V9 - Here we go again. Originally wanted to grow the usual 2 plants, but the heating pad got a bit toasty for them so now we're down to one plant. So, a lot's riding on you pineapple chunk (PC) plant! Hopefully, a couple toppings and some LST will spread her out to fill the tent. After putting seed in peat pellet and then inside germination tray with humidity dome, I used to place them on top of cable box venting grill. They'd have the perfect climate inside and seeds would sprout with no problems. Now there's no more cable box since we changed tv plans, so I used a germination heating pad that I should have plugged into a temperature controller. Currently, the plan is for 2-3 month veg depending on how long it takes to fill the tent. In few days, this'll get transplanted into 1 gallon coco/perlite mix then jump to final 5 gallon container for rest of her journey. This grow will follow a combination of GH Flora Series Drain to Waste feedchart (https://gh.growgh.com/docs/Feedcharts/GH_FloraSeries-DTW_03216am.pdf) and "H3ad's Formula" for coco (6 ml micro/9 ml bloom). Light intensity measured at 15000 lux using phone app and will be increased every few days.

9/4/2020 (V16) - Few days ago transplanted from solo cup to 1 gallon coco/perlite mix. Also, changed light cycle from 24 hours to 18 hours, decreased light distance from 24" to 16", and increased light intensity to 25000 lux. Today, topped to 4th node and may chop off branches on node 1 depending on how they look in next few days. Next step is some LST work with soft ties and binder clips. She'll be transplanted again once roots start poking out the sides of fabric pot.

9/11/2020 (V23) - Branches from 1st node weren't developing as well as nodes 2-4 so they got the chop. Placed some soft ties and binder clips for LST on remaining 6 branches attempting to maintain some symmetry in spacing and height. Also, had to do a bit of leaf tucking to expose the leaves of the new branches to adequate light, especially since her growth is quite compact at the moment. Light intensity increased from 25000 to 30000 lux. She must be getting lonely in there, regret only growing 1 plant.

9/18/2020 (V30) - Few days ago second topping done on main 6 branches and removed some of the inner pointing fan leaves to expose new growth spots. Prior to this topping all branches had 4 nodes, and current plan for this plant is to have at most 24 colas. Given the 5 square feet (60") of this grow tent, this would allow for each cola to have a 2.5" square space proportioned to it. So now, after also removing the bottom nodes of the main branches, there should be 4 secondary branches off each main branch, for 24 branches total. Might go down to 20 colas in future for 3" square spaces so we'll see how it plays out. Hopefully, she can be stretched to fill the tent without further damage (see pic above). Plant is still same height from last week due to the LST and topping, but everything looks almost level on top. She's getting thirsty too and drinking went up from 1 quart/day to 1.5 quarts. Need to transplant in next couple days since leaves are now 6" past rim in fabric pot. Removal of bottom nodes also provided some opportunity for some clone insurance in case this grow goes fucky.

9/25/2020 (V37) - Transplanted from 1 gallon coco/perlite to 5 gallon coco/perlite fabric pot 6 days ago. Big defoliation happened yesterday to remove the fan leaves covering up the growth sites in middle of plant. She's only 16" at her widest at the moment so still a ways to go to somehow fill the 36" tent. Have to do some major stem pruning and additional defoliation soon, just didn't want to shock the plant too much. Also, fed her Grower's Recharge (1 tsp/gallon tap water) one day this week just cause too lazy to make regular nute mix. Unsure how to proceed at this point to get the right shape, may top one more time?!?

10/2/2020 (V43) - Topped for third and final time 5 days ago along with some defoliation and LST. Hopefully, now, she'll be able to spread and fill the tent. Also, activated second circulation fan for beneath the canopy and reduced RapidStart from 2.5ml/gallon to 2.0ml. Have much more leaf plucking to do and maybe scrog will get pulled down soon. Light intensity measured at 40000 lux.

10/9/2020 (V50) - Pulled both scrog nets from top of tent, placed bottom scrog onto top of plant while top scrog waits for more growth. More adjustment needed to space out tops into respective squares in scrog, and will probably have to do some supercropping to bend and fit the stems and even canopy height. Bumped up armor si from 1.0 ml/gallon to 1.5 ml and increased light intensity to 50000 from 45000 lux. Going to have to increase nutrient feed soon since 1 gallon/day is giving less than 10% runoff. Almost ready to flip? Think supposed to flip when canopy 75% full?!?

10/17/2020 (V58) - Yikes, been slacking for past couple weeks and should've done more training to fix the spacing and canopy height difference, though, did quite a bit of defoliation and pruning of stems not reaching the top. Height shot up 5-6" in past week and now probably going to be forced to flip to flower soon, else the 62" (??) tent height will screw this grow. Still have to supercrop her and distribute the tops evenly into the scrog. Didn't adequately prune the back of tent either so add that to the pile. Took out most of soft ties temporarily to prepare for a re-scrog. Dropped RapidStart from 2.0ml to 1.5ml/gallon and increased light intensity to 60000 lux. Really have to flip before next week!

10/24/2020 (F5) - Yeah! Finally flipped after 60 days of veg. Was able to space the bud sites apart using the bottom scrog, but have to keep on eye on them as they get thicker. Height disparity between center of tent and sides is evident in pictures with the tent sides branches 4" shorter. Been performing the supercrop twisting technique shown here (https://youtu.be/Mk4VDddxmpo?t=329) and used in last grow diary. Going to continue the twisting every 3 days for another couple weeks and hopefully a knob will appear in the twisted spots soon. High humidity especially for this time of year! Might have to break out the dehumidifier soon.

10/31/2020 (F12) - Bud sites in center of tent now reaching to top scrog but lateral bud sites still 5" shorter. Performed more supercrop twisting on every node on every branch in tent 2x this week. Also, did some more defoliation and took out few remaining branches that weren't getting any light exposure. Big difference in temp/humidity between top of canopy (86F/46% humidity) and bottom of tent (72F/67% humidity). Can only raise the lights 6 more inches until it's hugging top of tent so please don't grow much taller! Intensity of Vero COBs now at 80000 lux.

11/7/2020 (F19) - Got rid of a lot of excess leaves, some underachieving stems, and those pesky offshoot lower nodes which were crowding out the main bud sites. Hopefully, this will give the growth spots some room to breathe. They're supposed to stop growing taller soon right? Grew over 4" since last week, but maybe that was the last growth spurt? Lateral bud sites still disappointing and some only reach the bottom scrog and may not be visible in pictures.

11/14/2020 (F26) - Don't really see any noticeable differences from last week and the buds are still on the lean side. Also, her feeding hasn't increased in a while, seems to be constant 1.25 gallons/day for adequate runoff. Guess as she gets plumper she'll have to drink more? Also, used Growers Recharge today in place of regular nutes, probably for the last time this grow. Light intensity set at 90000 lux for top of canopy.

F33 - Yeah, she stopped growing so no more worries about overgrowing the tent! Should do some more defoliation soon. Light intensity now at 100,000 lux for the tallest buds. Supposedly 80,000 lux is upper limit plant can utilize without C02 supplement, but the tent's canopy is uneven, so the high lux is more for the lateral bud sites that are few inches shorter than the ones in middle of tent.

11/28/2020 (F40) - Spotted more than a few fungus gnats trying to ruin the grow so had to resort to using diatomaceous earth (DE) and mosquito bits. Both were sprinkled liberally on surface and lower stem. No larvae appeared in runoff so don't think infestation was that severe but if they come back they're going to get a face full of neem oil. Humidity level at night is around 50%, and especially with the buds getting thicker, bud rot/mold is a concern. Have to start blasting the dehumidifier for remainder of grow which will both increase ambient room temperature and, annoyingly, raise the decibel level. According to breeder specifications, flowering time should be 55-60 days so 20 days left, but first few pistil hairs only just changed color so that's questionable.

12/5/2020 (F47) - Starting to smell some funky pineapple aroma so had to get some odor removing gel(Fresh Wave) to maintain the stealth aspect of the grow. Last week's fungus gnat treatment wasn't as effective as hoped and there still some gnats buzzing around in there, but not enough to use the neem oil which would really stink up the room. Also, added dehumidifier to room and decreased thermostat temperature few degrees to compensate so tent won't reach 90F. Hope she bulks out some more cause as of now the yield looks disappointing, but still have some time (maybe <30% pistils changed colors). Now not sure when to switch to Dry KoolBloom from the Liquid KoolBloom, going to research little more.

12/12/2020 (F54) - No amber trichomes so she not done yet, however, bud thickness is vastly underwhelming up to this point. Switch was made from liquid koolbloom to dry koolbloom on F51, and started at 1/4 tsp per gallon and increased to .375 tsp per gallon today. Going to increase further to .5 tsp/gallon in couple days in probable vain attempt to increase girth. No more calmag added to nutrient feed so expecting some foliage fade soon.

12/19/2020 (F61) - Almost there, first few amber trichomes have shown up so it can't be much longer. Hard to gauge how much amber but maybe <10%? However, the rest of the trichomes seem to be in between clear and cloudy so going to feed few more days with nutes (dry koolbloom now at 0.5 tsp/gallon) then flush with florakleen for 3 days before chop. Goal here is 30% amber so have to keep a watchful eye on her. A couple grievances: 1) She didn't put on much weight at all so she's much thinner than expected and 2) Where's the stickiness? Don't feel a hint of stickiness after handling the buds and that's worrisome. Hope this one's not a dud, but have to wait until cure to find out.

12/27/2020 (F69) - Chop day today! Last 3 days used FloraKleen for flushing agent. Could have gone a little longer and waited for more amber trichomes but ran out of patience. Now the 26 branches of the plant are drying in the tent. Current tent climate = 68F and 40% humidity. In couple days, might have to add humidifier in room to increase that humidity a bit and try to stretch out the drying time a day or so. There's probably only around 9 of the buds that are decently sized (see pic) so not anticipating a big yield on this. Unofficial total dried weight guestimate = 8 oz?!?!

Fairly standard grow, but I'm thrilled to have completed my first grow of a Barney's Farm product. The plant's height was the most surprising factor for me, at 37" after topping 3 times, it was unexpected and a cause for concern in my undersized tent. The sweet, pineapple scent was another thing I'll remember about this grow, and this could be a factor for other stealth growers out there worried about the smell in your grow area. Just hope this smell translates to the same taste after the cure. However, the harvest yield, bud structure, and lack of bud stickiness were disappointing. Perhaps if I had grew 2 plants in 3 gallon containers instead of 1 plant in a 5 gallon the yield would have been better and I'd have met my 1 lb goal. This grow also produced mostly popcorn buds instead of the donkey dick sized buds I was hoping for, and this accounted for the 8 hour trim job for this one plant since you have to manicure each one of those damn ones. Going to be a while into the cure before it's sampled, so here's hoping the taste, smell, and the effect outweigh the negatives.
