Bluemels I received the seeds today, this will be my 2nd attempt at growing Royal Highness. The seeds are incredibly tiny again. I wonder if that’s normal or if the seeds are already old, rq has been putting this strain down for ages. I think I will use the Sea of Green method. 3/8 were visible after 3 days, by the 4th day all were visible, 5/8 were big enough to pot up. By the 5th day, all the seedlings were visible. I potted up a total of 6, I will grow a maximum of 3 until the end.

Bluemels On day 14, I decided on the last 3 plants. All the plants are stretching very differently. It was really hard to choose 3 that were as uniform as possible 😕 On day 20, I topped 2/3 at 4 nodes, and all the plants have already formed nice side branches. Overall, all 3 plants are very delicate. The leaves are soft and can be easily damaged. On day 21, I topped the 3rd plant at 4 nodes.

Bluemels The Royal Highnesses responded well to the topping. On day 25, the side branches were already so long that I could remove all the sun leaves from under the branches. On day 26, I repotted the 3.

Bluemels On day 30, I defoliated the 3 plants and removed the lowest shoots. They had already developed plenty of side branching, and with 2 plants, even 2 arms split. So it was high time to defoliate them. Now, hopefully, they will grow taller again, as that had slowed down a bit. And I noticed that they feel most comfortable at 25°C daytime temperature; I had raised the temperature to 26°C for a few days, but that immediately led to burnt leaf tips. On day 32, I bent the weakest shoots of the 3 plants upwards with plant wire and set up the net to bend the shoots more into their desired shape. On day 35, I removed a few lower shoots and sun leaves again, as they were exposed due to the bending and are developing into new branches. Still no pre-flowering 🤔

Bluemels What a tedious grow 😒 The 3 are growing steadily but very slowly. Still no pre-flower on day 36. I've also been bending and trimming the plants quite a bit 🤐 so that will surely weaken them a bit and slow down their development, at least that's what I think 🤔. Finally, on day 39, the first plant shows a tiny pre-flower 😀

Bluemels By day 43, all three have shown a tiny pre-flower. I regularly trim excess shoots and leaves to gradually create an even picture, a sea of green indeed 😉 On day 45, the Alg a mic shows its effect; the leaves have quickly turned lush green again.

Bluemels I left the Royal Highness in the growth phase longer than I thought. But the plants are quite sensitive and only recover slowly from various interventions. In 3 days, I'll finally send the 3 into flowering; I hope they don't develop too many branches over time. My grow box is now somewhat filled with shoots.

Bluemels For 4 days now, my 3 ladies are finally in bloom. Just after 2 days, they really stretched out. Unfortunately, they are still forming numerous side branches, and I was close to cutting them off, but I'm afraid they might turn hermaphrodite. The only thing I'm considering now is defoliation to not jeopardize the quality of the harvest. I'd rather accept a lower yield 👌

Bluemels The 3 ladies have stretched enormously, much more than I expected 😱 I only have 15 cm left to raise the lamp, then it’s going to get tight 😨 This is my first grow with 3 feminized in a 60x60 box. 😬 On day 65, I wanted to raise the lamp, but I couldn't use the pulley anymore and had to/wanted to tie the lamp down, until everything slipped from my hands and fell on the plants 😭 Numerous branches broke off and couldn't be saved. Overall, I installed 3 support nets to give the remaining branches some support. I hope the plants don't hermie from the enormous stress 😵

Bluemels I'm still in shock along with the plants from the unwanted high stress 😴 Unfortunately, the growth phase was almost over by this point. It hit the strongest plant, which has now become the smallest and weakest one 😢 I can't raise my lamp any higher; this time I had to get help to raise it one last time. I was close to giving up on this grow, but then my ambition kicked in again. This grow has already been very time and energy-consuming. My biggest fear, though, is unnoticed hermaphroditism and then everything being full of seeds 😱 On day 75, I had to defoliate the lower area, which was just full of little fluff and the first leaves were already very light.

Bluemels The 3 girls are slowly starting to smell, the resin gland production is in full swing. I now have to pay close attention to the temperature, as the lamp can't go any higher and otherwise there will be burns. The tips still look good, but I've experienced this kind of bleaching towards the end of flowering more than once. So far, this is probably my most elaborate grow; keeping the temperature and humidity constant is currently extremely difficult due to the changeable weather here. Since I'm also growing the Cookie Gelato in the same room, it naturally needs a bit more moisture and warmth during its growth phase. Yeah, it was a dumb idea to grow 2 crops with such different conditions at the same time 😏 But oddly enough, I've always managed, well almost always, to create the ideal growing conditions for each grow in the same room, with aluminum ventilation hoses 😎

Bluemels Even though it's not always easy to keep conditions as optimal as possible, I've learned a lot from this grow. 3 plants are just too much for my small grow box; I can hardly fit the equipment in. Watering is also very tedious 😞 I've fought for every centimeter and tinkered to get the lamp as high as possible. Now about the plants: they are steadily developing, but still visibly, and no fungus gnats yet 😇 Defoliating hasn't apparently harmed the plants; instead, better airflow is coming through, and all the energy is going upwards.

Bluemels This week was exhausting, the humidity has dropped significantly, so I'm glad I set up a humidifier just in time. But I always have to take everything apart to water 😑 The plants' stems are quite thin and are already bending a lot. I'm trying to create more stability by pushing the net up. The buds look really good despite everything, and they smell very sweet, full of resin glands 😍

Bluemels The last 2 weeks are now running. I'm only watering the 3 with water. I'm trying to lower the humidity and temperature. The buds are covered everywhere with resin glands. They smell somehow appetizing 😋

Bluemels Now it's almost done and a bumpy grow is heading towards harvest. In 3 days I plan to harvest. Fortunately, the last few weeks haven't been so stressful for the girls, but definitely more for me 😜 Maintaining the temperature and humidity wasn't always easy. I spent a lot of time tinkering 😎 It was worth it! Meanwhile, the leaves are quite light and have shrunk significantly. The trichomes look milky to slightly brownish. They smell delicious 😋 like a spice.

Bluemels What a tiring grow. 😅 Not only keeping the temperature parameters was really demanding, but also all my clumsiness mistakes. 😬 I'm so happy now that the harvest is finished and in jars. Despite the light incident, no seeds were formed because it happened before the end of the stretch phase. I'm satisfied with 97g, I expected less. The buds are completely covered in resin. Despite drying for 2 weeks, the buds have remained elastic.

Ahh quite bitter with the lamp, which was certainly a strong shock not only for the plants 😨 ! Hope you recovered too. Had to put the lamp higher, too, and that was also a tight deal with the treasures right below. Also not good for the back 😅 . But I think that if not chirloped, the result will not suffer greatly from your “experimental training method” 🙏 More light for the survivors!

Wow, when all of this blooms, it’s going to look amazing😳 Maybe you should consider harvesting in two steps, or you could cut everything off at the bottom. I've experienced that our lamp doesn't have good penetration. You'll end up with very different ripeness levels, but what do I know :)

Looking really nice bro, very clean, I like it 👌 . We use almost same setup, I wonder about the difference in the results beside different strains. Also I would like to know how you turn on/off the different light options on the GC4 if u dont mind. 🙏 best wishes

Bluemels commented6y ago
@YuriBoyka, thank you very much for the kudos, btw i'm female :-) I use a hygrostat and a thermostat in combination with a humidifier to keep a constant level of humidity/temperature. On the GC4 there are 3 switches on the top. Each one for a different light option. Then i use a timer to regulate the day/night phases. Hope that helps ;-) Best regards
YuriBoyka
YuriBoyka commented6y ago
@Bluemels, Hey i didnt know, usually safe guess with "bro", sorry :) About the three switches on top, is each turned on in /Early/Vegging/Flowering ? I start with only grow, then add fullspectrum ,when plants are more developed (VEG2-3), and then add flower when in switch to 12/12. Are u doing the same?
Bluemels
Bluemels commented6y ago
@YuriBoyka, i turn on full spectrum when the plants are old enough. I use it earlier so that they will stretch to the outer borders where no light was before. So i can achieve a nice sea of green. Also i use 30cm distance from plants to light.
the end.
