Nooneknowsthesecret Ok, this is going to be a living soil grow with two strains in a 20 gal fabric pot. The light I'm using is a 240W quantum board from kingbrite on Alibaba. I doubt I'll ever have it turned up to the max. It's hard to control the temperature in my small closet space. This will be mostly tap water only hopefully.
The soil mix is:
- ~1.75 2 cu. ft. bags Coco Loco
- ~5 gal homemade vermicompost
- 1.5 cups Neem Seed Meal
- 1.5 cups Kelp Meal
- 1 cup Crab Meal
- 1/2 cup Fish Bone meal
This week, I got the cover crop planted and spread some mulch. Worms will go in next week. Although, there could be a few already in the mix because I used homemade worm castings.

Nooneknowsthesecret OK, I think the A/C is not functioning completely properly. Temperatures are all over the place for now. Also, I'm considering building an ice box intake. Not sure how well that will work.
On day 10, I saw a small root poking out of the bottom of the diesel glue cup. I had a moment of paranoia thinking my plant was about to start growing into the soil beneath the cup and then I would damage the plant or not be able to get it out of the cup when transplanting. It was definitely too early to transplant and I thought that I may have still damaged the roots and given the plant some transplant shock. Oh well, it seems she recovered fine.

Nooneknowsthesecret Ok, I've been taking less pictures, but things are really ramping up now so I'll be taking much more. Both plants are in the soil this week, now we should be cruising along. I plan on top dressing some malted barley pretty soon. Cover crop is getting a little thick....
Update: Day 18 - Plants starting to get big. I top dressed with a few tablespoons of malted barley to help with the microbial life and so the worms can eat. I also chopped and dropped the cover crop right on top of the mulch.

Nooneknowsthesecret This week the Diesel Glue gets topped and LST'd. I topped the sweet tooth but I think I want to wait just a little longer for the LST. It's lagging a bit behind the diesel glue, but hopefully that is just due to strain differences. I did another cover crop chop this week. Also, I fed with some Aloe Vera blended in water on day 23.
I built a DIY watering system from some parts I found at the hydro store. It kind of works. I don't trust it completely and I'm still testing it.

Nooneknowsthesecret Not much happens this week. I tested the watering system and I was having problems with the drippers. Eventually I decided that it was better to maybe test it again after the plants are cut down. I don't want to damage the roots accidentally while sticking the drippers in and out. I'm going back to hand watering.
I started to see some deficiencies popping up this week. I'm suspecting a pH imbalance.
The plants are really getting large now and I think I'm going to flip to flower next week or so.

Nooneknowsthesecret It is getting really thick this week. I tightened down the LST to open the plants up some more and make sure they have more room to stretch during flower. I did a light defoliation on the second day after flipping the lights. This week, I top dressed with Fish bone meal, Kelp meal, and Alfalfa meal. I had a sample package of recharge that I got from the hydro store so I added that to the water once this week. I might start upping the water the plants are getting this week. I think the pot can take a bit more than I am giving them. I want to really make those nutrients down in the bottom of the pot available for the plant to grow its roots into.
I think the worms are doing well. I've been seeing thick mycelium and then it disappears again. Also whenever the cover crop is chopped, it doesn't seem to stick around for much more than a week or two. I'm assuming the worms are having their fill of the greens and microbes in the pot.
I've been spraying the plants this week with Neem oil before the flowers really start growing as a preventative for pests. I definitely should have started this weeks ago but better now then never. I'm only going to do it this week because I don't want this to really get in the buds. I also bought some nematodes that I will water in the beginning of the next week. They should be able to take care of any larva in the soil that could cause me a problem (hopefully).
This is the beginning of the exciting part. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.

Nooneknowsthesecret Got the nematodes in on the first day this week. I'm going to do another application later this week. Girls are showing nice preflowers. It looks like their recovering from their deficiency last week. I may top dress again in a few weeks.

Nooneknowsthesecret These plants are stretching so tall. The sweet tooth is having a bit of light burn. I am running out of vertical space in the tent for them. I remounted the lights with rubber bands to see if I could squeeze out a few more inches of space for them to grow. Hopefully they stop before they hit the light....
Nooneknowsthesecret I am officially out of space. If they grow any more then we are in trouble. The stretch has definitely been crazy on these two especially the Diesel Glue. It looks like they're done stretching now (hopefully). The light burn doesn't seem to be progressing so I'm going to try to ride it out.
Looks like I'm getting a bit of phosphorous deficiency going on this week. I top dressed with some malted barley and I'm going to top dress with some more worms and worm castings to see if we can that under check.
Smell is starting to get a bit stronger.
