Diligent research was done before I finally decided to pull the trigger on these FastBuds Auto Blue Dream’matic seeds. Here’s why I choose this strain and company; the two parent strains are amazing (Blue Dream x Tangie), the THC%, the effects, the yields, the reviews and the flavor. FastBuds has amazing reviews and a great line of Autoflowering Strains as well as their Original Strains.
I named my first seed Alpha and my second seed Beta because I’m using the Greek alphabet to keep track of my plants. Now for the germination, everything went well. My first step was placing 2 Blue Dream’matic seeds on a very damp chemical free paper towel, folding the paper towel a few times to ensure full surface area water contact with the seed. Next I placed the paper towel in-between two plates (to form a dome and hold in moisture) and finally I set the plates in a dark area with a temperature of about 70°F. After about 36-48 hours the seeds started to sprout a small white tap root. When the taproot was a few centimeters long I placed the seeds into wet peat pellets, very gently, using a tweezer. After making a small hole with my tweezers, I carefully placed the seed about 5cm into the pellet (TAPROOT FACING DOWN). Then I very lightly covered it with loose peat. Once that was complete I placed the peat pellets in a small windowsill greenhouse kit to lock the moisture in place. Next I put the small greenhouse in a dark room with a temperature at about 70°F. Lastly I folded a dark towel twice and laid it over the top and sides of the greenhouse in order to block out all light.
48 hours later the seedlings started to poke through the thin layer of peat above them. Once the seedlings started to show themselves I took them out of the greenhouse kit and placed them in a room with natural light shining through the windows; so they could get used to the light and help the leaves fluff out. I took caution not to place them on a windowsill the first day so they wouldn’t overheat right away. The next day I let the plants have about 10 hours of windowsill sunlight. The following day I kept them in the windowsill all day for about 15 hours. I used a spray bottle to mist the pellets and keep them damp as needed.
Alpha was planted in an area of full sunlight all day. Beta was planted in an area that receives full sun exposure until about 2 pm, from then til dusk she has partial shade. Since I didn’t have a size limit for my grow space, I decided to dig 30-40gal holes. I used a grow medium consisting of 60% local natural dark top soil and 40% compost. I’ve found that shaping the soil into a slight dome shape will help with water runoff when it rains.
Planting was easy. Before planting them, I let the seedlings sit in a bit of water and let the peat pellets soak for a few minutes. I then dug a small hole about the size of a baseball and placed each seedling in the middle of their respective mounds of soil. It was important to carefully shape the soil around each stem to help support it because they were still very fragile and flimsy. I covered each stem almost completely up to the first leaves. At this point they were only sticking out a few inches but it was necessary to keep the stems protected.
After planting the seedlings I lightly watered the soil around each plant. Then, for protection because of where I live and how I’m growing, I either have a cage or metal fence around my plants to protect them from large pests.
