Began LST. I'm using a coated garden wire that I've cut to size. I make a couple of bends towards the bottom end of the wire, such that there are two 'notches' at 90 degrees to each other. This keeps the wire in place after being shoved down the side of the felt container.
Finishing up with the LST. The major apical has got away from me so I expect the plant to be a bit awkwardly shaped.
I've started some very minor and strategic defoliation. My objective is mostly just to reduce shadowing.
Finally we have some bloom action. I'm still not sure why the veg stage was prolonged, but no complaints.
I swapped from Jungle Juice Grow to JJ Bloom over a few days. I'll start AN Big Bud next week.
Coming along very nicely. There's going to be a lot of larf, which is fine with me because I'll make bubble hash out of it. The main buds are filling in and growing up like good little beanies.
Big changes this week! Well, maybe not that exciting. I changed the lighting from 24 to 21/3 just for fun. And most critically(?) I angled the lights - see photos. I figured the new position will increase penetration to the bulk of the plant, and I can avoid overcooking the two dominant apical buds. No complaints so far. I also discontinued the Advanced Nutrients Big Bud, as per the bottle! I'm still uncertain how long the bloom stage will take. Given that the veg was about two weeks longer than expected, I am curious to see if the flowering stage is shortened, normal, or prolonged.
This is the completion of the 5th week of bloom.
There is a veritable hive of activity. The more mature buds are happily gaining mass, and the little ones are gaining in strength. Still a few more weeks I'm sure.
You may notice that some of the fan leaf tips have browned. I think this was caused by feeding too close to lights out after I already fed earlier in the day. I've gone back to the once in the morning feed.
I'm sure some are saying, "Look at all that veg! That plant should have been stripped long ago". Well, we shall see we shall see we shall see. Remember, he who laughs last laughs laugh laughs. I mean, he laughs last laughs laughs. Or, laughing last laughs he laughs. I think you get the general idea.
Dropped the nutes a bit. Guess I should continue to lower the servings from now on.
She's noticeably bulkier than last week! Going to try a little weanie bud to see if she has any strength. . . . Yes! Can't say much for flavour because I dried my tester in the oven, but I got a very nice, clean but broad buzz from the little I smoked. One thing to note - next week begins week 15, 100 days. Dinafem claims a harvest at 75 days with this strain, and little Billie looks a ways off from maturity. What could the future hold?
Our friend, Diedaggawalm here (https://growdiaries.com/diaries/64292-dinafem-dinamex-autoflowering-grow-journal-by-diedaggawalm) has done an admirable job on his Dinamex: much more aggressive training than Billie, a little more light, and nice results. It will be interesting to compare yields.
Midweek I flushed 9 litres of 5.6pH water through the 5 gallon coco coir to clear out any excess salts. The plant retained about 2.75 litres. I'm going try a bit of dehydration before I start back on a lower nutrient feed.
Sorry for the delay, folks. Busy Binky!
Well, I decided the time had come to prepare for harvest. Went with a water diet for 3 days, and on the fourth day . . . the chopper.
Hanging in the tent, looking great.
Thought I'd try my hand at 'live' or 'raw' bubble hash using the frozen CO2 method. Worked well, great fun.
Drying for the rest of the week. ..........................................................................................................
Well I am ecstatic, delighted, and well pleased. The totals:
- 185g of excellent flower
- 3g of 'live' bubble hash
- 2.3g of killer bubble
- 1.2g of dangerous shatter
There you have it. Would I get more or less if I had heavily trimmed or lollipopped? You tell me!
Thanks for your friendly comments and attention to my grow.
