So after my obectively moderately successful 1st grow (But extremely special personally) This right here is my hopefully improved second grow. The plan: 6 autos, (3 of one strain on this grow) Splashed out some more cash to get 3 gorilla cookies from Fastbuds. The one I grew in my first grow was the strongest plant and the best smoke by far... Bigger 20L fabric pots than my previous 9l plastic jobs which I think limited me last time. Decided to try organic for mostly flavour but also requires less tinkering. The thinking is this should help stop me tinkering and overworrying over every reading. Went with local uk Ecolife after much research so really hope they help produce delicious weed... Sticking with my hps as I’m not made of money and I know it works... I may upgrade to leds next time as I don’t want too many variables plus it’s winter ow so temps shouldn’t be as much of an issue. Anyway, All 6 seeds germinated successfully and seem to be on their way. Just being careful not to overwater and keep ph in the right place. Thanks for reading have a great week 😊

Second week done and all is going well. The girls growing fast and strong. They seem happy and healthy and just reaching up to the light. Much more vigorous at this point vs my 1st grow. V very happy with progress this far. Will LST towards the end of next week, and probably do the first compost tea as well. Did some little jobs around the tent on the weekend. Made up some drip trays and sorted the intake fan. One of the parts I like most about my new hobby... DIYing things that needn’t cost the earth. Also we held the Naming Ceremony yesterday, a modest affair this time given social distancing guidelines... But I present to you Miss Naomi Smalls, Miss Heidi N Closet and Miss Gigi Goode. Thanks for reading have a great week 😊

So geez they grew quick this week! Did my first ever lst on D20 as they we’re getting huge already. All bounced back within a few hours and I’ve since tied them back a bit more. Will see what difference it makes overall but was quite cool to do if a bit nerve racking. Nothing but ph water since they’ve been in. Brewing their (and my!) first compost tea right now which will go in as soon as soil dries. Noticed a few pistils poking out so will expect them to start stretching from now. They’re going so quick and looking happy and healthy. Very satisfied so far. Thanks for reading have a great week 😊

Hi, Is this normal..? Top leaves on each stem of this plant are staying upright until they’re quite large. Otherwise she and her sisters look super happy & healthy. Thanks

Thanks @organoman point taken. Tbf I haven’t taken loads off just the blockers. So it’s stressed or a pest problem? What insects could cause this? I’ve had some sticky paper up since start and had 2 tiny flies total. And I spray with neem every week. Anything else I should be doing? Thank you btw, appreciate the response

If it isn't insects, I would say it is stressed out due to too many leaves being removed. You do realise by removing healthy leaves you are causing your plant to slow its growth, due to its diminished capacity to produce energy via photosynthesis, right? Those beautiful big healthy fan leaves you removed, produced most of the energy required by your plant to grow properly. They also become "storage deposits" of vital elements needed by your plant during flowering. Leaves should only be removed once they have become yellow. During the time the leaves are are going yellow, your plant will "recycle" those vital elements (carbs, sugars, amino acids etc.) stored in the large fan leaves to use elsewhere, such as for flower growth. If the large fan leaves have been removed, the plant must use energy to "re-manufacture" the lost, previously stored, vital elements, denying this energy to be used for flower growth. Plants can not "channel" energy, energy is used everywhere throughout your plant. Removing healthy leaves reduces your plants capacity to thrive to the best of its ability. Each leaf is like a "solar panel" that produces the energy for your plant - less "solar panels" = less energy produced = less growth. Sorry for the downer, but I DO hope this helps... Organoman.

Grew crazy quick this week again, Just readjusted ties a few times and nipped off any leaves blocking budsites. Think they’ve reached the right sort of shape so plan is to let them stretch from here. Top dressed the girls yesterday as I think they may need some more juice as they start to stretch. Another weekly compost tea delivered this week, otherwise just watering when dry. Enjoying the dry amendment organic way I’ve gone this time. Just a ph test and off you go, no need for complicated measurements. And the plants just seem to be LOVING life right now. Happy days! Thanks for reading have a great week 😊

Another positive week under the belt... All 3 in the diary are still stretching (Naomi a crazy amount) and are far more developed than the other 3 despite germinating at the same time. Heidi is just a beast of a plant and she & Gigi are developing lots of trichomes already. All of the girls look happy and just praying to the light. Been following Bill ward on YouTube and have decided to train the girls in his style. So ‘cleaned up the bottom third, pruned all the little budsites that weren’t going to get anywhere and defoliatted just enough of the canopy to let more light & air in’. In the end a scary amount came off. But the girls didn’t seem to mind the least, just kept stretching and praying. Only slight issue is some yellow tips to a few of Naomi’s leaves. Putting it down to hottish soil and recent compost teas. Only ph’d water for the next little bit hoping this sorts it. So well chuffed with the second outing so far... here’s hoping I don’t do anything stoopid from here in! Thanks for reading, have a great week 😊

Plants all still going well this week but not without issue, Heidi Stopped stretching and is now a big ol unit. Loads of budsites which are the most developed already and getting bigger day by day. Absolutely covered in trichomes already, way more than any plant in previous grow. Naomi Slightly bigger than Heidi and also stopped stretching. Slightly less developed than Heidi but starting to put on some trichomes now. Slight nute burn on leaf tips I think due to an ill timed compost tea in wk4. Gigi Much smaller than her sisters and I think a strange phenotype. Almost all of her leaves are 3 fingers even the newest growth. She even has some 1 finger leaves quite high up on the plant. Very strange... But she is the frostiest in the tent by far... And also very very beautiful in my humble opinion, really looking forward to seeing how she turns out. So the issue, Despite the plants going great guns there has been a gradual increase in what I’m pretty sure are fungus gnats. So they’ve had daily applications of Neem oil solution on the surface of soil and watered from the trays to try disrupt the hatching. Also ordered that diac’.. earth which apparently slices them up until they die horribly - a thought which provides me some comfort. Update D44 So slight increase in f’ gnats. The problem seemed to be concentrated in the soil of one the ladies not included in this diary. That combined with it getting very cramped in the tent has forced me to a difficult decision. It is with a heavy heart I have removed Alexis Matteo from this grow. Alexis you will always be a superstar! Now... Sashay away. Thanks for reading, have a great week 😊

Hi, Worrying this might be something else other than some nute burn...? Only on some of the leaves of one of my 5 girls. Any opinions? Thank you

Looks like possibly some wind burned tips from being close to that fan. Or from rubbing on your tent sides? Or just some nutrient burn. I'd not worry about it much unless it's happening to new growth. 🤘😤

Another good week ticked off... No sign of fungus gnats since the daily neem oil and diac...’ earth. Seems to have done the trick but I stay vigilant! All the girls starting to fill out a bit. And getting covered in trichomes. Pics don’t do justice even the stems are covered. The other 2 plants in the grow stretched crazy and a bit later than these. Happily I think they’ve stopped. Nothing exciting planned from here other than a top dress later this week and just watering and an odd compost tea till the finish. Thanks for reading, have a great week 😊

Hi All, Noticed the odd leaf like this that looks like something has taken a bite of it. It is only the odd leaf. I had some fungus gnats a few weeks ago which are now gone. Is there something else doing this and do I need to act? Thanks

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like a little caterpillar has been feeding. Look at the underside of any leaves with those marks for caterpillars, or be on the lookout for any little black lumps on the leaf surfaces - caterpillar poo! Hope this helps,... Organoman.

Another mostly positive week completed. Pests firmly at bay. Environment humidity looking good and all the buds are getting bigger. Top dressed some nutrients / insect frass earlier in the week which I’m sure was a week or so late. - Heidi looking very hungry by D57 - the whole plant is looking yellow. Solution to problem is some organic liquid nutes which arrived today from now as needed. Overall they and the other 2 ladies in the tent are looking a zillion times better than my first grow. Starting to feel the harvest impatience kick in. Will try to overcome this time Thanks for reading have a great week 😊

So I finally ran out of weed from my 1st grow. After paying a ridiculous amount of money for an ounce of crappy street weed I decided to chop Heidi early. After all I’m not growing to win awards but to achieve total independence from wankstain kids showing up late to sell me crappy overpriced weed. So the plan is to have some smokeable weed in the nest week or 2 and give the other girls a few more weeks to finish properly. I also have 2 other plants not in this diary (strawberry pie auto Fastbuds) that are monsters and looking very very good but I think will need a couple more weeks than these. So will use the space in the tent to start my next seeds in the next week or 2 while the others finish. Plants themselves starting to look hungry this week - some yellowing from the bottom. I think the original dry amendments have run out so just using liquid organic nutes from here in. Plus a weekly compost tea. So not quite achieved total independence but should be from here on... Thanks for reading. Have a great week 😊

So harvested Gigi yesterday (D70) as she looked ready. And also very beautiful in my humble opinion. Covered in trichomes and very bright orange pistils pics don’t do justice. The buds are smallish but really hard / dense abs she stinks to high heaven. After a week of drying, Heidi is just about to start curing. (120g / 4 oz). Tbh we’re smoking her already as she’s already way better than current stash. Tastes absolutely delicious, I’m not one for describing pretentious flavours. She tastes dank and makes me properly stoned lol. Also only gonna get better now on the cure. Naomi is the final girl still going, plan to pull her on Sat/Sun D77 ish. She’s the biggest of the 3. Despite showing some signs of earlier nute burn she has powered through with the biggest and longest buds of all 3. Very excited about her. And finally the other 2 girls (not included in this diary) strawberry pie autos look a few weeks behind these but just going into beast mode both are 1.2m tall and getting loads of solid super stinky and frosty buds. In summary pretty fuckin fantastic start to the year. Happy Days. Thanks for reading. Have a great week.😊

So chopped Naomi on D76, and wow completely different gravy. Size of the buds are on a different scale and weigh loads just on the hangers. The top buds turned out absolutely stunning in my opinion. Beautiful pinks shades and craploads of trichomes. The smell when I chopped her was something else so stinky and dank. In retrospect if I left Heidi a few more weeks I think I might have got a similar result. So gonna finish the diary next week when I’ve got the final weights etc. In other news 2 more plants in the tent with 2 weeks to go. Both look to have similar potential to Naomi... Strawberry pie autos’ looking very frosty and al sorts of crazy colours. Also 5 new seeds popped up today ready to repot when my final 2 get harvested (4 gorilla cookies autos - LOVE this strain & lemon pie auto both Fastbuds) So another pretty spectacular week in the life of this humble household. Thanks for reading, have a great week 😊
