The critical purple seems to be growing really well. This early on in the game there’s not really much to do other than to make sure the top layer of soil stays moist. Even though this is still the first week of the grow I’m already looking forward to the first couple of nodes growing and seeing some serious height. I’m having some pretty high hopes for the strain. This is my first bro ever so I will be open to any and all tips and ideas so feel free to toss any words of wisdom my way.
Day 8 (6/24) - Nothing new to report today everything seems to be going well and coming along on time. I started adding CalMag to the water, I also started PHing it to approximately 6.5. I think I’m going to start doing daily updates because the plants have been growing more noticeably each day.
Day 9 (6/25) - Its been warmer lately and the plants are drinking well so today I started giving the. CP a little bit more water. Things are still going smoothly and I’m enjoying watching over the plants.
Day 10 (6/26) - Happy Double-Digit Day to my very first plant 🎉🎊🎉!!! The Critical Purple is looking good! I’m happy that I’ve made it this far and that the plants have made it this far. Slow and steady wins the race. I’m going to have to start doing daily updates because it’s growing faster now. It’s only going to get more exciting from here. I’ve been slowly increasing the light % daily and tomorrow will be its first day at 100%.
Day 12 (6/28) - First! I’ve noticed some discoloring on the leaves on top so I moved the light up about an inch and turned them back down to about 90%. I’ve been having trouble keeping the temperature in the garden because it’s been so hot the last couple of days. I’ve got three fans in there going right now: one on light, one tall oscillating, and one pushing hot air out of tent (bottom portion of door is unzipped). I’m planning to buy a portable AC for the garden next week but can’t afford anything big or nice. Any recommendations on how to keep the temperature down?
Day 13 - Added a humidifier. Both plants are doing well
I have discoloring on the top leaves of the plant. It started today and I think it has to do with the lights, so I‘ve turned them down and moved them up about 1-2 inches. Can anyone confirm if I’ve diagnosed it correctly and if not what the issue might be. Thanks.
I don't think it's to do with the light. Looks slightly pale, try upping your nutes /ppm slightly should be around 400/500 for this stage. And yes decease your ph to around the 6.2 mark and you may see some difference. You'll want to increase your humidity some how, I believe your leaves look like they're clawing up which suggest lack of moisture in the air. 🌱👍
Day 15 (7/1) - CP is thriving the day after its FIM session. The growth looks good to me..?? I don’t honestly know or have any experience to go off of. It grew a little taller and I was able to adjust the tie on it so more underleaf was exposed. This all took place on day 14. These pictures are the result. I like how much new green I see under after just one night. nothing has been fed to 5he plant other than calmag in water PHed out. I’m watering about every other day.
Day 16 (7/2) - The plant seems to be doing well after the FIMing. I adjusted the LST this morning and these are the pictures that I took tonight. I’m seeing a lot of tiny growths all over the place. I’ve kept the plant below or just at around 6 inches this whole time. I have a ScrOG net that I’m waiting to put in to see if the plants are going to get any taller. They are two weeks old and still look pretty small to me. Any feedback would be appreciated. First time growing and I figured I’d go big or go home with the training.
Day 17 (7/3) - She is doing very well and is producing new growth daily. And all existing growth seems to be progressing as well. The top of the plant is still around 6 inches due to all the LST and I’m looking forward to seeing if it’s actually going to shoot up. I won’t be able to provide an update tomorrow but I am looking forward to sharing the picture I take Sunday evening on Day 19.
Day 20 (7/6) - I spent a few more days away from the grow than originally planned but everything seems to have turned out well. When I got back I gave the plants a nice watering after about two or three days the humidity in the room was a little low so I also refilled the humidifier. I am liking the growth that I’m seeing I’m seeing lots of new growth in the middle and underneath but I’m still not getting the height that I want. I know the height will come with flowering but looking at other grow journals I’ve noticed that most plants are larger than mine at this stage. Tomorrow will be the last day of week three and then of week four.
Day 21 (7/7) - Last day of week 3! I’m hoping to see some growth really start happening because I’ve enjoyed watching it grow so far. It wasn’t until today that I had the realization that I was growing in fabric pots so I was actually able to fold over the edges of the pots this entire time. I ended up holding the edges of the pot today and much more of the side of the plant is being hit by the light now. I’m hoping to see some big improvements over this first night with this adjustment. The plant still has not been fed I’ve been in the little bit that was added when it was first planted. I did not give the plants a water today but I will be giving them a drink tomorrow. Tomorrow is the start of week four 🌱
Day 22 (7/8) - The critical purple is doing very well it’s going to be growing happily. It’s starting to get a little bushy in the middle but I’m noticing a lot of new growth so happy about that. I’ve been doing a little bit of a LST every single day so still right around 7.5 in. I think within the next couple of days I will be taking the time to install my scrog net. I’m looking forward to seeing how the next couple of days play out I’m ready to start week four. I’ve been taking the time to tuck the larger leaves behind it the newer growth.
Day 24 (7/10) - The critical purple is doing very well I’m very happy with what I’m seeing from its growth. I’m still doing LST every day making sure to keep the top branch as low as I can. A second branch has reached the top. I sort of think I smell something whenever I open the tent but I won’t know for sure for a few more days. Still haven’t given the CP a feeling I’m haven’t watered since day 22.
Day 26 (7/12) - Gave the plant a watering this morning and it is still going strong. Re-adjusted the LST trying to keep the top low. She started to show some pistils and I can smell something FAINT when I open the tent. It’s too early to describe it but I’m starting to get excited about it. I’ll try to get some pictures of the pistils when they are a little bit bigger. I’m really looking forward to next week.
Day 27 (7/13) - Re-adjusted LST as usual. No water today but the plant is for sure growing. Plant has reached 8 inches and starting to show some pistils so next week will be the first week of flowering.
Day 29 (7/15) - Fist day of Week 5 and of flowering. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Critical Purple does. Gave the plant a watering a day or two ago and will give another later this evening.
Day 30 (7/16) - I gave the plants a light watering when the lights came on because it’s been so warm lately. The CP grew about 2 inches overnight and I had to do some super cropping to the top tallest nodes. After being under the lights for a few hours they were already standing back straight. I might need the net sooner than I realized. Slight stickiness and sweetish smell to fingers after super cropping.
Day 32 (7/18) - I haven’t been keeping up with the diary but I have been taking pictures every few days. I gave the plant it’s first and only feeding today. You can see the dry amendments on top of the soil.
Day 35 (7/21) - Haven’t been doing anything to the grow other than daily trellis adjustments and watering every other day with PHed Calmag water. I did remove about 5 big leaves near the top that were blocking the center of the plant.
Day 40 (7/26) - Haven’t done anything new with the grow other than adjust branches in net when they get longer. I water the plants every 1-2 days and they are each drinking about half a gallon. Water has Calmag and is PHed, other than that that’s all there’s been to it this week. I took off about 5-6 larger leaves blocking the middle of the plants. CP seems to be throwing tons of pistils though. No distinct smell yet but I’m looking forward to seeing crystals. I bought a camera to look at the buds when they are close to filling out to check the trichomes. I’ll start uploading some pictures I take with them soon.
Day 43 (7/29) - Still just watering
Day 46 (8/1) - Basically just been water and defoliate so lower bud sites are getting light.
Day 48 (8/3) - The buds are starting to get a little shiny 👀
Day 50 (8/5) - The CP has stopped getting bigger but the buds are starting to slightly swell. I can also start to see trichomes showing.
Day 52 (8/7) - The buds on the CP are starting to produce trichomes. I am going to enjoy watching them get thick. Watered on Day 51 and just been watering when dry.
Day 53 (8/8) - Starting to see some of the pistils turn orange. I’m hoping to get some cool colors in these nugs.
Day 55 (8/10) - Still only supplying water every 2-3 days. I make sure to really wet the soil to make sure there is plenty to drink. Calmag and PHed as usual.
I haven't had to do much other than water the plants. I’ve been taking about 5-7 leaves off the plant a day to keep the bud sites exposed to the light. There never seems to be a shortage of leaves. The bud sites seems to be filling in now! There is a smell but it’s not overpowering. Hard to place it. The light is a little further away than I would like it due to the larger plant being so tall.
The smell is getting stronger but I still can’t quite place my finger on what it should be described as. Watering every 2-3 days depending on the soil. I never water until runoff. Other than that still defoliating every day and the buds are getting thicker. Now it’s just a waiting game.
Still just keeping bud sites in light.
**I’m adding a closeup picture of the other plant for a comparison of their bud sites. The bigger one is so far behind. Think they’ll still finish around the same time?
Day 69 [33f] (8/24) - Decided to take some pictures of the trichomes. They look so good already
These two plants were planted and germinated at the same time. The Kush XL (larger one) looks like it’s going to take a few weeks longer than the Critical Purple. What are the chances they can be harvested together?
Day 71 [35f] (8/26) - Definitely starting to smell when I open the tent which is really nice. The buds smell have a hint of pepper I would say. Looking forward to seeing how it develops. Bud sites are starting to get a little thick. Still seeing white pistils popping up though.
Day 76 [40f] (8/31) - No new news. Watering every 2-3 days with Calmag. Just waiting for the plants to cross the finish line.
