Posting retroactively. We started in the garage but moved inside in week 3 when we had some cold weather. Purple Punch Auto seed germinated within 24 hours, and the Tangerine Dream Auto germinated within 48 hours (using the paper towel method). I initially planted in small pots and transplanted into the big fabric ones, but next time I'll go right to the big fabric ones.

Starting to get a little bit of a smell this week! We moved inside from the garage because of a cold period, but now have a much better temp range (22-25). PPauto: 15cm TDauto: 12cm

Morning of Day 37: Purple Punch Auto: really taking off this week with multiple buds forming. I trimmed just a few little sites down at the base that wouldn't get light, and I cut a few fan leaves that were blocking some new growth and flower sites. A few tiny holes in one or two leaves, but pretty sure this is from rubbing on the sides of the fabric pot--no signs of bugs. Nutrients: feeding every third day (I'd been feeding every day, but the leaves were getting real dark and starting to curl, so I cut back and they look happier). Watering: about 250mL/day. Height: Tangerine Dream Auto: slow but steady, no stress. Not quite flowering yet but it's just about to go. Nutrients: same as above Watering: same as above Height: Sorry that the pictures aren't great: charging up the Nikon to try to get some proper shots.

Day 42: A lot of growth this week: the purple punch auto has put on something like 6cm in under two days. Nothing particularly exciting to report otherwise: pruned a few leaves but that's about it! The smell is weak but really nice: earthy and citrusy. Purple Punch: 42cm Tangerine Dream Auto: 30cm

The Purple Punch has slowed down with growth and the buds are growing. I’m a little concerned about some of the lower leaves turning yellow and brown; I trimmed a fan leaf that was getting brown and crinkly on Friday of week 8, but the next day some of the smaller leaves at the bottom are going the same way. Any advice would be great! The Tangerine Dream is doing great. It put on a burst of speed and has almost caught up with the PP in height. Now about 51cm.

Some of the lower leaves on my Purple Punch Auto are turning yellow/brown and crispy (day57-58). The one pictured has just developed like this—I trimmed a fan leaf yesterday that was in bad shape. Any advice would be great!

You might be having a nitrogen deficiency, A cannabis nitrogen deficiency will cause the older, lower leaves on your plant to turn yellow, wilt away and eventually die. The plant typically appears pale or lime-colored. The yellow tips and curling edges can be from light or heat stress .

This week has been more interesting. It looks like the Purple Punch has a nitrogen deficiency—starting from the bottom, older leaves are going yellow and crinkly. I upped the nutrients a fair amount and started including Fish Mix. After feeding every other watering, it seems to have helped: the higher up leaves have gone back a bit greener. Otherwise: the PP is starting to smell great: fresh and citrusy. The pistils are starting to change color, but I’m hoping the buds grow a bit more. The Tangerine Dream Auto is doing great—it’s now 62cm and seems happy. It’s finally growing some buds so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve also been upping the nutrients on this one, if a little less aggressively.

A bit of nutrient burn on the Purple Punch Auto, but the nitrogen deficiency seems to have stopped. It’s a bit hard to tell, but it looks like some of the trichromatic are going milky—maybe wishful thinking. Still some new white pistils. The Tangerine Dream Auto is going well and hit 66cm this week. I’ve been mixing nutrients a little, which is hugely not scientific and probably not a great idea.

A lot to report this week--I learned a lot. Purple Punch Auto: having used a different light to look at trichomes with a new microscope, I spotted some amber trichromes and figured I'd try harvesting a few buds (26g wet), including the main cola. I dried it for five days and tried it: wow. Definitely early: it didn't taste like much, maybe a bit earthy. I also didn't trim enough of the sugar leaves--I'm a little unsure about how much is too much. On the other hand, it definitely worked: it's strong and really cerebral. To be honest, I hope it mellows a bit! I left about 60% of the buds on the plant and it's put out new flower growth. I think it's stressed, since some of the buds are putting out new pistils off to the side. I'd appreciate suggestions: should I just chop it now or let it keep going? In any case, the PPA topped out at 56cm. Tangerine Dream Auto: well, this one really has popped. Lots of flowering sites. It looks like I have light burn now though, and I'm not sure what to do. The light is as high up as it can go already, and I bent the main stem yesterday accidentally trying to pull it to the side. It seems fine today though and is standing up entirely on its own without problems. I've switched from 24/0 light schedule to 18/6 in the hopes that it will slow the burn. TDA is now 67cm. I've switched to Bio-bloom, Top-Max, and Alg-a-Mic entirely at this point.

I've got what I think is light burn. I can't dim or raise my LED lights (300w), but I'm currently running them 24/0. Would switching to 18/6 help? Or would it help to take the burned plant and have it out in natural light during the day? I'm growing autos and they're flowering.

Not too much excitement this week: switching to 18/6 seems to have slowed down the light burn on the Tangerine Dream. Other than that, the only change has been the appearance of more amber trichromes on the Purple Punch: hoping that I'll harvest the whole plant in a week's time.

Not too much progress this week. The PPA has a few amber trichromes, but trimming buds in Week 10 prompted some stressed bud growth and I think that set us back a bit. It's hard to be patient, especially since the tent is full and I'd like to get started on the next grow!

Our first grow done! I learned a lot and had fun. My main takeaway is to be more patient and not mess with things too much. I didn't train or anything, and trimming the main cola/some buds in Week 10 was a bit of a mistake. I think it would have all finished in Week 11/12 if I had been a bit more patient. For next time I'll top and train, see if that bumps up the yield. It was a bit hard to judge when to harvest: as above, I harvested the main cola and a few buds in Week 10 when they displayed about 5-10% amber trichromes and the rest were milky. The buds I left on then put out new pistils, which slowed things down but they definitely increased in size. Those buds then stalled a bit and sat with about 5% amber trichromes for at least two weeks, so I went for the full harvest. I'll revisit and update once everything is dried and cured. Thanks for reading--any tips always welcome!

Started getting more autumnal leaves, but not a lot of progress on the trichromes. The buds aren’t quite as full or dense as I’d like, but hopefully we can finish in two weeks or so. The light burn seems to have stabilized, which is a relief. Overall, just chugging along!

Not much going on this week; a few amber trichromes appearing, more trichromes going milky. Really hoping to let it ride a little longer and see if the buds plump out a bit.

A hot week! We’ve had a big heat wave with temps in the tent regularly at 30. Not a lot of movement. If nothing changes I’ll chop next week, but there are still very few amber trichromes.

Apologies for the crappy photos, was trying to use my partner's fancy camera and obviously need to learn to use it a bit better! This was a slow one, but overall it didn't offer many difficulties. It was pretty forgiving with not very careful measurements of nutrients, a few periods where I forgot the light was off overnight, that kind of thing. I bent a few stems by accident but it didn't seem to cause any problems. I had a bit of light burn but it wasn't a huge problem. It seemed like it stalled a bit from weeks 14-16, but recently it'd been putting on more weight. Once it hit about 20% amber trichromes I decided to chop it. It smells amazing: sweet citrus. While I'd have liked a bigger yield, I'm pretty pleased for my first run.
