Solo Cup 2020 ... BeanswithPork has arrived! ... what a letdown. Thats fine, so what went on? This was a SECRET diary taking advantage of the “Publish/Hide” function on GrowDiaries. I’ll flex my ability to maintain multiple detailed diaries and state the origin was a sunny, stoned, weekend afternoon when I decided, why not? I bet that I could slam dunk a half-assed, late starting solo cup ... nope. But my half-assed dedication was more detailed and entertaining than *most.* This backlog has character, it has spunk, it has balls, it has heart break, it is better than a television sitcom.
I’ll dedicate this review and harvest to a few:
BudXs for growing the GD community, for pushing Beans to be a better Beans, and for validating this fun. You’ve been waiting. I admire his kickass guerilla solo grow that clearly destroyed my own in terms of flower. Lots of fun and entertainment, though I’ll call out your stamina down the stretch! Waiting on your end video to make up for it.(https://growdiaries.com/diaries/70388-jordan-of-the-island-black-cotton-candy-grow-journal-by-budxs).
Also dedicating to the great WildeWeed, the power couple and alltime growing and photo masters. Your dedication to checking out grows and loyalty make me want to write in-depth on the off chance you find it. I am hoping this will be a pleasant surprise diary for you, if you didn’t already sort of expected it. I know you’ll appreciate the insanity.

Last shout-out is for Shagrath for nothing related to cannabis, but for the appreciated connection through music and new material which has value for mental health and playing an instrument. 🤙🏻
The history of my seeds dates back to 2019 when I harvested a Laughing Buddha (Barney’s Farms’s outdoor grow).
At that time I thought it had been pollinated or self pollinated thanks to light pollution exposure during flowering. It turns out, based on male sex parts developing, that perhaps the plant was just pollinated normally. From where? This mystery has been haunting me. BudXs also got a little taste of this faux pas, and for that I apologize ... not. I germinated six seeds in six different soil medium mixes. As stated, two were male, and one died. The survivors:
No. Two - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings: 3 HP Pro Mix
No. Five - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings: 2 ABS Sheep Manure Compost: 1 HP Pro Mix
No. Six - 1 Perlite: 1 Outdoor Soil
The solo cups performed in chronological order, with No. Two being the clear winner. Overall, the plants sort of stretched outside, and then hit a full stretch indoors under HPS. Because things were quick and the solos slender, there was almost no leaf matter, and I quickly killed the remaining off. This crushed the overall yield.
The buds were mid range dense. They were more dense than fluff, clearly under indirect HPS, but far from rock hard. It never had consistent environment until partway when it remained in the HPS tent.
Smell was subtle, but was quite strong considering I only dried the buds. The buds did not look crystally, but revealed many trichomes under scope. The bud quality, texture, smell, was lovely once ground.
Ground smell and subsequent taste was notably fuel - I remember! I remember Laughing Buddha, my brain instantly went there. There was the presence of something else, and it has been quite some time, but I have no reference point for whatever has tainted the lovely queen genetics.
I clearly consumed the bounty in one sitting. I can certainly say I was stoned, notably I was laser focused on finishing up the diary. Creativity button noted. I was also up all night. Sativa.
So to list some pros and cons, or high and low points: the seeds had some awesome history (I also took out half of BudXs’ solo grow ... or so he has framed); all six germinated; we saw a control and different mediums tested; we saw some drama and sex reveals; we saw some neglect; we saw some twists and turns and then vaped it all away in a haze. The yield sucked. The taste was great (considering it wasn’t allowed to cure). The effects were great. The yield sucked.
Overall, I can have a ton of fun but I can’t betray myself and the ranking system. It was a 6/10, entertaining, but an allright grow and product. Six females would have been ideal, as well as more yield. Solo Cup 2021?
