Starting this journal from the beginning, a bagseed from a pleasant, purchased bag. Seed looks healthy.
I wrapped it in a paper towel and left it in a ziplock by the windowsil for 4 days, until it showed about 1-2cm of root, and then planted it.
Man, rough start.
I woke up one morning and the thing fell over entirely, I think due to lack of airflow and too much water, "damping off" is the term I learned this week, what I think is going on.
I transplanted it, twice actually, once when it was still upright but leggy, and then after it fell over, setting it deeper each time.
When it fell I propped it up with a skewer and a very loose twist-tie and it has actually done ok. I buried the dark, pinched looking stem, hoping it doesn't progress
pray for seedling
It recovered! Saved from damping off, I think the repotting is what helped the most.
I was able to take the stake + tie off and it's standing up nicely on its own, has some nice fat indica looking leaves on it, compared to CMOG (chocolate mint OG) from my first grow.
I'm watering from the bottom now with my desk plants, trying to control gnats which I still see occasionally flying around, traps are down as well.
I'm going to let this grow nice and tall, maybe 2 more weeks, before I top it and try to propagate a cutting and then I'll throw one of those in the flower tent to find out if I have a male or female. If it's a male I'm going to cross it with one of my CMOGs
It's been growing nicely, a thick stem on it, fat leaves, so different from my chocolate mint OG.
I topped it, pretty aggressively, as I've done on previous grows. The cutting is in water and is sucking it up nicely, I'm watching it carefully and hope to put it in dirt in maybe 3-4 days. It's in the vase with two other cuttings (CMOG), that's why it looks so full/bushy in there.
I only had one seed of this strain from a bought-bag, so I hope it succeeds.
It recovered very well from the topping, and has two nice and symmetrical growths on top. I want to let it grow out for another 2 weeks to hopefully get two more cuttings out of it.
The cutting is...not doing so well. I didn't see any root hairs develop after 5 days in water but transferred it to soil anyways. All the leaves are drooping, bottom leaves are yellowing. I've seen cuttings recover from this state (even pulled some that ended up having nice root development) so I don't think it's totally lost yet. I backed off on watering it a little and will just hope for the best. Rough grow so far.
I ordered colloidal silver with the plan to either use it on my other grow, or this one if it ends up being male. I want to produce some CMOG feminized from my other grow or a CMOG x Blueberry/WW using these genetics.
I also want to do a full grow of this blueberry next round if it ends up being female. It's so different from the CMOG genetics, leaves look very indica and it has a more intense smell even in veg.
Clone/cutting recovered and is doing well. I cut the two top most leaves and the already yellowed lowest fan leaves off, and cut back on watering, and she did well.
The mother plant grew two really nice tips after the cutting...and so I cut those off to clone! I plan to grow a couple of these once the current tent batch finishes, and then use one for breeding with CMOG.
The mother already has two new growth tips coming from a middle node, so I imagine those will take off with growth by next week.
I have one plant in the tent currently that is 4 weeks ahead of the others, so maybe when that one finishes up soon I can put one of the blueberryxWW's into flower to determine the sex.
update 11/2: I threw the "mother" into the flowering tent to find out the sex. The clone is doing well and the two new clones are still just in water for now, looking good.
update 11/8: I put the cutting into the flowering tent as well, so the mother and the original cutting are in the tent now, approx 1 week apart
Everything is growing great. Stem is getting thicker than my first grow with the other strain, CMOG.
I moved the original seed plant to the flowering tent, it's actually still just in a 0.33 gal pot, I think smaller than a solo cup. I'm going to get another 1 gallon pot to transplant it to maybe this week. I also want to put in pc fans rather than the white clip fan, to free up more space for another pot in the tent, 6 total.
The first clone is now taller than the mom plant. I cut two additional clones from the mom last week and those are still in water rooting, looking much healthier than the first clone I took.
The mom has been in the flower tent for 4 days now, nothing obviously showing yet.
I'm waiting to find out if it's male or female. If male i'll make some reg hybrid seeds, if female I'm going to turn one of the clones into a male with colloidal silver spray to make feminized seeds.
The first pic is a trashcan because that's where most of the grow is, I caught a male, this was the only seed I had from this bag so that's done.
I kept one male, you can see the pollen sacs very clearly. I think I'm actually going to try to harvest some pollen and then put it on one of my chocolate mint OG ladies.
Last pic is a strawberry daiquiri bagseed that looks a little underdeveloped. Hopefully it works, hopefully it's female.
That's it for this journal. Thanks for the likes.
Back with a pic of the pollen sacs. I'm going to be collecting and using the pollen to produce some seeds. This is my first time. I moved them into a different room so it doesn't ruin my current batch.
I'll be starting new journals with the resulting seeds
End.
