We're off, got her pretty little head above the ground today. Bit of an experiment this one, been a while since I've grown a photo plant. Going to train this one and see how long I can keep her in veg before up potting and moving to flower tent. Plenty of time for it all to go wrong, anyone not happy with seeing a tortured plant should move along now. 😂😂
This is the happy one in the tent. The other two have taught me valuable lessons about the soil mix I'm using, Cannabiogen Auto-Mix 2.0. It's a very hot mix, claiming to contain enough nutes for up to the first 5 weeks of grow, and it doesn't drain as well as I'm use to.
Armed with this knowledge, I'm hoping for a good week, she'll get a water in the next couple of days, concentrating on the outside of the pot.
Update: She's still the happy one. She got a small watering on Mon and a little more tonight, this one is in a small smart pot so is drying out nicely.
She's still alive, not gained much height but not bothered, she's a photo period so has all the time in the world.
Humidity has dropped over the last few days. I've put bowls of water in the tent to try and address the issue.
Update: The bowls of water worked, humidity up to 58%. She's still not looking very happy, I think the soil's a little hot for a seedling, but that's what we've got so she'll have to lump it 😀
I'm glad this one has all the time in the world, as there's something up in my tent. Nothing in there is growing with the vigour I'd expect. None of the obvious conditions are that far out of whack, yet everything seems to be stunted.
I'm going with my lights being too much for the young ones. I've used these lights before outside a tent with no problem, this is the first time in a tent. It's the biggest change.....so I've raised the lights to 30cm above, dropped the wattage from 30w to 16w, and changed to a 18hr light schedule. Here's hoping for a positive response 😊
My solution
So this little one is still crawling along.
I think she might be responding to the lower light levels, but not enough time's past yet to be sure.
Failing that it must be the soil, I've got some light mix on the way to try out going forward.
Stunted starts like this are not so much of a problem for photo's, but they're really screwing up my Auto's and need to stop 😂
Update: I think there are signs of recovery, full set of leaves forming 😀, not counting my chickens yet but fingers crossed
Update: Still heading in the right direction, and looking happy
Update: I think we can safely call this plant happy, at last. She's got her first set of leaves angled upwards, offering thanks and praise that the dumb arse that controls her environment, might be starting to
get his shit together. 😂
We appear to be over the lighting problem/issue.
Recovery is coming on, but it's a slow process, at least she has a set of leaves to power herself with now.
Might start getting some height over the coming 7 days, fingers crossed.😀
Well really not sure what's going on with this one.
The initial light overdose seems to have really screwed her up. I was expecting her to bounce back better than this.
My other two younger plants (super gold, mystery buddha) are doing fine in the same tent. All of them have been treated the same. The only difference is the younger ones were never exposed to my earlier light screw up.
This poor little one appears stunted, a little on the pale side, whilst showing tip burn.
Thankfully she's a photo period so she has all the time, let's see what the next 7 days bring.
Update: Gave her a very light feed on Monday, and she seems to have responded positively. Still short, and compact, but she's growing leaves. My assistant says she's doing fine 😃
Still nursing this one.
I think she's looking hungry, despite her tiny size. So I've mixed up a litre of nutes at about half strength and given her 260ml of it.
We'll see how she responds over the next couple of days. It's all a learning curve 😃
Update 7/1: Have moved her into my grow/flower tent. Should maybe have done that a while ago. Tent is sitting at 24c, let's hope she loves the move 😀
Hey all so I've been neglecting my plants and diary for the last couple of weeks. Alas RL stuff getting in the way, but lets get this up to date.
So this is the only photo period I have, and I'm not sure when/how I'm going to flower it yet. I started it knowing it would have time to recover from any teething troubles (unlike the Auto's), and to give me something to experiment with. Anyway it worked, she's ploughed her way through all my abuse, it's only taken 8 weeks to get to this stage. 😂😂
Fingers crossed I've got all the problems out of the way, so today I topped her, and thinned out all her lower growth. I think this will give me four limbs to train going forward, main-line style.
I've topped plants in the past, but I've never planned such drastic training before. Maybe I won't need to worry about flowering her 😂😂
Nine weeks already, WOW. I might have been forgiven for my early screw ups.
My only photo plant is taking training like a champ. I have broken one of her limbs 😒, but I'm not really worried. Getting her to harvest is going to miracle anyway with all the tent juggling that's going to be needed.
Today I moved her back into the seedling tent. She's now under a 30w light. The plan is to try and slow her down a bit, although I admit snapping of limbs is going to accomplish that too.
I need to keep her growing and training for the next 4-6 weeks. Then with any luck I'll be able to move my auto's out of the main tent to the garden for 12 hours. This will let me give this one the 12 hours darkness she'll be desperate for by then.
It's a long shot, and as I've said an experiment. Most important it's fun 😀
So this little one is my happiest plant 😀, lush and green.
The move to under the 30w LED was the right one. Her growth has slowed, but remains steady and really healthy. She isn't trying to out grow her feed, so shows no signs of deficiencies.
So in an effort to upset her, I've taken her remaining three tips (snapped the fourth off last week 😬). That should give me 6 tops, plus the 2 from her broken limb. The tips tasted delicious, they didn't got to waste 😋.
Update 8/2: I'm sure this one is loving the mistreatment. Having her tips chopped has hardly slowed her down, I've had to have another tie down session with her. She's got some company in the tent now
The experiment continues 😀
Well I managed to burn her a little with nutes, so she's just had water today. Having said that she's growing fine, I trimmed her a bit today and tied down further. I'm sure she'd explode if she got more light. I hoping I can hold her back for 2-4 weeks more, even if an even more drastic trim is needed 😀
16/2 Update: She's fighter her chains!! I can see myself giving her a drastic trim 😀
In an ideal world I'd flip this to flower. 😬
She's just got to wait, there may be another aggressive trim in her future.
For now I've tied her down as much as possible, and removed any browning, sick looking leaves.
She's running out of space
Well this poor thing is desperate to get some 12/12 lighting and get on with flowering.
It's not going to happen yet, others have got to finish in the flower tent first 😀.
I've given her quite a radical chop back, and thin out. Hoping this will stall her for a bit, while she recovers. It's a shame I don't have the space or facility to use the off cuts for clones.
When she's recovered from this I'll look at up potting her, for hopefully another stall. Then into flower tent when there's space.
I'm enjoying this plant sculpting lark. I'll be interested to see the results 😁
28/2: The chop back and training hasn't fazed her. 24hrs later and she's got everything back facing the light.
Another quick update from what I think I should start calling the waiting room.
I can see this girl needing another chop back before she gets to the flowering tent.
So today has been a big day for this long suffering girl, she's been moved into the big tent 😳.
I've cut away the cloth pot she's been living in for the last 13 weeks!! Moved her into a slightly bigger one. I've got hold of some BioBizz all mix, and back filled her new home with that. I figured she's been hungry long enough.
I trained her, thinned her a little, and squeezed her into the tent. I'm going to give her 7 days of 18hrs light to recover, and then flip to 12/12. She'll probably get another more radical thinning then, I'm a bit scared what she's going to do 😂, I'm running out of space 😵
Buddha's been moved to the outside of the tent, despite the smile he can't be happy.
Update 14/3: After 24hrs in the big tent, I've tied her down, she'll got under 12/12 in 6 days
15 weeks already, where does the time go.
This one's going to get her first dark period manana.
I've trained her down so she's low and flat. Topped a couple of her longest limbs again.
Next couple of weeks are going to be interesting 😁
23/3 She's responded fast to the change in light schedule, she must have been desperate for it 😀
Well she's responded to the change in light schedule alright. Stretching all over the place, I reckon she's got her roots into the fresh soil too.
She's looking happy, not sure how I'm going to control her. She's nice and flat at the moment, I can see her needing the whole tent to herself given time 😐
31/3 Well she really is off, she's going to need thinning out over the weekend
My word this thing has exploded over the last week. The centre of the plant was a matted mess of new growth.
She's had a really good thin out down there, at least the fan can blow through her now.
Nothings going to waste, everything removed is going into a smoothie mañana. 😁
Let's hope she doesn't get too stressed over it all.
So far so good with this girl, some how she's looking super healthy after all she's been through.
Breaking a branch off weeks ago while training has paid dividends, she's really grown into her corner in the tent.
She'll get more room when the AK-47 at the front moves out in a week.
The tent is packed, makes me grin when I get to open the door 😁
14/4: The AK-47 has moved out. I was worried about lack of airflow, with this one pushed up against the side of the tent. I think she looks like the silhouette of a bird (for a plant). Dobby disagrees as usual, but I suppose she's the expert in this department, and I've been vaping. 😁
She's growing green and healthy. I've put off giving her another thinning out until next week, she'll really need it by then.
I've just got to keep her happy now until she's ready, she'll be 6 months old by then. 😂
Update 20/4: Still doing great. She's drinking and eating loads without too much issue, yet. HAPPY 420 😝
Not going to bad, she's got some rusty spots on her older fan leaves. Not sure what's causing that, hope it doesn't progress too much further.
She's getting a strong fresh citrus piney smell to her 😁
This girl looks like she's finishing up, she's fading beautifully, and smells sickly sweet 😁
Her spot in the tent is already spoken for, so she'll be chopped at some point this week.
Looking forward to trying this one.
Looking good 🙏🏻
Best of luck on the grow and diary 🍁🍀❤️
Great choice definitely one i would like 👍🏻
Happy growing #420 ❤️
I predict some frosty nugs ❄️
