Got an old clone of an clone of an clone, back from a friend, who got a nice phenotype from me about 9-10 years ago, so started up cutting clones from the somewhat mistreated motherplant.
Rooted quite quickly, but i do "cheat" a bit, soaking the jiffy´s in water added some clonex and dipping the cuttings in BPS Root Explosion.
These cuts are a bit smaller than i normally like to do, but as im unsure if the "old mom" gets netter, i had to take as many as possible, in hope to get just some surviving.
After transplant a week ago, i got some left over clones and decided to grow this batch in small pots and make a sort of SOG.
So instead of growing 18 of them in 12L pots, i went for 6.5L and 32 plants, 16 pr lamp opposed to the planned 9.
The half have had a week in vegging and the rest was just rooted in jiffies and transplanted same time as the rest, so only a few days vegging for them.
Past week has been good for the OG´s.
Half the plants were getting 1 week veg, and the rest just potted and 2-3 days veg and then started flowering.
The took to flowering very well, did pk boost them in week 1 to get them going and it seem that there is not much difference in size between the 2 ways of doing it.
Day 19 and did some defoliation and a few tops got bend, but not much maitenance on the OG´s.
Got an Lumatek Zeus 600W Pro 2 days ago, to test, so replaced 1 of the 600w hps with the cool LumaLed. Freaking awsome coverage.
It wont be an 100% accurate test, as i did the first 17 days with hps, but i will get an okay view on the difference anyway.
16 of the plants had vegged for 10 days, 16 for 3 days, before going to flowering, so to also get a yield idea, i have placed 8 from each group under the led, and the same under a 600w hps.
Getting sticky, citrus smelling fingers from defoliating. Even here in late week 3. HSO´s OG Kush never lets me down. I love that plant and looking forward to fresh supplies juust on the other side of new years. 😀
Not much to do with these SoG-style grows.
But starting to notice the different progression in the plants under led vs hps.
The ones under led is still gaining height and width and still fattening the buds, where as hps ones are fatting up too, not quite as much, but still, but they have almost stunted in growth. not much stretching.
This is one of the faster flowering pheno types from HSO, so its fattening up pretty well.
The half of them under the LumaLed is noticable bigger, both hight and budsize, than the rest below 600W hps.
this particular phenotype of the HSO - OG Kush is maturing really fast.
At day 35 i did some defoliation, but as kush-typic, there was not a lot of abundant foliage.
After defoil, i can see clearly that i could have gone with 25 pots and not just the 16. Oh well, lesson learned and life goes on.
And furthermore, the plants under the Lumatek Zeus LED, is definately both higher, bulky´er and looking amazing.
Will for sure replace the remaining 3 hps with Lumatek Zeus´s.
3-4 weeks to harvest, so im increasing supplement of especially amino + fulvic + humic acids the next 2 weeks. Go Terps. 👌
If i were only allowed to only grow 1 strain for the rest of my life, it would, without a doubt in my mind or hesitation in my heart, be OG Kush from HSO.
Trying my best to get around different strains and evolve my taste, but for more than 10 years i seem to be having a not so secret crush on OG Kush, so i do at least 1 grow a year, to be sure to have for the next.
Have had 2-3 phenotypes during the years, but iirc and i might not be, as im a smoker, but it seems that its the same through out the years.
1 is growing in to become yellow/orange, over reddish and purple, nice pine terps and hints of fried onions when grinding it. Awsome producer.
The second is less yielding, but covered in diamonds from top to toe. Great oil producer. ( 22-23% BHO yield, after destilling and purifying 18% BHO yield in a strenght of 70% thc and 4% cdb. ( lab tested )
Can be a heavy hitter for regular smokers and really kicks the llamas arse.
Nothing but love for the OG Kush.
Had 2 phenos this time around. Both good, so i am heppy with some of each.
#1 is a awsome yielder, in late flower, going from orangy yellow to blackish purple and nice terps like pine and fried onions. THIS pheno is my favourite. ( guessing its the chemdawg genetics dominating ) ( tested to be 25.8% thc by local police. Dont ask me why ) 😎.
#2 is green from start to finish, no other coulering, besides yellowing of dying leafs. Good yields, but not as great as #1. Extremely resin covered from top to toe. Heavy smoke.
#2 i do HBO oil on. It yields 22-23% raw oil, after winterizing and further destillation it ends at 70% thc and 4% cbd, reducing the overall yields to 18% +/-
Pheno 1 is easy harvesting. Fan leaves snap off easy, not many of them. Nice sized colas, even the lowest placed buds are more like golfballs than popcorn. Not a lot of trim on these ones, for budder and oils, but great for growers J´s.
Pheno 2 is slightly more annoying to harvest, as the fan leaves and larger ones, has a sort of stringy attachment to the plant, so it rips a long thread of each time a leaf is removed. Time consuming.
But its an awsome pheno for oils and budder, as its resinrich like i dunno what, so can slack a bit more trimming these ones.
In general an easy strain to grow, for beginners and above, a bit on the hungry side in vegging, but rewards for the extra Nitrogen later in flower.
No doubt i will do another OG Kush grow with in a year.
@Ferenc, Thanks a bunch. Its been a while since i last enjoyed a good grown OG, so when "my" pheno" returned, i was ever so happy. Now just for the awfull wait, but lovely growtime :-)

@DoDrugs420, It sure was. Didnt last long enough though, so am about to finish the second OG grow of the year. 😏
Was lucky to find a pack of HSO - OG Kush, so here we go again. LOVING that strain.
