Jolan tru. This is another Romulan clone diary. I had ran this strain at the end of 2019, and that clone struggled through some conditions, and didn’t really take off. It also struggled with pests. I flowered it, had to substantially budwash, and it still turned out to be freaking tasty! I understood the hype. Romulan also has some historic meaning to me, back in the early days of buying cannabis online. Meanwhile, I cleaned out my clone box, discarded failures, ... and found a Romulan clone that had rooted! What a surprise. Great find. Lucky 13 Seeds only sells regular seeds, so I’d like to hang onto the Romulan female line. It took awhile for it to recover, even after transplant. I have since transplanted a second time. Its just been in the background for weeks haha. I am including both root shots. Today is day 82 for this clone. My veg. tent is hung mylar from my unfinished basement rafters, with everything sealed to keep the heat in. I was ready to reveal my new veg. tent from grow diary scratch, with dual LEDs, but of course the fans cut out on one light which delayed the creation of this diary. Turns out major maintenance is needed on the cheapie light, easily turns into more then fans. Easily repaired by my Jack-of-all-Trades friend, but these things take time. For now, I have put 64 Watts of fluroescent light up in addition to the 300 actual Watts of full spectrum LED. It drives me nuts to keep going back to the fluroescents, but at least I have it in times of need. I have included the damage photos my friend sent me. The most recent soil mix was used for other plants and was 30 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 worm castings: 1 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 1 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells. It has been in that new mix for two weeks. I applied some steeped veg. tea yesterday. I just took 2 cups of blood and bone meal pellets, 2 cups alfalfa meal compost, 2 cups worm castings, 1 cup Myke Flower mycorrhizae, and 1TBS. of blackstrap molasses and mixed it with 20 Liters of water. I pulsed the mixture with a concrete mixer attachment and a power drill, every hour or so for a day to aerate, and let it sit over night. The next day I diluted it around 10:1 parts water to mixture.

Day 89 for Romulan. Things were going good, no issues at all. This is probably a better start compared to my last Romulan run. I made a veg tea at the start of the week. I took 2 cups blood and bone meal, 2 cups alfalfa meal compost, 2 worm castings, 1 cup Myke Flower mycorrhizae and 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses, and mixed it with 20 Liters of water. I pulsed it through the day with a concrete mixer/drill, and let it steep overnight. The next day I diluted and watered. It seemed to take it well as it likely needed phosphorous. I have since followed by water as things dry out quickly now, a good thing. I plan on transplanting this one soon, monitoring roots at the moment, and also received some new amendment in the mail.

Day 96 for this Romulan clone. Lots of things going on this week. First, I transplanted to a larger container. I am using Gaia Green 4-4-4 All Purpose amendment as prescribed, and it worked out to be about 15 parts HP Pro Mix: 1 part worm castings: 1 part perlite. When I transplanted I did LST, just a simple tie. I played back the tea again because of the success. This time, I reduced the strength a bit using 20 Liters of water, one cup of blood and bone meal, one cup of alfalfa meal compost, two cups of worm castings, 1 tablespoon of Gaia Green All Purpose amendment, 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses. I did not have Myke on hand so I just tossed in two cups of HP Pro Mix soil, which has mycorrhizae. It would jus be trace as opposed to concentrated culture. I periodically pulsed the stew with a concrete mixer/drill and let it sit over night. The next day I diluted and fed to the plants. Probably early given the new soil. I’m hoping that the balance of the mix will delay any overload as I eventually irrigate with water. Monitoring pests in this tent (not spider mites), but I’m holding off on treatment as I have plenty of lady bugs around and having sex (I’ve seen it). As a bonus I’ll toss in some pics my friend sent me as he fixed my LED which will be soon returned. This is the lad who selected the Romulan female, and has better than things to do than GrowDiaries?? Come on Max Pointy!!

Day 103 for this Romulan clone. Chugging along in space. Gave some refuel today with another round of veg. tea incorporating blood and bone meal, alfalfa meal compost, worm castings, Myke mycorrhizae, and blackstrap molasses. It was very active this time. I was hoping for more established ladybug colonies, but I’m no longer holding out hope and have treated with potassium based soap and neem oil spray. All I had (I believe) were a few white flies and so its more preventative. Its been almost two weeks now but I will make a note that I did get my second LED back. Back to 600 actual watts.

Day 110 for the Romulan clone. Good week of growth. I had pre-flower troubles with the parent and slow growth, this is the most normalized and fast growing I’ve had this strain. Pest prevent has been continuous and I’d it to remain as prevent. Potassium based soap and neem oil. I’m sure the plants are on potassium excess, and in the group shot every one is drooped and drenched. The plan is to transplant Romulan sometime this week. The container us drying out fast, and I’d like to give amendment to last until flower, or nearly until flower. I took a bunch of clones as I’d like to get this strain in abundance.

Day 117 for the Romulan clone. Big transplant this week into a 5 gallon pot, or whatever size, I don’t really keep track of the actual measurements/units. The root structure looked great. I used HP Pro Mix with a small amount of perlite added, 4-4-4 Gaia Green all purpose amendment and Myke Flower mycorrhizae. This plant is getting big even after taking clones last week. I’ll have to figure something out for my veg. tent as some of these are getting really large.

Day 124 for this Romulan clone. It has settled into the soil/amendment now. This is one of the bushes forcing me to be creative with my tents. I cut a substantial amount of veg. to try to help out with overcrowding, but it won’t matter. I’ll look to flower ASAP. I have alot of potential clones off this mother, and threw a ton out too. I have only given water, and some Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) sparingly. I’m still keeping up with pest prevention if you can believe that.

Day 131 for Romulan. The time has come to flower this bush. Many potential clones cooking, if none survive then they don’t deserve to live. Guess what, my friend has over a half dozen more regular seeds of Romulan anyway. I treated with potassium based insecticide soap and neem oil. Yeah, really taking things seriously. This plant has had one night cycle, so this is the last vegetation update. The trigger has triggered. There still should be plenty of amendment so I gave a major watering to help adjust to the HPS. My flower tent area is 6ft. X 4ft. Shout-out to HellishJam and BudXs for helping out. I will likely give a little boost as stretch ends.

Day 138 for the Romulan clone. One week of flowering complete, eight weeks of flowering remain. Nothing new added, just water. Just relentless yellow HPS light. Got some stretch going on. Everything looks good! Can’t wait for the show.

Day 152 for the Romulan clone. Three weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. This plant is looking great, partially because its not touching the light. I fed 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz most recently as the buds are coming in strong now, added blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Just on the fringe of strong smell as I noticed Romulan when I opened the tent. I got my heat pump installed and I have a line feeding into the tent. At this point in the year the heat pump isn’t doing much air conditioning for my home, but I have my centralized duct work fan running on a circuit which circulates the total volume of air. I’ve seen some great temperature reduction, this is at the end of the full day cycle and its under 30 degrees Celsius, big change for me.

Day 159 for this Romulan clone. Four weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. Everything looks great. I am feeding 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz with some added blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), and then alternating with water to balance things. Food was the last irrigation. Romulan seems to not need alot of nitrogen compared to some strains and this is reflected in it holding its green to this point. The smell is coming in, lovely citrus/sour/tangie.

Day 166 for this Romulan clone. Five weeks of flowering complete, four weeks of flowering remain. Still pushing out a mad amount of pistils. No major change other than alot more smell. Very refreshing. I am still alternating water with food, the last application of 0-50-30 Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz with blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) was this week, as I ease off feedings. After seeing some other plants I decided to move Romulan right under the HPS here on out as the smaller size is a more appropriate distance to the light.

Day 173 for the Romulan clone. Six weeks of flowering complete, three weeks remain. I think I can probably look to implement some amendment to strengthen the branch strength, just sort of laying over, no matter. This strain is similar to my other Lucky 13 experience with Hawaiian Puff, doesn’t look pretty, and doesn’t reek from afar, but the smells are intense when examined. It looks like a ton of veg. and will be a pain to trim, but will likely be worth it. The aroma is nothing short of ZANG, ZING, ZOOM. 🚀 Like citrusy, tangy, it gets your attention. So close under HPS its hard to get sticky, but there are many trichomes hiding on the bud, very crystally. I last irrigated with a feeding of 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with added blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Fading the food now and preparing for the “just water” phase.

Day 180 for the Romulan clone. Seven weeks of flowering finished, two weeks to go. Not visually pretty, yes there are buds in that mess. Still smelling strongly. Usually it gives you a legend aroma, sometimes you can almost sense the similarities to typical strains, like a whiff of an OG Kush or something underneath it all. Not suggesting those are the genetics, but an observation that it is a plant afterall and not that dissimilar to common strains. However, still wild. I gave the last application of food, 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with some blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Just water from now on, and lots of it.

Day 186 for the Romulan clone. Eight weeks of flowering complete, one week to go. I will leave the next update open to one last look or harvest. After this light cycle, I will be moving this plant to my basement for the final week of ambient light and/or darkness. I will be clear I am not harvesting at this time. Thats more extended sitting in the dark than usual for me. I need to move things along in the HPS tent though. I am giving water regularly and will flush. The crystal is everywhere, not sticky, but dense! The crown buds are so beautiful, very smelly once disturbed.

Day 191 for the Romulan clone. About nine weeks of flowering complete, we just arrived at the window! After removing the clone from the HPS tent, it sat in the general basement for about five days where it got mostly darkness, and indirect ambient light on the 12/12 light cycle. I did not bother changing any stats. Harvest came last night and so this is the last check-in before review. The smells were very strong and the room where harvest happened still had the citrusy dank aromas the next morning. Crowns were very bulbous, heavy, and sticky. The aromas are pretty hit or miss but the grow itself turned out great, looks to be some nice buds.
