These photos were taken towards the end of June at around day 7 from going into the soil. Decent temperatures and humidity on their first day in the cupboard after being moved from their propagation tray by the window, and my hopes were high on my first grow..
Slowly growing with a small feed every day of 250ml and no nutrients. The sun was blaring and temperatures sped above 88f, though the plant reacted nonchalantly to its environment change. A cooltube was brought in with some silencer ducting. The smaller Bluematic seedling was placed back into the propagation unit alongside an NL Auto.
Temperatures and humidity sat at comfortable levels throughout the week, slow increase in water feed for the bigger pot. The wilted Bluematic in one of the smaller pots was planted at the same time as the largest plant, whilst the other seedling is an NL Auto planted around 2 weeks after.
Getting nice growth from all 3 plants now. They are each getting 500ml per day of sat tap water, nothing more nothing less. The better growing pair are both undergoing LST whilst the smaller Bluematic will be left untouched to avoid stunting its growth further. Some pistils are starting to show on Big Bluematic!
Nothing much to note, aside from the addition of nutrients! I'm adding a tomato complete food, Tomorite, because I had it on hand and it has a healthy NPK ratio of 4-3-6. I have some BioBizz BioGrow and Bloom set aside for the later stages of flowering. There were some warmer days again this week, pushing indoor temps up to 85f and its showing on the plants - some minor foxtailing but they're doing alright!
After noticing a tip burn develop at the end of the previous week, I decided to flush the soil with ph'ed tap water only to end up with what looked like a nitrogen and magnesium deficiency. I've since moved on to the BioBizz Bloom, Grow and TopMax with some Sea Weed extract and Epsom Salts. The yellower leaves immediately perked up with greens flowing back into the areas around their veins, slowly spreading outward. The flowers are now forming into nice buds and I'm looking forward to seeing it flesh out. There was some defoliation of the most yellow leaves after the nutrient deficiency, mostly a collection of lower fan leaves.
The NL Auto barely reacted to the change in nutrients and is still being fed the same dosage of Tomorite as it began to enter its pre-flowering stage. Still low and compact, though now firmly bushy.
Coming along nicely now. It's perhaps not the greatest yield but the buds look nice and frosty with an awesomely sweet aroma. The NL has plumped out nicely and is slowly developing some pistils, still fed by the Tomorite mix.
Outdoor temperatures have been well over 30c, leaving me scrabbling for some cool air. Both cooler fans were turned on for the first time in 6 weeks, in order to stabilise the air temp at 90f. The hairs are starting to brown on my Big Bluematic and the NL Auto is speedily catching up in height and width. There was some defoliation of 3 larger fan leaves to allow some more light through the canopy but LST has since stopped and NL is onto the same feed as the Bluematic.
Nearly there with the Bluematic, it's been given a last feeding of nutes and will be on pure sat tap water for the next 7-10 days until I get some amber trichomes.
Getting a bit more growth during flushing of the Bluematic, maybe just under a week to go, I'm guessing? Two smaller branches have been removed early for a taste test; one was accidentally 'supercropped' whilst I was being heavy-handed and the other came with it when I made the decision to hack them both away. I've made a decently potent small batch of Canna Coconut oil from the sugar leaves whilst the buds (about 2g dry weight) hang to dry for the 4th day. I tried two buds this morning which ended up flavourless and harsh on the throat but it definitely had the right effect!
The northern lights continued to stretch and build with some small bud growth but it looks like I still have some time before it's ready. It's now on a feed of 1ml/l BioGrow, 4ml/l BioBloom and 2ml/l TopMax.
Will update after 5-7 days drying and 1-2 weeks cure! Had the chance to smoke fully dried and partially (1 week) cured bud and they're potent buds! Great smell in the jar, a little less strong in the smoke but I burn with baccy so...😅 In total I had about 32g and about 26g is now left, nice plant and nice high
Aside from a brief N deficiency caused by myself, this plant was beginner-friendly, growing well despite high temperatures in early-flowering and a range of rookie errors in seedling/early veg. The dry was carried out in a cupboard (75f/24c, 60%RH) with the larger leaves removed at harvest with smaller leaves removed after 3 days drying. Total dry - 8 days.
