2 weeks after the seed popped, 9 days after the seedling broke out of the soil's surface. I thought it was slow at first but it slowly has started to pick up the pace.
End of week comment and observation: What a nice healthy growth in one day from 22 Aug to 23 Aug.
Beginning of week 2 in vegetative state. I noticed since the previous week, that the new leaves are kinda round. Maybe it's an indica trait, can't remember the last time I saw this. I believe it was with the same strain or an auto. Anyway no nutrients no problems so far, I might feed next week if I see the growth has halted or some deficiency shows up.
31 Aug: The plant the past 3 days has been starting to show early symptoms of nitrogen deficiency, I waited until today to verify it isn't something else. Fed nutes at 60% recommended dose.
01 Sep: Slight progress since I fed the plant yesterday, I didn't expect a huge difference. It took time to show the deficiency and it will take some time to bounce back completely. I took the opportunity to top the plant at the sixth node today. We'll see how the plant reacts in the next days. The cut parts smelled fruity/sweet at first but afterwards it smelled like cucumber, interesting haha.
02 Sep: Okay, beginning of week 3. The plant seems to have responded quite well to the topping I did a few days ago. Even though it grew a few cm, I think the growth was a little slow so I raised it a little bit to get more light intensity. No visible change to the leaves that were affected by the nitrogen deficiency, but it didn't get worse so I am happy. New growth looks healthy and I am happy about that. So far she is a breeze to grow.
06 Sep: Growth is looking very good, she is hungry. From the looks of it she looks like an indica pheno. Since I like indicas I will let her veg a little while longer so I can yield a little more 😎
Next update will be on Wednesday beginning of week 4
10 Sep: Okay plant is growing just great. The deficiency from week 2 has been taken care of completely. The fan leaves may not recover but the new growth is looking really healthy and growing at a fast pace. I bent a little too much and one of the two nodes at the topping site snapped. It's alright though the lower branches will take advantage of the extra light. Next time I will start LST from the first week of growth in a snake pattern.
16 Sep: Alright everything seems to be going as planned. So far I am tying her up and when a few branches that are vertical but short grow a little more, I will tie them too and then begin flowering. Which will probably mean I will veg her for 6 or 8 weeks total.
21 Sep: Did some defoliation and the middle of the plant will grow some buds too, instead of just the outer part with the stretched tops.
25 Sep Update:
Nothing new to add. I think I might have been strict on watering and feeding. The plant seems to be enjoying more frequent watering. I will veg her a little while longer with a maximum of 8 weeks so that I can have time when she starts to stretch. Right now my schedule is crammed.
She looks happy by the looks of it. I hope I can maintain a good watering schedule for her, so that the harvest is at around 1 gram per watt. This is my aim with LED, even though this is my first grow I believe I am not aiming too high. 50 grams will last me through the winter.
30 Sep update:
Alright, the plant is growing nicely. I have set the distance between the canopy and the lamp. From what I researched this is the sweet spot. When I switch to flowering, depending on the stretch rate I will have to lower the plant a little to maintain this distance. She seems to enjoy the extra light she's getting and has had quite a growth spurt.
This light has exceeded my expectations so did this strain. I always wanted to grow this strain to see what the rave was all about. From old guides and articles that I read, I never expected that 54 watts would be enough, but I did the math and for this small space 54 watts is enough. So I tried it and so far so good. I will have a more in-depth opinion once I smoke the harvest for sure. Anyway, happy growing fellas.
08 Oct Update:
Boy oh boy, she has gained some height. I will defoliate her again and tie her down more. She gained more height than I wanted and expected. I will try to turn it to width. The past couple of weeks humidity has been crazy high in my area. Also she is so big that she demands more N now. I will give it to her and see how it goes... I will update again soon.
12 Oct Update: I think I messed up FIMming. Not sure how someone can do that but yeah. haha. I will soon flip to flowering.
15 Oct:
Humidity has been climbing up cause winter is coming. I hope it won't cause problems... The stems have been turning purple the past 3 weeks. The plant is growing in what seems to be a happy fashion. Can't wait to smoke this one. So tired from work and errands but tending this wee garden seems to bring happiness to me. It started out as a means to an end - weed smoking that is, but it developed to a nice hobby. Thanks for checking this weeks update fellas. Happy growing - smoking :)
22 Oct: Didn't stretch much, if at all. The little budlets are forming in a uniform fashion. I believe the flowering process will be a breeze. I was worried for no good reason about the stretch phase. My guess is I waited too long on this pot and the plant is slightly rootbound. Any bigger the pot though and I would have diminishing returns in terms of height though. Anyway that's it for this week, happy growing - happy smoking :)
PS: I know I didn't update in quite a while I was busy with life, but I managed to take care of the plant and take pictures on time, just delayed the updates.
28 Oct: Changed nutrient ratio to flowering. The plant seems to be on a slow but steady process of flowering. The budlets are still forming the base, and my guess is they will start expanding by week 7-8. The plant didn't stretch in terms of height, but I did notice it stretched lightly towards the edges of the bucket. This makes me happy as more light will be used by the plant this way since it uses more space. That's it for this week happy growing - happy smoking :)
04 Nov Update: Alright. The plant seems to keep growing nicely. The budlets seem to develop in a steady pace. I defoliated the plant in 3 parts within 5 days. What I noticed was that the parts of the plant that were defoliated later, the buds were bigger. I couldn't document this, but the difference was clearly about 15-25% bigger than the defoliated parts. My guess is that the non defoliated parts were bigger at the tips since they were absorbing a lot of light. Now the whole plant will have smaller buds but they will be uniform I guess. Anyway this lady has 4-5 more weeks to go. I have started watching some crystals develop which is nice. I am happy I had only minor problems so far and they were in the start of the grow and not now. I try not to stress the plant and herm, that would make all my efforts go to waste. Anyway happy growing and happy smoking :)
Looking good, but you need to raise your light, or turn it down. Theyre getting pale from to much light. I learned this with led lights when I was new to them.
@hanzo385, Thanks for your interest. I dont think the distance is the problem since I made the distance shorter a few days ago. I am sure it is either genetics or my feeding schedule and ratio. I think she wants more N. Maybe something is wrong with the soil. Because of that I dont wanna go too high on nutrients cause then I will create just another problem. So I am going low and trying to avoid any more problems. This is the first and last time I use this kind of soil, maybe I stored it wrong who knows. I will try a different one if I grow again.
@DunDerma, 1-3 weeks time. I don't know if I will be able to devote time to handle the stretch. Although I don't believe she will stretch much cause she only has 54 watts shinning. Thank you for your good word. Happy growing
