Week 2 Vegetative - "Ruby" started off the week with 1 set of leaves and the cotyledons, but remember that these were triplets! You'll notice that the growth rate was seemingly slower that the twin plant (see other Diary), however that 3rd leaf at each set seems to be what set it back, so if anything if could accelerate past "Sam"!
The triplicates continued to the second set of leaves, as you can see. I started to introduce nutrients near the middle of the week the timing was right in the dry cycle. I'm always careful to avoid watering too close to the stem for safety. Throughout this grow, I'll be loosely following the foundation Nutrient Recipe found over on cocoforcannabis.com. With the plans to try this strain out in a coco medium eventually, I wanted to "bake in" this recipe from the birth of the plant to prepare the future clones for the switch.
Although "Ruby" remains the shorter of the two, and a whole node behind by the end of the week, it is also taking on some alternative characteristics that are desirable. Both the stalk and node structures are much more bulky than the other plant. This may lead to a really nice foundation in the flowering stage should it be a female.
Throughout the week I adjust the vents as usual to balance and mimic a bright sunny and humid spring day, followed by a cooler (still warm) more dry night cycle. By the end of the week, I had trust that the seedlings were strong enough to withstand the airflow/environment of the entire grow room, so I started to leave the dome off for 12 hour periods to harden them off.
"Sam" finished off the week with 2 bushy nodes, and 4 inches in height.
I am growing the same seeds from Irvine seed company. In week 2 right now will be posting diary soon. Could not find any info on their website, this is a mango cross with tangerine right?
