It’s not much to look at, but this is my vegetation area. It’s nothing more than a 2x4 snap together shelving kit from Home Depot. I use the bottom section and the top holds my nutrients and water. I got the silver insulation stuff there too, but you’d be better off with just plain bright white whatever, instead of this reflective material. The ballast is a standard 24”, four light t5 hood. Because I only have one flower area and I don’t want the hassle of dealing with dozens of small plants, I normally let them grow until it’s time to transfer. In this case, I ‘ll take a bunch of cuts to barter with. They’re kept in half gallon pots with coco coir while growing in veg. The coco slows the growth down compared to pure perlite, which has failed me miserably in the past for vegetation efforts. It also affords me the opportunity to be able to leave for a few days and not have to worry about the heartbreaking reality of coming home to find an dehydrated, wilted mother plant. From half gallon pots they go to 3 gallon perlite hempys, veg’d for a week or so and switched to 12/12. - This is the most efficient method for me to grow at this time. I have contemplated some various modifications for the soilless medium and will be using them sometime in the near future. The ultimate endgame is to pull 24oz in a harvest limited to this 4x4 space. It’s rare to hear someone pulling more than 18oz, but with the right high powered strains, it seems like a long term obtainable goal. - My current grow is in the final weeks of flower and it’s just about time to take clones to replace the ones that will go in to the tent. The last time I took cuts, either the Clonex or the peat plugs that I used was bad, leaving only a few surviving, including this blue dream that I got from a friend, who lost his cut and now needs one back. I also borrowed an aero cloner from a friend that’s never been used, so I’m going to test it out and see how well it works. - I currently have 11 moms in the veg area, but I can only keep a total of 9 plants in the flower tent. I know from my current grow, that there is definitely 2 that I can get rid of; both being two of the three kiwi skunk phenos. I also have some liberty haze phenos that will go in this time around. I will continue to use minimal nutrients without any boosters or supplements other than a nutrient base and CalMag plus. - - I was finally able to take clones today and did a nice flush on the girls in flower. The turbo klone was pretty easy to clean and set up. I only need one of each, but took a lot of cuts just in case and to barter with. I also ditched the two kiwi skunk phenos because space has become a bit tight now and I just popped some new beans that will be in the grow after next. - The clones are doing great so far in the aeroponic cloner.

In this grow, I’m taking the remaining two kush cookies phenos head to head to see which, if either, will make it in to the next round. I had initially started with 3 seeds from Barney’s Farm. One began flowering under 24hr fluorescent t5’s. The others have yet to be grown in the same cycle simultaneously. I have been underwhelmed in terms of performance and potency. It seems meh at best. This is the last shot for these girls to make the cut. - This grow will also contain the last remaining Pineapple Chunk seed I ordered from Barneys. Of the three I ordered, this was the only survivor. One never popped and the other stayed stunted at 3 inches for nearly two months before just keeping over and dying. She’s in my current grow along with many others. I’m excited to see what happens with her. Has a musty tropical smell and the stalks are crazy buff, but I have a feeling she wont make the cut either. - I have high hopes for the Liberty Haze phenos which are the last of the bunch of packs that I got from Barneys. If i can somehow get at least one solid keeper from all of the “cup winner” genetics, I would be happy. I’ll definitely be looking on the interwebs for some new breeders and genetics to run for the fourth round of my pheno hunt. - I did happen to acquire some new seeds a few weeks back and decided to germinate them, but only the two glue seeds made it. They’re regular seeds, so there’s still that possibility of a male, but we’ll see what happens. - The clones I took are still running in the aero cloner as well. A good portion of them are starting to get white nubs near the base and a few even have roots forming already, so they should be ready for transplant in a few days. At this point I’m just waiting for the girls in flower to finish so I can get he next round going already. Man I wish I had more space!
