Took a while to get to the vegetative state but glad I’m finally here, even if one of them is dying. I used the lighting setting up from a winter grow that has since been moved outside. That one is close to harvest. I didn’t create a diary for it because it was an odd seed. Didn’t think it was going to produce anything. Anyway back to these plants. Overall, I was worried since it took them ages to sprout. Plant 1, this one has been a absolute nightmare. It sprouted a week before the other two. After which I’ve had one problem after another. Most notably, the nutrients. I was able to correct it in time and now I’m just waiting for it to grow it’s first set of fan leaves. I can already see the start of it but I’m worried that it might take forever to come in. Plant 2, the happy medium that I’m sure is close to the end. Just my luck this one about to die right after it got it’s first 3 finger leaves. I’ve left it alone, every day it seems to get worse. Plant 3, the final one to sprout and some how the healthiest. Not sure what I did with this one that has caused it to grow so slowly to begin with. However now it looks like it’s the best of the 3. Back-up plant, I didn’t take a pic of this one cause I don’t know the strain. It was an odd seed from a couple years ago. It’s catching up to plant 1 fast considered it took a lot longer to germinate and sprout. It’s only had ph down. Overall, this week has been great, might need to get a fan or something to help with the airflow. The target of this grow is to have 2 plants reach harvest during the same grow. Since I’ve only done single seed grows before this one is a new challenge. The learning curb was different since this is the first time I’ve ever grown in rockwool. That’s not to say it’s been bad, I kind of seeing less issues than when I used soil prior to this. Another factor is not watering the plants everyday. As odd as that seems, I’m use to watering after I wake up every morning.

So right after starting this diary one of the plants died. Which OK, was expected, I mentally prepared and moved on. Over the weekend, my roommates went out. So I cleaned out the NFT system cause why not? During this process another plant died... well it was died but I didn’t notice until the stonewool it was growing it completely dissolved in sink. The roots basically shrivelled up, seems like a bad sign. Another thing I came across recently was the Bio-grow doesn’t do well in a tank. This was the main reason I cleaned it out. Moving forward I’m going to top feed it every other day, using a solution of nutrients listed on this grow. The tank will still be used for later in the grow and daily watering, with ph down and root juice and bio heaven. Just to make sure that it’s getting something from underneath. Since only plant 3 survived, moving forward I’ll be referring to it as the main plant. Anyway, based on how much it’s grown and using my previous grows. I was able to feel confident with the amount it has grown and how much to expect moving forward. While I’m not happy with the top feeding, it’s a mild inconvenience that I must endure. As long as it produces a new set of leaves every week, I know I’m on the right track. Also it was getting top heavy. Added a support and based on what I know it means it’s starting to reinforce the main stem for the rest of the grow. I don’t think the support will be removed for a couple of weeks. The back up plant is in, waiting until it’s first finger leaves appeared. Since then it’s produced it’s first set of fan leaves. 3 fingers but still an accomplishment. Finally, I have one more seedling that is just catching up. It’s only started germination about a few days ago but is already about to sprout. I’ll add to this grow since it’s starting to produce fan leaves.

Nothing new or interesting this week. Both plants seem to be doing fine but the grow has a slowed down compared to last week. That being said, I did notice the roots started popping out the bottom of the rockwool. I wanted to start increasing the amount of root juice to help get more roots out but decided to wait a week. I want to roots to come out of all sides. As for the nutrients, I’ve been top feeding them and it seems to be going well. Slightly concerned that the plants aren’t consuming them like made yet but still. The rockwool is starting to feel a little too soft. I might take them out for a couple a days to help dry them off a bit. Really want to avoid that since it would require a few days of monitoring. Finally I have the new seedling. Starting to think it might not be going into this grow, not because it’s dying. It’s just slow. Want it to have some serious root showing before I put it in. From experience that seems like it’s still a couple weeks off.

Barely any new details. The only real change was the increase in root juice this week. The nutrient mix is starting to run low so within the next couple of weeks I’ll be making a fresh batch. Overall both plants seem to be doing well. However, the back up plant is beginning to lean. Since the support has been in for a while now, I’ll keep it in place until it’s able to support it self. I also gave them a rotation, I don’t think this will do anything. Something interesting is that the roots are starting to shoot out the bottom of the rockwool. While this is a good sign, I’m more concerned about the roots developing in the rockwool. The plants need to start developing those so it can start drying out the rockwool faster. Each plant got about 5 ml of nutrients per day. I’m hoping to up that to 30 ml per day within the next couple weeks. The stems are strong enough for any sort of training but I’m looking forward to starting it when it is. Finally, the other seedling that I was hoping to add to this grow will be getting it’s own diary. At this point, it’s not ready to be added and should takes it’s time. That will be put on a window in a stonewool cube. Manually watering it everyday seems like a endless task but I really want to compare it to these ones by seeing what it looks like with natural sunlight.

The last couple of weeks have been the same. So when I start seeing pistils, my first reaction wasn’t great. This lead to me trimming the plants. At the pre flower isn’t a good idea but Topping seemed a bit extreme. Must say the plant has recovered nicely. Besides that the roots are just sucking up the top feed nutrients like mad. May have gone overboard and quadruple the dosage. Besides that I’ve learnt my lesson and decided to purchase a grow light from an actual hydroponics store. It’s on back order since the only one that can fit in my closet is always out of stock. The chances of it arriving before this finishes is very unlikely.

So I can’t avoid the flowering stage, as much as I wish these guys would start to grow every way to Sunday, I have to accept that these aren’t going to be that great. That being said, I learned that my light sucks. So I’ve ordered a new one but it’s on back order since it’s the only one that will fit in the closet Is sold out. So the main plant that I’ve been looking forward to may not give me a great yield but that’s fine. Through this ordeal I’ve figured out how to germinate in rockwool, something that is going to be incredibly useful in the future. Also that stretching is a nightmare that is only made worse by requiring me to focus on FIMing and Topping. Something that I look forward to never doing again. The other plant seems like a long way off from flowering but that might be the result of me accidentally topping it.

This week was busy so besides topping up the water in the tank I didn’t make any significant changes. I reduced the amount of grow formula which was a choice. Also, I’m trying to keep this short since my computer is like on less than 1% battery life. I decided to tie the plants down, mainly cause it’s hot in my closet and the light was only getting to the top leaves. Also I know I won’t get much out of this but I really wanna smoke this one real bad and I’d be happy for a small joint but not a micro joint. The side plant on the other hand.... it isn’t flowering and doesn’t look close to pre-flower. So not sure what’s going on there. I’m hoping for plenty more weeks of vegetative stage. Also tied it down, might start trimming in an attempt to get possibly more colas... Don’t count on it as I’m about to light joint and watch Empire Records. Next week.... I’m probably going to have to accept that the second plant should be removed from this diary.
