really excited for this second run of the cookies kush by barneys. taken 5 clones from previous plant which is now flowering, and meanwhile were vegging a few new clones to repeat after learning from the strains first run.
2 of these are potted in plagron promix + superworm (plagron) and added perlite with an added (self-made) organic compost mix that has a 4-4-4 ratio, and also added basalt meal and lava rock dust as well as dolomiete calcium for the growth and ph in the medium.
3 others are potted in garden-store-potting-soil with the same amended nutrients. now lets see if we can get this soil to live! :D
so i've started to work with some compost teas, mainly to give some extra life to the roots and nicely innoculate them.
this seems to work fine, and i am very happy to see the foam on my teas - meaning they are producing a lot of bacterial life.
all the clones are showing some nitrogen toxicity so i'm try9ing to hold back my waterings, making sure they at least skip on the water soluble nitrogen - currently the only weapon in my arsenal to combat this unbalance in my pre-amended soil.
off to a great start. new lamp is doing great but generates a little more heat than we can handle so we've built a little pipe that takes in air from outside. this should drastically decrease heat
off to week 3. this has been a really difficult run and this is proven once again this week: we've got ourselves some new enemies. Thrips are invading th plants.
luckily i'm not new to these and i'm using Koppert's mites to battle them.
compost teas seem to be really liked by these three girls. loving the growth on them.
bud developement is good but not great. i think these girls are stressing the f%ck out still from the thrips, early fungus issues in veg and overall real bad things ive done to them (low temps,, low light etc etc)
the thrips have been conquered! officially dead. now were dealing with mealybugs. Does it ever stop?
actually just finishing this run because some new equipment (better pH meter and paint for the room) are currently in order and were waiting for those, and also we just wanna see if we can battle all the problems that we come across. at this point wer'e not expecting much from this grow anymore.
i'm not sure if its just this pheno (same as other cookies kush diary) or our techniques and environment, but nothing really seems to make these girls very happy.
deficiencies are probably a pH thing or maybe just been to late with topdressing. i'm not topdressing anymore now, because its late into flower, so supplementing with a few pk boosters to give it some extra juice on top of the mixed in dry amendments.
funny that i've only recently foud out that there is HUGE differences in flowering time on different genetics.
this one is apparently a quickly flowering strain and this is something i havent kept into account at all.
running this another week and then will prepare for the chop, a few weeks ahead of time actually. looking forward to starting a new grow, i'm tired of these genetics tbh.
one thing i liked was it started to get a little purple but that didnt really come through in the end. also i like the fast flowering.
what i didnt like was that it truly was a bitch to grow, and if this were a bingo night i'd have crossed out nearly all the possible deficiencies and pest issues you can get. After being really happy with the purple punch genetics this one has been l bit of a disappointment really.
i'd love to see more information strainspecifically to come with the package of seeds. like for instance if its a heavy feeder, if it likes the lights close or far away, and how long the flowereing period usually takes. Probably not growing this again anytime sooon though.
