1. Week 1 of the 2020 Fall Tour. I have 5 girls in the tent. I'll do a grow diary on a few of them. This is a White Widow Photo Strain from Growers Choice Seeds.
2. Currently I'm misting the soil daily to keep the roots hydrated. Once she reaches her second node I'll start foliar feeding at 25% using Remo Nutrients.
3. After I transplant to 5g canvas pots, I'll start feeding via soil as well.
4. My plan is to top after the 5th node and prune off node #1. While waiting for node 5 to grow in, I'll use LST and defoliation to train the nodes into a compass rose pattern. That will give me 8 primary colas by the time I'm done.
1. WW now has a 2 fully formed sets of leaves.
2. Secondary growth at the nodes is starting to appear.
3. Sprout was given her first watering. 400ml of filtered water with a 25% veg. nute solution. I won't feed again for another week or so. However, I will be misting several times a week.
4. I plan to transplant when the 3rd node is starting to appear, or when I start seeing roots coming from the drainage holes.
1. Sorry I missed a week. I was out of town and had someone watch my plants while I was gone. I came home and they were a bit over-watered! The bottom fan leaves were yellowing and growth was really slow. I figured now would be a great time to repot the seedlings.
2. I let the soil in the starter pots dry out for 4 days total. In the meantime I used Batch 64 soil to fill a 5g smart pot. I pre-soaked the pot using 1g of filtered water with a 25% Remo Vegetative solution.
3. I transplanted on Tuesday. I'm noticing growth is picking up since yesterday. I'll trim off the damaged leaves once growth is at a more normal pace.
I usually see about a node a day when my girls are really happy.
4. Currently I am not feeding. I need to see this girl a bit healthier before I start adding nutes.
1. WW has finally recovered from transplant shock. She is starting to really pick up her growth.
2. She had some spotting and leaf discoloration early on. Most of that has gone away, but there is still some discoloration of the newer leaves. Hopefully that will go away now that I've started their feeding regimen.
3. I started feeding this week with a full strength solution of Remo Veg. Nutes in 2L of filtered water. I noticed a definite pick-up in appearance and growth as soon as I fed the plant. I'll probably feed every 4 days, depending on quickly she absorbs the moisture in the soil. I'm also foliar feeding with a 25% veg. solution about 2hrs. prior to the lights coming on in the morning.
4. I haven't done any defoliating, or topping yet. I'd like to get her nice an healthy before I stress her out.
1. WW finally took off this week. She is growing some giant fan leaves!
2. I defoliated most of the fan leaves from the main stalk on Friday. I left the bottom fan leaves and the fan leaves at the very top. This will allow the lower bud sites more light so I can begin training the secondary nodes.
3. I'll have to trim the top fan leaves again prior to topping her sometime next week.
4. I fertigated WW with 2l of filtered water and full strength veg. nutes. She responded accordingly! She is turning into a very vigorous plant.
1. WW is taking off! I'm seeing a ton of new growth on a daily basis.
2. I topped, pruned and defoliated her a day or two after my last post. I provided pictures. I basically topped at the 5th node and started training out the secondary nodes.
3. I defoliated today. I provided before and after pictures to show how the training is going.
4. I check WW daily to adjust her training hooks. Once the bud sites are in the correct place, I'll let them start growing upward. I hope to create a fairly even canopy before I flip to flower. I thought about setting up my SCRoG netting, but its only 3x3 and my space is 4x4. also, I'm lazy.
1. I'm on the final stages of my mainlining/LST program. I started training the top 2 bud stalks to grow more horizontally. That will give the bud sites below it time to catch up to form a more even canopy.
2. I'm still training the lower nodes out, but they are almost done and ready to start growing vertically.
3. I've been constantly pruning the interior growth to direct the energy towards the main bud sites. By the time I'm done I should have 10 solid colas.
1. Last week of veg. for WW. I did a final defoliation to open up the bud sites and I removed most of the LST supports.
2. I increased the dosage of her veg. nutes. She was getting 6ml per gallon. I increased it to 8ml per gallon.
3. I also stopped using Nature's Candy for the time being. It's amazing what you find out when you read the directions carefully. I'll start using it again when I switch to flowering nutes.
4. I fertigated today (Saturday). She'll be ready for another round probably Tuesday. That will be the last veg. feeding prior to flipping to flower. I'll continue veg. nutes for another week or so while she does her stretchy thing.
5. WW will get an extended dark period on Wednesday or Thursday to reset her clock to flowering. The time will be extended because I have to switch the lights to winter mode. Currently the lights are on during the day. Since it's so cold, the lights need to be on at night to keep the room warm enough. I have little space heaters in case it gets really cold, but I only have to use them sparingly throughout the winter.
1. WW is on the way to flowering! I flipped the tent to 12/12 after giving her a 22 hour dark period. 22 hours isn't a magical number. I let the lights stay off instead of coming on in the morning then I turned them on that night using their new schedule. I need my lights on at night in the winter. Currently they were going off at midnight and coming back on at 6AM. Now they come on at 10PM and go off at 10AM.
2. Nutes will remain the same until she stops stretching. I'm expecting another 6 inches or so once she is ready to concentrate on buds.
1. I'm right in the middle of the stretch I do believe. She's grown about 8 inches since I flipped the tent last weekend. I excpect a few more inches before she is done.
2. Pre-flowering pistils are easily noticeable at all nodes. You can barely see the emergence of the flowers. I should have full-on flowering within a few days.
3. I'm changing over to flowering nutes this next feeding. I fertigated twice using veg. nutes during the stretch. I think now would be a good time to switch over.
1. WW is in full flower mode now. She will probably grow a few more inches, but she is mostly producing buds.
2. I've started using the flowering nutrition schedule from Remo. They have responded really well to these nutes.
3. I started defoliating and pruning late last week. I'm defoliating about 10 leaves a day to really open up the bud sites. I've done a little bit of pruning, but I'd like to see the flowers mature a little bit more before I make any major pruning decisions. I'll probably due light pruning every few days until I'm happy.
1. This is one beautiful plant! I think she is done stretching at this point.
2. I've been defoliating a bit. I do about 10 leaves or so every few days. I'm trying to open up the bud sites to the light. I also want to open the plant up a bit to give it better circulation.
3. I'll prune all the lower popcorn branches this week and finish the bulk of the defoliation. After that its feed and watch her flower!
4. I thought earlier in the grow that I might be able to fit 5 plants in my 4x4, but now that all 4 of my plants are flowering, there is barely enough room for them! I guess 4 is the limit.
1. WW is doing her thing. She is stacking buds nicely. There is a nice aroma when I water, or defoliate. The buds are pretty dense even at this early point.
2. She didn't grow as tall as I expected. She's barely 2 feet tall. However, I did a lot of LST and topping early on to keep her shorter. Next time I might let her bud stalks grow out a bit more so she is taller.
3. All fertigation remains the same. I'll start tapering Cal/Mag at the late flowering stage in about 3-4 weeks it looks like. I'll use only filtered water for the final 2 weeks.
1. WW is starting to get thick! Buds are seriously acquiring some bulk.
2. Everything is going smoothly. I've cleaned up the under canopy. I won't touch that for the rest of the grow. I've defoliated as much as I think was needed at the time. I'll continue to trim off leaves that shade the bud sites, but otherwise all I'm going to do is water and watch.
3. WW seems a little further along than a few of the other plants in the tent. I'll probably start to taper nutes within the next 2 weeks. I don't use nutes the final 2 weeks of the grow. It's how I've approached flushing.
1. WW is coming along nicely. She is starting to throw some purple hues. I didn't expect this. It's probably due to lower temperatures. I don't mind though. She smells wonderful. The buds are getting really round and phat!
2. I've cleaned out the under canopy and most of the errant leaves. I'll trim a little bit here and there for the next few weeks.
3. I've been reducing the amount of Cal/Mag from 8ml/g to 5ml/g. This week I'll discontinue use of Cal/Mag and reduce the other nutes from 8ml/g-5ml/g for the next 2 weeks. After that its just filtered water until harvest.
4. WW will be at 10 weeks from flowering on the 20th of February. That will be my projected harvest date.
1. She's looking mighty frosty! I'm also getting some nice purple due to the cold.
2. The photo tent is sticky and smelly! I usually don't notice the smell that much when I go into my grow room, but these plants are really putting out the aroma. The grow room smells really fruity and a bit like candy.
3. I've started the final stage of flowering nutes. I stopped using Cal/Mag altogether. I've also reduced the quantity of the other nutes from 8ml/g-5ml/g. I'll keep that up for the next 3 feedings then it will be filtered water for the final 3 feedings. That puts me about 3 weeks from harvest.
1. This is about it. I've started to see a few amber trichomes. The sugar leaves are showing a wonderful autumn color. I posted pictures. I've never seen a fade look like this before.
2. She's received 2 waterings of filtered water. I'll probably take her down late this week.
3. She has been an easy girl to grow. A few things I didn't expect" The purple color of the buds and the strange fading of the sugar leaves.
1. I really mean it, this is the final week! Trichomes have been a bit stubborn. That was the last item on my harvest checklist.
2. I watered for the final time last Saturday. I'll harvest this Wednesday.
This was an easy, straightforward grow. She was a champ from germination to harvest. She was happy as long as I had a decent feeding schedule. She was never demanding in terms of not enough, or too many nutes. The purple color really did throw me off. I expected white frosty buds. I guess the colder weather really did have an effect on this strain. Interesting how none of the other plants in the tent exhibited any purple coloration.
