This will be a first time try with Double White Cheese and also doing hydroponics outdoors. I usually run RDWC indoors.
DWC seems very vigorous.
I soaked the 6 seeds for less than 24 hours in straight tap water at about a pH of 7.0.
Put them in paper towels and germinated them in zip lock bags.
All 6 germinated.
Added the seeds with sprouted tap roots to rapid rooter cubes soaked in water with a small amount of vitamino.
Put seedlings in a seed tray with high dome under a 18W full spectrum LED.
4 of the 6 developed roots out of the bottom of the root cubes, protruding out of the bottom of the seed tray by the end of week 1.
1 seedling died.
1 seedling clung to life and suffered what looked like deficiency or burn. It is noticeably smaller than the others.
The Double White Cheese All seem to be doing well, except for the one that isn't popping up. Another seems to be having issues and is trailing behind the others
I switched over to my regular Nutes, Blue Planet, this week. I'm most familiar with them.
I transferred the seedlings into 2 inch net pots and put them in shoebox style bins with air stones for bubblers.
They'll stay here until they are too big to efficiently feed.
These plants are more vigorous than the other seedlings planted at the same time(Blue Bubba Kush, Stardawg, Poison Kush).
The plants have been exposed to sunlight everyday since sprouting. My intention is to transfer the plants to an outdoor hydro system to let finish for the season.
This week the plants really took off.
They started showing small signs of needing more food so it was time to upgrade their situation.
They were transplanted from the small shoebox container and put in a larger bin able to hold 4 gallons of nutrient solution.
I added way too much silicablast and had to add pH Down and some water to help pull the pH back down. Next week I wont add as much silicablast.
The plants spend the morning until afternoon in the sun through a window. The 19W Feit LED light was switched out for the hlg 100 v2 4000k on day 4(18 days from seed) of week 3.
Finishing out week 3 strong at 12 1/2 inches tall for the largest plant. The plants started giving off some good smells early in the week. Rubbing the stem produced a sweet, almost cheese-type vegging smell. By the end of the week, the stems had become noticeably larger and seem to have a sticky quality that leaves your fingers smelling strong. The roots are looking really good too! Definitely looking like 2 different pheno's early on in veg. There are 3 about the same height and one that is a little more squat. It seems to be doing great though, stacking nodes and just as vigorous as the other 3. These are regular sexed plants so I may end up with a sausage-fest or they all could be lovely ladies. Either way, these are some pretty plants!
These plants are hungry and drinking about a half gallon of water a day and at 15 inches on day 24 from seed.
The 2 largest DWC plants were transplanted to 6 inch bucket top net pots and put in a larger container.
The plants grew about 7 inches this week to a bit more than 22 inches.
The two large plants continue to grow vigorously.
I had planned on putting the plants into flower after this week but plans changed and I had to hold off, but I got an upgraded flower area. That will take time to setup but it will be better than the previous option for this time of year.
The plants maxed out this week at 35 inches, they really needed to go to flower.
I adjusted the nutrients late this week to help gear up for preflower. Added more P and K
I had to go out of town this week and the plants just got bigger. Really needed to flower them.
Was able to finish enough of the new room and system to get the largest plants into flower. This will be some gawd awful stretch. LOL
I built a RDWC system that hold about 16 gallons. The plants are drinking about 1-2 gallons a day and are beginning to preflower.
These are regular seeds so I am waiting for them to show me what they are.
This is the first full week of flower.
I am continuing to get the flower area setup.
The plants have started stretching. Since they were already 5 feet tall i will employ some low stress training to position branches.
I don't mind working with the plant.
Plants are drinking a few gallons a day and I have been feeding them 1/2 strength feedings on a biweekly schedule.
This is the smallest RDWC system I have built and I am not used to the constant need to top it off.
Still waiting for the plants to confirm what sex they are.
These plants seems to be very heat tolerant.
Well, as it turns out, we have two outstanding male specimens.
I have moved them outside to finish producing pollen.
I'm moving some more DWC and Poison Kush into the Flower room this week.
I'll update on how the males progress and how they do outside.
Temps are still quite nice and it isn't getting cold at night yet, so they should be fine for a few more weeks.
