Last but not least is FastBuds Northern Express. Soaked the seed overnight and now it's in a damp paper towel wrapped up in a warm place. I'll update more over the next couple daze as she pops and I get her planted.
So... not off to the best start for my FastBuds run. I had all four seedlings under my weak (45w) full spectrum for the first two days above ground. I must have had the light too high and being such a weak panel the girls really stretched out. I got it under control as soon as I noticed what was going on, but now they all have supports until they get a bit stronger.
Anybody have an idea whats going on with this one? She's had this weird leaf curl since the leaves appeared... seems to be doing ok despite this. I was going to wait and see what happens when the next leaves that pop out, hopefully they are normal.
Also just starting to slowly introduce nutrients, quarter strength for now.
The Northern express is still showing signs of heat stress, I have my lights set around 28" from the tops now so hopefully this starts to turn around. It's the same height and stature as the other three plants that started at the same time, looks healthy enough despite the leaf curl. Guess we'll wait and see how this one goes.
Sadly, no great improvement with the Northern Express this week. It's still growing, but the leaf curl will just not get any better. Starting to wonder if I should pull the plug on her? I'm not gonna give up yet, but I am starting to accept the fact it might not pull through. I still don't really understand why it just happened to this one and not the others... maybe just a sensitive plant? I put a pic up of how they are in my tent... they are all treated the same, from day 1... same water, same lights, same environment. I should have referred to this run as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly lol... Two were good, one not so bad and one fugly! Oh well, live and learn.
Happy to report that the Northern Express may be back on track! I cut off all the lower crap that was curling really bad and she seems to bouncing back a bit. There has been new growth and it is not curling! Going to continue to nurse this girl back to health, The trick now will be to get as large a yield as possible after losing so much precious time in the beginning. I'm confident I can still make it worthwhile.
Big improvement in the Northern Express! She's still not perfect but doing much better. Still seeing a bit of curl in the leaves and the new growth seems a bit small. Also looks like a bit of nutrient burn on the new stuff. Gonna keep giving her lots of TLC and hopefully she'll produce some nice buds for me.
The Northern Express is still chugging along, she seems healthy enough but got off to a really slow start. Much like my GSC, I'm not expecting much of a yield from this one either. It was definitely in the worst shape as a seedling with all the leaf curling, and has turned around nicely... I just don't think she will get very big.
There has been some good growth with the Northern Express this week. She's filling in pretty nice, but there's not much sign of budding yet. She seems a little behind her tent mates. Not too worried though. For a plant that got off to such a horrible start she's doing really good now.
There's been nice growth over the past week, but she is still under-developed for this age. There have been signs of budding over the last ten days or so but she is slow to take off. Funny how different each plant can be. This was started with three other girls from the same breeder and such different results so far.
My Northern Express has finally started budding, being stunned due to environmental issues has surely prolonged her growth cycle. I expect she'll go into the 13 week range somewhere before harvest.
I started way more plants than I should have on this run and as a result they've all suffered for it. Some took it better than others and I ultimately had to chop my GSC because she just wasn't gonna do well. I bit off more than I could chew and everything I'm currently growing has been affected... lesson learned. Think I'm gonna cut it back to a four plant rotation, starting 2 plants every 35 days or so. I seemed to be getting better results when that's all I was doing things.
The Northern express seems to be doing alright. It had some environmental challenges in it's early days which has prolonged the normal growing process. She should be a lot more developed at this age. Bud production seems to be slow to moderate, she's not gonna be a big producer. The bud that is there smells nice, starting to smell pine and citrus.
This one is still going to be a couple weeks before harvest. No more upward growth but she's been filling in nicely. Starting to develop a nice piney scent.
This one's still trucking along... looks like another week or so though til she's ready. The buds have gotten much denser over the last few days. Not gonna end up with a ton off this one either, but whats there looks like nice quality. I'm going to do my best to let this one fully mature, but the extra time she's taken is starting to mess with my rotation... I have three younger ones that are really starting to stretch and are gonna need all the room I can provide.
There was a point in time where I thought this plant wasn't going to make it, it had horrible leaf curling in the early days and took a few weeks to outgrow it and get on track. I started four different strains at the same time for this grow. This one taking the longest to finish... and she's not really finished yet... I could have let her mature more. But, once again the tent is full and I have to harvest early to make space.
No doubt about it, this plant has the densest nugs I have ever grown, they are rock hard! Very sticky with a nice piney scent to it.. can't wait to sample a bit.
Looking forward to growing this strain again under better conditions, I see the potential for some beastly buds.
This grow had it's challenges but turned out pretty decent in the end. The buds are rock hard and smelly! This strain has a nice pine scent to it and is really sticky.
Wet weights came out at 280g, but it is still attached to a lot of stem.. I'll update more in a few days when she's dried out.
@Lou_Grows, I do.. smell and taste. I've never done a true side by side comparison. But I have grown the same strain twice... once with, once without and there was a definite difference. I've used Terpinator in over fifteen grows and plan to keep using it. You should give it a try for yourself.
@Tazard, I yanked the lights up another couple inches in there. They are now at about 28". Hopefully this can straighten itself out and get back on track.
