This was my first attempt, started at the beginning of the covid lockdown. The seed is a bag seed of unknown origin. Started alongside veggie seedlings under a T5 grow lamp.

Week 2 saw slow but steady growth under the T5. At this point she was still in a peat pellet. No nutrients, just plain old tap water. I think the light may have been a bit too far away, causing slower growth.

By week 5, she had grown roots out of her peat pellet and I transplanted her into a small seedling container. I used a washed container that previously held a vegetable seedling. I try to reuse household items whenever possible. It aligns with my grow-your-own philosophy of independence and resourcefulness. I think the plant was still a little too far from the T5, but I had larger vegetable seedlings that were sharing the space.

She continued to thrive in her starter cup. Leaves now spilling over the sides of the cup, indicating she is ready for a larger container. I give her a good watering and prepare for transplant.

Over the last few weeks she was moved from her seedling pot to a quart-sized yogurt container with drainage holes punched in the bottom. I also started feeding her once a week with a 4-12-4 fertilizer. That seemed to really encourage growth, and I was now having to adjust the T5 almost daily. She quickly was outgrowing the yogurt container and nearing a size I wanted to switch over to flower. Around this time she was beginning to smell a little and was no longer blending in well with the other plants, so I ordered a space bucket for a more stealth grow. I also took off a couple of clippings to try my hand at cloning. One did take and was moved to the side to continue to grow.

By now she had outgrown the quart yogurt pot, and I transplanted her into a 1-gallon fabric grow pot. I have her a final dose of 4-12-4 and moved her into a grow bucket for a final week of vegetation before switching to flowering cycle. At this time I also topped the plant to encourage two main colas.

Made the switch to flowering cycle and seeing the first white pistils appear. Only feeding plain water right now and letting her absorb any remaining nitrogen in the soil. Switched from three "blue (5000k)" bulbs and two "red (2700k)" 9w LED bulbs to four red and one white bulb for flowering. Tested pH and it came around 6.8. Clone growing well on the side.

Houston, we have flowers! Good to see the little alien pistils popping out. Started flowering nutrients 1-4-5 with every watering. At this point she is drinking about a quarter gallon every 4-6 days. Smell is getting more noticeable and she is stretching out nicely. Will need to watch for light burn.

Wow, what a stretch! They are now at the lights and I will need to add a spacer to avoid light burn. The smell is getting stronger and the buds are fattening. As you can see, they are a little under watered, but that is slightly on purpose to avoid over watering and the issues that come with that.

Flowers and sugar leaves are growing nicely. No major issues. Watering regularly with bloom nutrients. Doing my best to mitigate smell. Clone growing nicely, so will have this strain again, whatever it is.

Buds continuing to form nicely. Fan leaves are really starting to yellow and droop. I'm a little concerned but from what I am reading this is normal as we get near the end. The smell is really getting bad.

Her leaves are really changing colors, with the smaller fan leaves turning purple. I don't know what this strain is, but I'm calling her Lady 1 for now. We are within a couple weeks of harvest now. I've also had to move the space bucket into a grow tent with carbon filter. The smell was stinking up the whole house. So now I have a space bucket in a grow tent tucked behind a door, which seems weird but it does the trick! It's also far more discreet than having the buckets out in a corner. And it doesn't smell like a dispensary anymore. I'm beginning the flush stage now, so she's getting her last nutes.

Final days for most of this plant. I decided to harvest in 2 stages. Since it's a space bucket, the lower buds did not get much light and are immature. So I am going to harvest the top buds and leave the small popcorn buds on the bottom for another week or so to mature. She's had nothing but water for the last 10 days or so. Hopefully that's a good enough flush.

Thoughts on strain? This was a bag seed from the last few years. Could be from a street buy or a dispensary trip. If the latter, either a sativa or hybrid as I rarely ever buy straight indica. Chill high, not too potent or too heady or couchlock. Very functional. Thoughts?

I should add that it has a very diesel flavor. That and the very purple leaves up top I thought might help at least narrow it down. I know we can't guess an exact match, just thought it would be fun to get peoples thoughts based on the visuals plus my diary descriptions. Thanks to those who replied! What a fun first grow!

All I can say is that it looks like an indica strain. Without any special traits, no one will be able to give you a solid answer. If I was to take a random guess, I would say chemdawg with a random mix parent. Again, that guess means absolutely nothing.

This was incredibly easy to grow using basic nutrients. Being my first grow I did not get too fancy with techniques that probably could have improved yield, such as LST and more topping. The buds themselves were not very dense. Perhaps some side lighting could have helped. I also think I may have harvested a little too early. Had a diesel scent and also a grassy undertone. Harvested in two stages.
