14 days, looking good. Once I figured out my light wasn't close enough I dropped it down to 14 inches running at 60% a couple days ago. They really started spreading out. The VIPARSPECTRA XS1500 is an amazing light, runs real cool with the setting at 60%. Did the hand test and gets next to nothing as far as heat goes. 552.31 ppfd if the Lux converter is telling me the right stuff. The one with the wider leaves is the one that germinated faster than the other, popped out of the medium within 24 hours. The other one waited a little bit longer. Watered today, 4oz per plant, same as 3 days ago, the medium is dry because the medium Im using is pretty hot outside the light mix area. It drinks it right down when I do water, the light mix medium seems to hold the water well around the base of the plant, still keeping up the humidity in the room to help with that. So far really happy overall with the results. Learning a lot as I go, hope to have it finish looking pretty.

Grow Questions

The breeder (AutoSeeds) says they work better if you don't LST to much and focus on the main cola. Should I select a few of the large leaves and defoliate them to get more light in the middle. Just don't want to pick the wrong ones. Hope I have enough images to help you help me.

I wouldn't defoliat just yet, maybe some lst, tucking or I've seen people tie the big fan leaves together for a few hours a day to get light to lower growth. I've been defoliating like crazy (too much probably :) In the future I will do 2 big defoliations 1 beginning of flowering and another about 3 weeks into flowering. Remove the odd big leave here and there if blocking lights. I've grow from this breeder and started training I've of the plants very early age from it will. Doing a great job so far. Happy growing

I see clawing occur in one of your pictures (growdiaries.com/diaries/84476-auto-seeds-polar-express-grow-journal-by-ptrain which is a sign of Nitrogen overdose. I would check the balance with a nutrient ppm meter and flush the plants with Canna Flush .

Can you confirm this is a potassium deficiency? This happened after a flush of an amended soil (SoHum), please take into account before you answer. I do have some Down to Earth Organic White Azomite Powder OTW, just not sure how much to add yet.

Why did you flush if you don’t mind me asking? You shouldn’t have to flush an organic soil unless you have some big problems. If you didn’t have any issues before flushing, you’re most likely gonna have them now as flushing washes away beneficial microbes in your soil. These microbes are what breaks down the amendments and turns them into a usable nutrient for the plant. Without them, your plant will start to suffer. Also, azomite is great. I use it when amending my soil and in compost teas. It won’t really treat a deficiency but it’s great for trace minerals and as a “house” for microbes. Since you flushed the soil, I’d let it dry out completely and then give a compost tea to get those microbe populations back up. Check out www.composttealab.com for info and recipes.
