Rather than continue with "Grow 1," "Grow 2," etc, I've decided to just start naming my plants.
Everyone, meet Cecilia! She started peeking up out of the soil earlier this week.
Another week down! I raised the light up a bit as it didn't look like she needed quite so much. I may raise it a bit more until she starts growing upwards a little just to make sure she doesn't have too much. But so far, things are looking good!
I also got more spacers this week, so hopefully this plant will be able to take advantage of all the new height!
Not much change from last week as the cotyledons begin to wither. Looks like it's time for some nutes! I actually mixed up the measurements for my nute chart a little, so they're a bit out of balance for this feeding. Luckily, they're not too far off so I don't think she'll suffer too much.
The soil isn't completely dry yet, so I'm not watering her again. The next watering will likely be only Cal-Mag anyways--as you can probably tell, she got just a little bit nute burned from the extra FloraBloom I accidentally gave her last week. But aside from the burn, the nutes have really done their job! She really shot up this week, at least doubling in size. Good spacing between the nodes too, so it looks like I'm finally getting the light settings right.
I'm very, very worried about the white mold from the last plant returning, so I've lifted the fabric pot up off the floor of the bucket just to give it a bit more ventilation. I'm hopnig that will help to counteract any remaining spores that might have survived my scrubbing.
I let her dry out pretty completely until she started wanting for nutes again, both to counteract any potential mold growth and to wait until the previous nutes were out of her system. She's looking much better now! She's still sitting on a raised little platform when I'm not working with her, so I hope that will help keep her as dry as possible between waterings. Since I've pretty much starved her since her first nute dosage, she hasn't really had much vertical growth.
I'm giving her a break from nutes this week, so growth will probably slow down until her next watering. Otherwise, she's looking pretty good. After taking these photos, I tied her down a little more than shown here. I'm hoping that this time I can experiment with trying to maximize horizontal growth before upward growth.
She's looking good :) Pumping up the nutes a bit this week to see what happens! I've been able to promote some more growth down near her base nodes by bending her to the side, and I'm hoping those leaves shoot up a bit more this week. We'll see!
Week 8 was pretty good to her! She had a nice growth spurt, and now has some great big fan leaves. I took these photos on the usual day this weekend, but even just since then she's already gained quite a bit more height. Here's hoping she keeps it up!
A little bit late this week, my bad! But look at her go! :) She's growing wonderfully. I upped her FloraBloom just a bit this week to see how she takes it. If she reacts badly, I'll give her a break from nutes next week. If she likes it, we'll keep this balance for next week. I raised the lights a bit and then added another bulb. Hopefully she likes a bit more light!
I tried to upload these last week, unfortunately the website was throwing errors and all sorts of other problems. I don't remember what I was going to say about her, which also sucks. Guess I'll just let the pics speak for themselves! She has been doing well.
She's doing wonderfully! She's filling out the bucket very well and taking nutes like a champ. I actually trimmed a few big fan leaves off right before taking these pictures to let the lower ones get a bit more light. This is definitely the most leaves I've gotten from a plant before. I might press a few and keep them as bookmarks! The main stem is now making a half-circle around the outside of the bucket. I wonder if we'll get to a full circle before her growth starts slowing too much. So far, I'm very pleased with this tie-down method.
Giving her a break from nutes this week. She's filling out pretty well! I'd like to be able to pull some of these taller branches back to get more light to the lower leaves, but there isn't much space in the bucket to do so. I guess that's a good problem to have though!
She was not very happy with being taken off nutes for a watering! I don't think I'm going to do that again. I just fed her so hopefully over the next few days she'll return to her happy self. Regardless, some of those beautiful little sparkles are starting to spread across her leaves! The smell, while still weak and only noticeable when I open the bucket, is starting to get stronger.
Got some more little crystals coming in! It's getting a bit difficult to water her as the whole bucket is just filled with parts of the plant. I think before I start the next one, I may try to install one of those little watering tubes in the side. It would really help me out with this LST strategy.
This week was really hard on her. We had a sudden spike in temperatures the last few days. Last week the weather was floating around freezing, and this week we almost hit 100. The sudden flip in temperatures didn't sit too well with my poor girl. I have all the ventilation I can in her room, but unfortunately my house is old and the AC doesn't reach the upper floor too well. She was doing fine on Thursday, healthy as can be, but by today the wild weather patterns have begun to wear her down. We've been evening out a bit this weekend, so I'm hoping we'll stay within a reasonable range from now until harvest. To be safe, I'm going to start checking in on her more often and increasing her water.
The heat has been pretty harsh. Luckily, doubling her watering schedule has helped. The bud is starting to fill in--I'm so excited! I still think she'll need a couple more weeks before she's ready to harvest, but we're getting there. :)
We've gotten nothing but rain and flooding the past week or so. This means a lot of humidity! I went back to her previous, lighter watering schedule this week to be safe, and I think she's handling it fine. She's starting to fatten up as well! I'm so excited to see how she develops over the next couple weeks.
It's gotten so hot out! She;'s hanging in there, though. I think it's getting close to harvest time--we've got a decent proportion of red trichomes and she's fattening up pretty well. She's starting to smell really nice, too, sort of like peaches! I think I might harvest her either next week or the week after.
I've really like growing Nirvana's NL for the past year or so. It's a great starter strain, and I've been able to see my progress as I improve. I think at this point I'm ready to explore some other strains, but I will probably always return to this one as my fall back. It's so hardy and can certainly weather some neglect!
I'm very pleased that this plant has produced a bit more bud than any one I've grown before. However, we did hit some bumps, and I think some hidden hermied branch somewhere may have fertilized some of the plant, as the bud came out a bit looser than previous plants and I found some early seeds developing. Regardless, I can't wait to bake it into some delicious treats! I haven't smoked any yet, but after it's cured for awhile I'll update with the balance, etc, though I doubt it will be too different from previous grows.
@Larimar,
Thanks! She has indeed been a slowpoke. I think the heat waves we've been getting may have stunted her a little bit a slowed her down. But it turned out alright in the end :)
@beadyeyes,
She is! A little slower than some of my previous of this strain, but she's got more colas than my previous grows so I think she deserves a little extra time! :)
@SlimJamie,
No thanks! I am a hobby grower who loves my plants a lot, and I care for each one until the very end. And she's still got a lot of life in her!
Thanks for your input, though!
