Starting the new grow. This will be the same strain as last time so I can do a comparison for improvements from lessons learned during my initial grow. I soaked 2 seeds for 24 hours, then placed them in damp paper towel for 36 hours to pop and grow approx 1/2" tap root. I an using Foxfarm Coco Loco in 5 gal fabric pots. Seeds were planted into pots yesterday, sprouted today. I have two on the map! Always good to start with 100% germ and sprout rates.
Lessons learned during first grow:
1) Do not bury seeds too deep in soil
2) Light height, temperatures & humidity levels REALLY matter for optimal yields. I monitored, but did not alter those 3 parameters enough during my first grow for optimal yields.
3) Train train train your plants! I failed to train enough during the early flower stage and it cost me dearly in having my plants too tall for my tent. Light burn ensued even after purchasing a taller tent
4) The first 3 weeks of flowering is when you set the final shape on the plant. For this grow I am seeking a candelabra shape to give better spacing between my tops.
5) Defoliate first time towards end of veg - lollipop and strip bud sites to the top nodes only
6) Continue to defoliate every few weeks to remove any large fan leaves (hand sized) or new bud sites/shoots on the lower half of the plants
7) Alternate watering between full nutes and PH water only throughout the grow.
8) Utilize 2-3 days of darkness at the end of the grow before harvest to boost trichomes.
Start of second week. Removed the domes a few days ago. Been lightly spraying the soil around the plant with PH water twice per day just to keep it damp close to plant. Did first nutes last night. Gave each plant one cup of nutes. Finishing harvest of crop #1 tonight and will be cleaning the 2x4 tent afterwards and moving these into the larger tent tomorrow. So far so good. 👍
Well one plant has really jumped well ahead of the other. I might have done a little over watering a few days ago. One looks really healthy. The smaller one looks good still, but I have some concerns since it’s only half the size of her sister.
