The photo was specifically referring to my use of a stake for support with a side note to avoid bamboo as it tends to break down over the course of the season. I’d like to clarify that the stakes I use in my garden are plastic coated metal which I get at my local hardware store.
There’s a tropical depression headed up the coast and this lady will probably spend a day in the camper van this week.
8/5/20 Harvest day. Despite sitting out the rain in the van the pretty lady couldn’t escape the humidity. I saw a few things upon close inspection this morning. I found a sugar leaf with a clutch of insect eggs. I found a milky secretion the size of a drop of water. I found a tiny bit of fuzz in the bud that I super cropped. As much as I’d like to have given her five more days of sun, she’s too important to risk any issues. More later...
Can’t wait to grow this indoor. Certainly hoping for better weight but it’s been a hot summer and let’s face it, outdoors aren’t ideal for autos but it’s great to be harvesting just as my monster photo plants are starting to flower.
Definitely going to top it next time; man was that center stem tall.
