I am pretty restricted in maximum plant height.
My available vertical space looks like this:
140cm (~4.5t) overall grow box height
- 20cm (0.65ft) from the containers / soil
- 20cm (0.65ft) minimum ceiling distance for the lights to be properly installed
- 20cm (0.65ft) minimum light distance to plants
This equals a maximum plant height of 80cm (~2.5ft).
So LST is a must for me, which I started on the big one.
Tried to very carefully start LST on the small one as well by slightly bending the main stem which had almost no resistance because it did not have enough grip to the soil due to it growing (intentionally) at about an 45° angle due to light placement.
I immediately stopped, put a bit of soil around and "under" the stem, watered it and slightly pressed it down.
To keep the height down to a minimum I also decided to top the big one above the 4th node.
Now there's enough foliage to profit from additional light, so turned on the 200W 2700K CFL with a modified (aka cut off), more narrow reflector so it fits next to the LED lights.
Also changed the position/angle of the lights so the small plant now has one LED right above it to reduce further horizontal growth of the stem and strenghten it for LST.
The big plant is being placed between the other LED, which is now slightly angled at about 20°, and the CFL so the new growth gets as much light as possible from all sides.
The tiny one is slowly catching up in growth but there's still a huge difference.
She is at least a week away from being big and strong enough for LST though - she will probably end up pretty small anyway.
Big one took the topping very easy. Healed great and is growing rapidly :)
Any ideas on the bright/yellowish tips?
Nute-burn is unlikely since I did just feed pure water to that point.
Maybe light burn? Moved the lights around 5 cm higher.
My tap water is around 7.2 pH
