Germination

Recently I started a diary for two RQS NL auto seeds, they sadly didn't germinate (due to my own fault, no bad feelings towards RQS). So I'm starting two new seeds! So I guess this could still qualify as my "first indoor grow", since I didn't get a chance to finish my first try :p. Again I'm using Plagron AllMix in two 22l (6 gallon) root pouches! We're growing Dutch Passion Auto Critical Orange Punch and to be honest I selected the strain because of the high yield and high THC. We're growing the winter stash here after all 😀. One of the challenges I'm facing this grow is trying to grow two of these plants under a 150W LED light. I will have to properly train these plants in order to make the most of the 150W I have available. I have a SCROG net available and am not sure if I should use it right away, if I need it I will definitely consider it. I have experience with low stress training with my lest outdoor grow and am excited to try it out indoors where it's much more important. -23 October 2020- I used the wet paper method and as of this morning both seeds had tap roots, total germinating time was two days. Planted both seeds a few millimeters deep and gave them a little water. The soil has been fully saturated with water like two weeks ago and it's still a bit moist. Picture added is the grow setup without seeds planted, will most likely post another picture this week when they sprout (if they do of course :p). -25 October 2020- Both seeds have sprouted! I am extremely happy with that. I will try to mark plant #1 and #2 throughout this diary. For now the one on the left with be plant #1. Can't wait until like 2-3 weeks when they will have exploded (hopefully). Will probably update once more this week to show if the seedlings came out okay! Oh yea, the Mars Hydro was turned on to 25% @70CM (2 feet). Peace. -27 October 2020- Plant #1 flopped over overnight, really puzzled what happened because the humidity isn't too high for damping off to happen so idk. Maybe I'll have to germinate ANOTHER seed lol, That would bring the tally of seeds murdered to 3. Idk plant #2 looks fine to me but I'm kinda pissed off about this one so I'll stop writing for now. -29 October 2020- Plant #1 is officially dead, tried to prop it up but it really didn't wanna live. So I am germinating my backup seed to plant, probably will incorporate that into this diary. Next week will be first veg week so stay tuned for that!

-3 November 2020- So germinated a backup seed (same strain). She is gonna be one week behind so let's see if we can train the plants in a way that one won't be too far ahead. Plant #2 seems to be doing very well so far, maybe this week I will give her a little bit of Power Roots (Plagron root stimulant) but apart from that I've been giving them like half a shot glass of tap water when the soil is dry. Also bought a new spray bottle which I use to mist the new seedling. Gonna have to see when it will be a good idea to give her some serious water instead of just not letting the roots dry. Anyways this organic soil is going to be pretty much cruise control for the first few weeks, no nutrients are going to be necessary. The AllMix is supposed to last about 6 weeks (depending on strain and use case) so we're probably good for at least a month. I will have to stop being lazy and start pH'ing my water. -6 November 2020- Three days later and like you can see in the picture plant #2 is doing it's thing and plant #1 is slowly developing it's first set of leaves. I have them a little bit of water yesterday with plagron power roots, supposed to help the development of the roots in the early stage, apart from that I'm not going to give anything else the coming weeks. Also pH'd the water this time at 6.3-6.5 so hopefully that will help them out a bit. Humidity dropped during this week so also trying to raise humidity by spraying tent walls and adding water to the bottom of the trays lol.

-10 November 2020- Been really happy with the growth we got here from Plant #2, seems to be a solid plant and looks really healthy. Plant #1 came out a bit weird since the start and it seems to be growing, just the leaf colour is weird and I will have to keep checking it. I can't really do much more than just check pH of input water and hope for the best. Gonna have to think about when to start LST for plant #2, but I want to see maybe 2 more nodes before I start with that. Mars Hydro TS1000 has been lowered to 50CM because I wanted to decrease the internodal spacing of plant #2. Also gently increased the intensity to 75% hope they don't get light burn :p. As for nutrients I have only added Power Roots, they seem to respond well to it so going to just keep following the schedule from the Plagron website. -14 November 2020- Little update. One day after upping the light strength I noticed the leaves "cupping up" and some slight bleaching, which could be indicators of early light burn. So I Decreased the light intensity back to 50% and am slowly increasing it. Like listed this is my first ever indoor so I am kinda trying to find out how much light I need at every stage. Plant #1 actually started taking off (check the pic) so I'm happy about that. Plant #1 fell over when I applied a little bit of water with a spray bottle and I was worried I might have killed it, but it seems to not care too much and the only result is that it's a bit crooked now lol. I gave them another watering and just gave them 1.5 liters in total. Going to wait until they dry up completely until I water again.

-18 November 2020- All is going great, plant #2 is just cruising through this and I think I'm starting LST soon on it. Plant #1 is much more compact due the higher light intensity it got, but I think it's getting there. Just hope I can get them on approximately the same level. The Mars Hydro is very slowly being increased to 75% power. Right now it's 60% power @45CM. Don't have much more to say right now, will probably update this if I decide to LST later this week. Coming Sunday Plant #2 is going to be 4 weeks old. -21 November 2020- Just wanted to update because I LST'd. I saw a lot of the lower shoots of Plant #2 were coming up really well and I wanted to start getting them at similar height. Decreasing the light power did seem to help Plant #1 and the new growth looks healthy. Definitely going to wait with LST'ing Plant #1 until at least another week.

-24 November 2020- Last week I started LST on Plant #2 and in terms of structure I am happy with the result. All the shoots are almost on the same level and I will try to keep it like that. Plant #1 is almost ready for LST I think. It's a much more compact plant than the other one, but I think it will be fine. I have a problem tho: Plant #2 is showing some really nasty problems as you can see in the pics. The newer growth is twisted and yellowish. I will open a grow question for this. I haven't added any nutrients apart from the root stimulant (Power Roots) and I used pH- to get my water down to pH 6.5 (might've fed her 6.3 last week too). Yesterday the soil was bone-dry and I gave them both a nice watering with Power Roots. Now I will wait until dry again obviously to avoid overwatering. Hopefully a more stable pH and some more water will help Plant #2 right itself. It looks like something that could really reduce yields in the future because this is an autoflower. By the way at first I thought maybe light burn, so I slightly raised the lamp, but I already asked around a little bit and it's probably not light burn so I will probably correct that during the week.

My Plant #2 (refering to the pictures) is showing some nasty twisted-like growth and unhealthy colors. I think it might be a pH problem, because I have been adjusting pH to 6.5 with organic nutrients and maybe I have been killing the microbes. Thanks for having a look.

Unless this continues throughout the next two sets of leaves, I wouldn't worry about it, Cannabis plants can grow some odd and weird leaves at times, more so autos I have found. Your plant should be ok and keep growing normally. You would have to do something really, really drastic to kill the soil microbial life. 6.5 wouldn't bother them at all. Think 3 or 9 on the ph scale before any irreversible damage is done. Hope this helps.... Organoman.

To diagnose you need to check your runoff water for ph and ec levels. Adjust these according to your grow method. For veg your ph needs to be 6.2 to 6.5 ec should be around 1.8ec, 900 ppm to 2.0ec 1000 ppm. Cheers

-1 December 2020- Hey and welcome to my past time hobby for the last month and a half. The lamp is finally on 100% @45CM and the growth is definitely fast. Also the drinking rate of the Plant #2 is creeping up on me, I didn't expect her to drink so fast already so I upped the amount of water she gets. Also the training has been continued and as you can see that part is going really well! Plant #2 has some red tinting on the new growth and I have no idea what it is again, might be genetics or pH. I also asked Plagron about the problem I was having and they advised me to stop using pH regulators so I'm going to try that out for a bit. My tap water miraculously changed to 7.0-7.1 so I might be able to get by. Also gave her some LST and picked out one fan leaf that was blocking a lot of bud sites. I also decided to train Plant #1 down just now so we'll see how she fares coming week. Plant #1 looks pretty much picture perfect right now and I hope she doesn't have the same problems as Plant #2. Oh and I also almost snapped the main branch on Plant #2 while training, she didn't give a single fuck so hooray! EDIT LATE AT NIGHT: So I just went to check on my plants and it's almost lights out. I just found a bunch of white pistils on Plant #2 so that means we're starting the flowering phase! Will probably try to document the stretch over this week. -4 December 2020- Just a mid-week update. Plant #2 is doing her stretch. 1 day after I noticed on Plant #2 I also noticed white pistils on Plant #1 which means she also started flowering! Which means stuff is gonna be a bit simpler than having an auto in flower and veg at the same time. Only thing I have been doing is touch up on the LST, tucking leaves and I picked off a few leaves here and there that were blocking bud sites. I also took a tiny ass branch off the bottom Plant #2. I was on the fence if I should lollipop, but I'll be a bit safer this first indoor grow. They are still drying out from their last feed, Plant #2 probably needs a watering coming weekend or Monday. Plant #1 is still really heavy so probably doesn't need a lot. Plant #1 does show some explosive growth right now so that all could change. Can't wait to show you week 1 of flowering coming Tuesday and the week after that. The smell has definitely increased, I already noticed the smell last week and that was probably telling me they would flower soon. Anyways have a great weekend and see you next week.

-8 December 2020- The ladies have both gone into flowering. Yesterday they both got a 2 liter solution of Alga Bloom and Power Roots (very light on the nutes still). There is some minor stretching going on, every so often I have to pull a branch down on the big plant (Plant #2). Aside from the LST the only training I will do is pick out the occasional fan leaf that is blocking a bud site. It's pretty crazy that when you pick out one of those leaves the little bud sites that were under it just shoot up. That tells me what I'm doing is working exactly as I planned. Plant #1 only has it's main branch trained right now and seems to be fine like that for now, maybe I will need to train the other branches a little bit in the coming week. Whatever the pH issue was, I fixed it by going to pH 7.0. I might have been feeding too low pH before that so we'll see. Have a great week!

-15 December 2020- Wow! The stretch is real, as you can see Plant #2 grew 10CM last week. Plant #1 is also not too far behind. I'm trying to get them on a similar level, but Plant #2 is stretching so hard that it's difficult. Also you can see a pretty bad deficiency on plant #2 and Plant #1 also has the same problem. Next feed I'm gonna up the nutes probably so hopefully that will help. Probably gonna update once more later in the week, I don't have a lot of time now.

-22 December 2020- Last week they had a good feeding with the Alga Bloom and plant #1 probably loved it (and the fact that I put her on a riser and now she's almost level with Plant #2), she stretched pretty hard over the weekend. Plant #2 is still battling the deficiencies she has. It seems to have stopped, but we're not there yet. Pistils are exploding everywhere so that means she at least is gonna make big buds 😬. I added some CalMag to their feed to battle the calcium deficiency they seem to have. Also the usual like touching up on some LST and VERY occasionally picking out a leaf that's blocking a lot of bud sites. I am extra careful with Plant #2 because she's deficient and probably isn't gonna like a whole lot of defoliation. Seeya next time, hope I can show some crystals soon.

-3 January 2021- Happy new year everyone! As you can see a lot happened lol. The plants look like absolute shit in terms of leaves. Plant #2 has some nice budding going on, Plant #1 seems to be a little bit slower, bud development actually looks okay too. The problem is not completely clear, I have consulted a lot of friends that are more experienced than me and I get a lot of different ideas. I did check runoff pH again and I think I had 7.2 pH out when feeding with 6.4. So it was clear to me I had to flush with a lower pH solution. So that's what I did yesterday to Plant #1, I will probably do it to plant #2 as well when it's dry. I wanna maximize my yield and I hope I can push a little extra out of them in last few weeks. I'm already happy with the bud production, but clearly the situation can be even better. I also became a bit rougher with defoliation, because there were a lot of leaves dying off and I saw some that were blocking a lot of light in. I also started feeding with Green Sensation (my top booster). It should also help with certain deficiencies especially in K. Have a great night. Oh I should mention I skipped my usual Tuesday update and this can be considered the end of week 9, we're going into week 10 now.

It looks like a Calmag deficiency. I would add some with your next feeding. 1tsp/gal and the problem should stop. The rust spots on the leafs won't go away but shouldn't spread or get worsem

-11 January 2021- I'm writing this on the 11th, but the pictures are from 2 days ago or so (which again can be considered the end of week 10). I have been slacking doing the Growdiary updates, sorry. I'm gonna keep this one short again and try to do a proper update tomorrow with nice pictures haha. Only things that changed is that both plants have been flushed and are receiving full nutes now. Also I increased the light height a tiny bit, because I thought they might like to have a break from the intense light to get their deficiencies under control. Apart from that the dying of the plants seems to have stopped, so we're going into the last few weeks of this grow!

But it was necessary because I slacked earlier and was behind with the posts all the time. The smell is amazing, it's just a matter of lettim them become big and ver occasionally strip some leaves that are fucked. Still catching up with the underfeeding that I have been doing. They are getting a little over a full dose every watering. Hope you guys like it and just a couple of weeks left I can't wait!

-28 of January 2021- This is more of a last week update. I am feeding every 3-4 days. I'm just riding it out, I also again raised the lamp to 45CM. This shit smells like straight up orange juice. Will start to check trichomes every few days, they're still really clear so will prolly be some weeks. I'm super excited to chop this! Altho they kinda look like shit, the buds look fantastic and the smell is interesting to say the least so let's go the next few weeks!

- 8 February 2021- Lol I'm sorry, but writing every week about the plants is not my thing lol, we're close and I fed them plain pH'd water for the first time. I'm pretty sure it's about the right time to stop feeding nutrients, they are showing all kinds of weird problems on the leaves so it's probably just time to stop giving it anything lol. Maybe another update next week, maybe the harvest update is next. There's not a lot happening anymore except just checking out trichomes (which are still mostly clear, but they are clouding up slowly) so I might just post pics until we're done. Have a good one!

Lol I really didn't feel like updating this, but we're almost done. I am harvesting next week most likely. TBH this strain is taking a bit too long for an auto so I was kinda annoyed. I am just posting to show you some of the pictures. This should be considered to be week 15-18. I have been feeding plain pH'd water with a little bit of epsom salt. There's a lot of frost and purple colours coming in! Didn't expect those. So anyways enjoy the pics and next post is going to be harvest etc. Oh and next grow is gonna be Royal Gorilla and White Widow by RQS!
