This week I noticed the plant take off pretty quick. The bright light of the AGLEX 2000W with COB. So far happy with the growth

Alright. So, this week started out great. The plant was looking nice and full and bushy. I thought maybe by the end of the week I would definitely flip. I was pushing the nutes hard, I think my highest PPM was at 1600 with no sign of nute burn. Then, I looked at the roots and was like, gee. They look a bit brownish. And started messing with them. The end of the week, I ended up pulling off a clump of roots! Facepalm.

I obsessed over wondering if I was getting root rot. Then, it dawned on me. I was pushing the nutes hard. And the floranova grow is this THICK blackish-brown nute. When I emptied out my res, it was apparent, I have too much nutes in and they are clumping and staining the roots. Because there leaves and plant is showing NO SIGN of root rot. Folks, let the plant tell you if there is anything wrong. Don’t go looking. I noticed less growth this week. Due to having a whole clump of roots ripped off, I’m guessing I stunted her growth a bit. Dummy. Lessons learned.

Holy moly, what a turbulent week! Initially, I wanted to give my plant 24 hr darkness when I flipped, so I turned on the lights on Wednesday. Power tripped in the room sometime 3 hours after turning lights on, plant gets another 25 hours of darkness. Thursday, stripped her of the excess fan leaves. First 24 hours of actual 12/12. Friday, break her back into the SCROG Net, made by the SCROG FREAK. She looked sad. Tuesday, 4 days later I can hardly bend her branches and her tops are standing up, with more on the way. Defoliating daily.

This week, my nerves started to ease after seeing more bud sites stretching and becoming strong tops themselves. By the end of the week I’m noticing the leaves are sticky and starting to get slightly sugary. There is a pleasant smell of weed as well. I’m pleased to see these coming along so early.

I don’t think I’m having any issues. What are some thoughts on defoliation? I know there is controversy. Personally, I’m defoliating more frequently and seeing great growth.

I wouldn't necessarily defoliate but I would recommend lollipoping her a little. I would take anything off the branches before the 3rd node on the branch.

The only way to divert energy is by removing new branching before they form so the for elswhere. Lolipoping isent going to do much. But if yiu lollipop withour removing any fanleaf then iy will.. oeople have lost the touch of screenof green over the years. I remember they used to creat at tich 1 feet of canopy of leaf and pop out any brache and new nide growth withing this and out a second net above that then level the canooy flip and atach the budding site so all the solar panel do there job. .. now people look at the conopy and onve they see it touch that it.. if you put a leaf above another leaf that leaf under still gets light the light dosent just hit a wall and then vanish or get sucked in by the leaf above... All the light within that 1 feet of canopy gets absorb.. if you want bigger tight nuggs you keeo every fanleaf you can and remove all useless buddinh site befire the form into unwanted branches. That why a lit of people remove sucker

I'm convinced the ladies need a good defoliation now and again. They love it and perk right up after a good defoliation . As long as your keeping some solar panels and not completely stripping it . They live a good de leaf. In my experience .

Week 3 is starting out really well. day 16 I got some buds forming. Getting fatter already. Quite impressed for my first hydro grow. Closed out week 3 on the 16th. Some real nice buds coming in and the leaves are getting quite frosty already. The smell coming in already with a citrusy undertone. I am running into an issue however. I have noticed on the lower leaves a few spots of powdery mildew. I really don’t know how as I’m running 45% humidity with three fans and an exhaust fan. I am cutting the leaves that I find these spots, very carefully to not disturb the spores.

Week 4 has gone very well in terms of bud and Kola growth. The smell getting stronger, want to chop off a bud and smoke it already but I’m only half way! I have continued to maintain 45% humidity and added a foliar spray from Optic Foliar. Still a few spots of PM that I’m still getting rid of. I think I may wipe some leaves with a damp papertowel when the lights come back on. I slacked a bit in the defoliation, keeping it to the larger fan leaves underneath that are blocking some of the airflow underneath the canopy.

I have introduced the optic foliar overgrown spray with Elium to increase nutrient uptake and also to combat Powdery mildew that I have noticed on some fans. I am wondering if my grow setup was previously contaminated or if I transferred it from my other tent. None of the less, it has been manageable to this point and I remain diligent on cutting it out. The kolas are still firming up with buds tightening. Everyday I’m noticing the plants getting more and more frosty with trichs. I’m thinking the GH koolbloom is taking hold. I am pleased with the results so far with the end of week 5

This week I started running into undiagnosed issues. I noticed that there was very little water uptake from my reservoir and I wasn’t adding much new water. I also noticed that the leaves were getting very thin. With my limited experience I figured this was end of life business.
