Germination

Horto_in_Urbs The very first seed from my 3-pack sprouted a taproot in the paper towel overnight. I put her directly into its final, 5-gallon fabric pot and she sprouted through the top layer two days later. I am running Nature's Living Soil concentrate in Roots Organic Original with a Dutch white clover cover crop. This will be a watering-only grow with Earth Juice Hi-Brix Molasses supplements down the road, and other boosters when flowering begins. The tent smells good and farty, so I know the concentrate is alive. I've had to chop down two original Cinderella 99s and one original Sweet Tooth #4 for being male, then today I chopped down my Finnish Frost for badly herming on me with only three weeks to go; therefore this is the only horse I have in the race for the next few weeks.

Horto_in_Urbs This is one of the slowest spouters I've ever had. It grew millimeters in a week. The cover crop is going to have to come out, mostly, so their roots don't get in the way of the roots that matter. Living soil, water-only.

Horto_in_Urbs I spaced on photos this week. Too much else on our minds. The extremely slow growth is awfully frustrating. The new leaves emerging look like the result of a FIM with weird duck foot attributes. I'll show you next week. I'm not sure whether to call this bad breeding or damage from the environmental horrors seeds experience in transit with the extreme heat we had this year.

Horto_in_Urbs Now you can see the weird leaves. The growth is picking up speed, but the growth tips are minuscule and nodes are starting to get further apart as it stretches. Yes, all that growth in the photos is one week. There is also a cal-mag deficiency going on. The living soil hasn't had a chance to kick in yet, maybe. I will be adding a tiny touch of CalMag to get us through, then nothing but water and molasses.

Horto_in_Urbs She sure got taller this week. Lots taller. The nodes are disappointingly far apart. I am going to move my two vegging Malawi to their own tent and swap the lights out. This thing needs its own space and schedule. And it started preflowering quite a bit. It's still a really small plant and I can't imagine getting the kind of yield I was hoping for. She's still pretty yellow from the CalMag deficiency, but recovering OK.

Horto_in_Urbs Doing fine with no added nutrients in living soil. It gets molasses every other week or so, but nothing else but water PH'd with Earth Juice's natural PH down so the microbes don't die as they're known to do with the synthetic PH Down (the orange one, you know it). The plant itself is spindly and weird. Nodes are far apart. Not much leaf density.

Horto_in_Urbs Flowers continue to bulk up. This plant started out spindly, and is going to stay spindly. Not expecting much of a yield here. The effects are going to have to sell me the idea of growing this one again.

Horto_in_Urbs I did a video to better reveal the lack of density in this plant. The red stems are supposedly normal for this strain. No sign of purples in the flowers yet, though I don't think it's going to be a completely green phenotype. It has weird deficiencies but keeps chugging along.

Horto_in_Urbs Flowers are fattening up. Not much indication that I'll get the purples in there, but it doesn't matter, seriously. As problematic as this plant is, it's developing fast and it smells good. I have more photos, but there's male nudity (as is the case most days, honestly), so see you next week.

Horto_in_Urbs Guess what. Purples in the greens. This one is not going to be an all-purple, like they advertise happens 80% of the time, but I don't care that much. The leaves yellowing is normal for this strain. Giving more molasses and an organic potassium boost.

Horto_in_Urbs NSFW alert. As if looking at weed photos is safe for work anyway. This is the final week. I pulled her from the tent and stuck her into a dark room to dry out in the pot for a couple of days, then she gets the chop and hung back in the tent for a week. No flush is necessary in an organic grow.

Overall, I don't think it's genetically solid and had issues throughout the entire grow. The yield could be so much better. The finished product is fine with really great effects and taste, lightweight bud structure, and face-smacking terps. Hopefully it was just the one seed that was probably somewhat of a runt.

Horto_in_Urbs She started out looking like a runt and seemingly wouldn't grow for days. When she started ramping up, mutations abounded. Weird leaves, weird colors, very frustrating. It remained spindly and sparse the whole grow, but the smell was fantastic. This was one of the 20% of these that do not turn purple, though there was a little purple mixed in with green in the buds. The effects are great, all that aside. I have two seeds left, so I have to grow them at some point. I expect those two seeds to be better behaved than this one.

Very nice! My LSD so small hopefully i can stress some more Veg time out of it and get close to this 🙌

@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, I hope you can. I thought the yield was awful. From the experience of others, it sounds like this strain might be like that somewhat frequently. I hope not.
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze
@@Horto_in_Urbs yeah i definitely ended up with some lower end testers in terms of plant size, got these a year and a bit ago so from an older batch i'm sure. The quality of bud was magnificent just small quantity, beauty none the less 😈😎

@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, The effects are great, no lie. I might pop my two remaining seeds just to see if they're any different and to get past the batch I was sent. It arrived when we had a heat wave and seeds definitely suffer in transit.
