They’re just getting regular water with no pH adjustment. Bubbling tap water for 24 hours. Going with the living/super soil thing. Bottom half of 5 gal bag is super soil, top half is the organic soil base. We will see. Looks good so far.
It’s-a-growing... Not too stoked on how quick the top layer of soil is drying out with the hot weather. Definitely see a decrease in predator mite activity on the surface... hopefully they’re still busy down below. I added straw to help keep the upper layer from drying out...
This decrease in beneficial bug activity could also be from switching to tap water... I did some rain water from my barrel to begin with, but got scared of pathogens because I know crows take lunch breaks on my roof and their scraps definitely means rodents coming in to clean up 😩 The tap water has no chloramide in it, so that’s a good thing. Hopefully my tiny air pump and stones bubbling a 5 gallon bucket for 24 hours gets rid of enough chlorine to keep the micro biological ecosytem in balance 🙏
Prime time growing right now. I think the combo of the weather and the roots reaching the super soil has inspired some vigorous growth.
Definitely noticed some thrip an/or leaf hopper damage. I’ve spotted 4 thrips and 2 leaf hoppers across all of the plants this week, although the overall damage throughout the greenhouse would suggest that there are more (even still, the damage is not that bad. Limited to a leaf or two on 4 plants.
Fed them a bunch of beneficial nematodes and did 2 nights of spinosad followed by three nights of neem, and then one more night of spinosad. Hopefully that gets things back in check.
I’ll be feeding a compost tea tomorrow morning.
I’ll be giving them a compost tea tomorrow.
I was under watering quite a bit in an attempt to make sure I didn’t flush out the benes and nutrients of the super soil. Ironically, I might have killed all the benes. Lol.
Either way, they’re getting about 1 gal every other day now. Growing strong.
Just did another spinosad treatment. I haven’t seen any more thrips in the greenhouse since the first treatment 10 or so days ago. Saw a leaf hopper in there though 😡
All plants are responding well to the increase in water. I’m up to 1 gallon with this one every 2-3 days, depending on weather. It’s definitely starting to cool off and the days are getting shorter... About half an hour less light each week. It’s officially underway. This one really filled out over the last week. This one is a week behind the other autos, but caught up quickly. It’s almost right on pace with the Gorilla Glue auto next to it. I added some top dressing amendments, high P seabird guano, a little neem meal, azomite, and some EWC
Early in the week I did an AACT tea. I didn’t know what I was doing (still don’t, but I’m learning). I most likely made it too complex and put every amendment I had on hand in the bag. Not sure of whether it had any microbial benefits or effect.
I followed that up with another nematode watering and I can definitely say it has had a major effect. Between the nematodes and the yellow sticky traps, there’s hardly a fungus gnat to be seen.
I topdressed yesterday with a mix of super soil, powdered oats, high P seabird guano, EWC, azomite, humic acid, alfalfa meal, and kelp meal.
This one is doing great.
I starved these autos by accident at a critical time. I was feeding/watering on the same schedule as my photo plants in 15 gal bags, meaning straight water. But the soil was definitely used up in these smaller 5 gal bags. It’s definitely turned around since the top dressing and Neptune’s Harvest feeds. Hopefully, these bud sites will fatten up, stack up and connect.
This Critical Purple was planted a week or so after the other three autos, but it seems to be on the same pace at this point.
Did a feed with Neptune’s Harvest Fish and Kelp Hydrolysate 2-3-1 at beginning of the week, straight water mid week and ended with a Neptune’s Harvest Fish Hydrolysate 2-4-1. This is on top of the P heavy phosphorus top dressing I added a couple weeks ago that is definitely starting to break down.
Posting these a bit late. I developed a bit of a fungus gnat issue that I think got a bit out of control and the larva were definitely stunting all the plants, some more than others. I think this one was hit hard. Slow development and lots of yellowing leaves. Seems like it was underfed, but I know it was not. I think it was really the FG larva just destroying the roots. I did a nematode release and OG Biowar Foliar Pack the next week. I’ll post results in the next week.
This has the most berry aroma I’ve ever smelled on something that I’ve grown. Underneath, it has some notes of diesel.
So close... One more week, probably. Smells sooooooo stinky. Pungent AF. Love the purple.
Battling a couple teeny tiny PM outbreaks in the greenhouse. Haven’t seen anything on this one. Changed the set up to put the dehumidifier and heater closer to the intakes. Defoliate quite a bit, added an oscillating fan and spread things out. The past day or two has been all clear.
Battling PM. Grower website says 70-80 days flowering. I got mine at 57 days since the first pistils... Not sure if I should battle it out vs the PM or cut my losses now and harvest a little early 🤔 Gonna be a day by day call... Starting to get some big temp swings and i think that’s contributing a little.
F61 - This open is really packing it on right now. Likely 7-10 more days...
F63 - Itching to harvest this one, but I’m going to let it keep going...one more week... 🙏
