Well, my second Mimosa grow shows a bit more of what this strain, and the genetics, are capable of. Think I’ll try more of Barneys genetics after this grow... A healthy veg cycle allowed for proper training of these girls with amazing results. Buds are massive and look amazing! Harvest was tremendous with a total of 50+ crowns. Got some hand sized buds from this grow, biggest colas I’ve managed to grow yet! Needless to say I’m looking forward to putting this harvest through some field testing. Will update with a smoke report/final totals in a couple weeks. Happy growing! Update Nov 14: Finished up the trim last night. Total harvest weight was around 12.5 ounces! Sampled some this morning, with very uplifting and energetic results. The citrus smell is strong as is the taste, with notes of pine. It was also quite smooth for only being chopped 9 days ago and I expect the smoothness and taste to improve during curing. THC levels are through the roof! Didn’t take much to get the job done. Overall I’m once again extremely impressed with the Mimosa EVO and plan on trying some more of Barneys genetics in the near future.

Second grow of this strain turned out to be much more successful then the first one. After re-calibrating my PH pen, and another reminder as to how important PH levels are, I was able to dial things in for this second attempt. Upgrades to the flower light, and allowing for a full flower cycle under it, definitely contributed to the success of this grow. I’d highly recommend the IF Equinox 660 to anyone looking for a midrange light to upgrade their indoor setup. Also Remo nutrients have never let me down, and are very beginner and cost friendly. Thank you to the grow community for the positive feedback. I appreciate the advice and knowledge I’ve gotten along the way and I think it’ll help me get my girls to an even higher level with the next one! I’ll be dropping more seeds this week and will continue to add grow diaries as I go.

Ready to harvest? Not something I usually struggle with but breeder suggests 9-10 weeks flower and I’m just coming to the end of week 8. I upgraded my light recently and it advertises reducing flower time but this seems extreme. Thoughts? Pics are a few days old as well.

If the advertised wattage is correct of 660 watts draw and depending on the footprint that is a lot of umol. And I don't know with all the different opinions of when and how much Amber you should have.. It's really tough to say if it's ready for you.. If it's all cloudy with very little to light amber.. Then I'd say your ready and I'd chop. But some seem to prefer the amber... Amber does not make for potency and the more amber the cough.. In my opinion. But it's totally a preference so I will leave it at that.

I'm trying remo next round.. seems like a solid company and I don't mind running two different nutrient lines. Good work.. But looks a bit nitro saturated and might be a bit rough or harsh. Flushing changes nothing because of senescence and translocation. Ask me more if you like. or I can remove if you don't appreciate the input but I know my Cannabis :).

@DeadwebsiteBoringcommunity, thanks for the advice and sharing some of the knowledge you’ve gained. I think I’ll try flushing for at least 3 weeks on my next grow and see If I can get some more senescence taking place at the end of the grow. Thanks again dude!

@Heeve, Yes sir the yellowing is a good thing.. And I am not saying my craft is perfect or refined.. But I am definitely surprised as too how little food I have used for certain phases and the reactions that happen are quite different then you'd expect. Transpiration is a part of what plants do.. So the intake of just plain old water goes a long way.. And keep in mind Cannabis happens to use 99% of the water in intakes for transpiration the other 1% plus the presence of n-p-k and certain micro nutrients is what the plants uses for life functions and to grow. So as your plant gets bigger it's Transpiration needs should increase dramatically.. But the nutrient requirements do not increase at a proportional level. During certain high growth phases the presence of npk and micro nutrients is essential for growth.. But plants slow down growth.. And Senescence is a part of life function. So I am strongly leaning towards stopping feeding in the 4th or 5th week of flower.. Either stopping or cutting it too 300 ppm. This is only my opinions and ideas. it may negatively effect your final yield.. But I am aiming for ultra smooth ultra potent :).

@DeadwebsiteBoringcommunity, I’ve noticed in previous grows (7 or 8 total now) a lack of yellowing, which I was expecting with the research I’ve done. Is the idea to reduce nitrogen earlier in flower and drop nutes later in flower to force more uptake from the rest of the plant? As opposed to flushing? I’ve been happy with the quality and yields I’ve been getting (5-6 ounces/plant) but anything to further increase quality and yield I’m in interested in trying.

I am thinking of doing this strain next after my runtz finish, have you run mimosa before? What’s your opinions on it? Nice looking grow pal👍

Heevecommented4 years ago
@Esoteric_growing, first grow was 9 weeks to finish. I’m happy with the flavour and smell, lots of citrus came out during cure. I’d recommend this one, if sativas are your thing.

@Heeve, thanks for the reply👍 Can I ask how long it took to finish and what’s your thoughts on the flavour? I see many people bash barneys genetics but I have had wonderful bud from their blue cheese, pineapple chunk and LSD. And I am very fussy lol

Heevecommented4 years ago
@Esoteric_growing, this is my 2nd grow with mimosa. Easy grow and very resistant. Solid sativa, love the high from this one. Good yields too. First grow I did LST with one and topping with LST for the other. Definitely liked the topping and pretty heavy nutes. This grow I topped both. Thanks dude!

Right that’s does it I am ordering these tomorrow! I thought a couple of weeks ago they were going to be big but it surpassed my expectations buddy. That’s going to be a real top shelf product and lots of it👍 Can I ask how much they stretched in flower? Did they double in height?
Heeve
Heevecommented4 years ago
@Esoteric_growing, thanks dude, I’m hoping it’ll be a nice one. Think I’m gunna cobble together some pics and do a journal for my last mimosa grow so I can compare the two. The last one was fire and I’m hoping this one will be even better. They stretched approximately 150% in flower, a bit more then doubled. Should have that other journal done soon, take a peek if you want to see what the finished bud looked like

Nice grow you got going on there man! I'm also growing this strain and it's my first ever grow and she's also on week 6 of flower now (my diary is on here), but my buds are nowhere near the size of yours! Why could this be, did I do something wrong? Or was it just this pheno perhaps? Anyways good luck and happy growing!
Heeve
Heevecommented4 years ago
@WeedMan2020, thanks man! Yours is looking good too! From my experience light is the biggest factor in increasing bud size. I upgraded my flowering light a few grows ago and it made a massive difference. You can add bat guano or something similar during flower (around week 2). In my tests the buds bulked up a bit.
