Super excited to get these going. Been seeing great things about wedding cheesecake and fast buds generally. I'm doing one in happy frog that i had left over from my previous grow and the other in some promix bx which my neighbor is letting my try out. I'll likely switch to the promix after this one since its sold locally.
I added some vermiculite and pearlite to the happy frog and went promix straight out of the bag. Last time i added peat moss to my happy frog which i didn't do this time around. I can feel that the HF is a heavier soil. Don't know what that will spell out in the future.
Cheers friends!
Pleasantly surprised w how quickly these popped up. I’ve been giving them a nice spritz twice a day. Not over saturating but trying to not let the surface get completely dry. Humidity level was between 29 and 52 over the first week. First grow I was concerned w keeping the humidity high early in the plants life but I’ve seen some very successful grows that had low relative humidity throughout. So I’m basically only concerning myself w humidity in the flowering phase to prevent mold/mildew. It seems to be high humidity environments that promote most of the bad stuff.
I’m going w a 24 hr light schedule for this grow. Dunno. Just seeing how it goes. Maybe it’s a waste of electricity in the end. Open to input from others on that. I guess I’m fascinated w the idea that a plant could thrive without dark resting periods. I’m not a plant so I can’t really say but I imagine that if I were I’d want time to chill even if I didn’t need to. But perhaps one lighting schedule is better in flowering than vegetative and vice versa. Also worth looking into. Anyway, here’s to week two.
Didn’t update last Sunday so coming up on week 3 (tomorrow). They’re close to having a 3rd node. Gonna top em when they get to 4 or 5. Everything is pretty straight forward at this point. I’m havin to micromanage much less this time around. I think bc it’s a winter grow and it’s much easier to maintain the environment I want than in the summer when temps and humidity go to places I don’t want them. Finding humidity is less a concern than I previously thought so just keeping the temp at 73 and makin sure they don’t get dry. But also wondering if a lower temp causes the plants to grow more slowly. Hmm. I was hoping this would finish mid feb but I’ve seen grows for this plant over 100 days. I’ve got about 3 oz from the previous grow that needs to last me til then!
Happy growing comrades
Sorry for the radio silence! Holidays had me busy. I topped these two at 4 weeks and began giving nutes too. Things are going pretty well. Think I could have started nutes a week or more earlier. Oh well. We’ll see how the topping goes. Also interested in this product myco I started using. My soils already have myco fungus in them but seeing if this boosts root production a bit more. Let you know!
Take care and happy new year to y’all
I’m bad at this journaling stuff! Plants are looking very healthy though. I’ve topped them, LST’d, and defoliated a fair amount. They recovered really well and are starting to grow quickly now. It’s about time. They were going pretty slowly. Just bought the pk booster trio from fox farm. Excited to try those out when the time comes!
Things seem to be popping off good now. First time using open sesame from fox farms. I’m also doing a fair amount of defoliation. Hopefully I’m not overdoing it! Plant seems healthy. No sign of any deficiencies. Also have two orange sherbet above ground now. Will likely use mostly the same techniques for those as I’m using here. At least from my current standpoint!
Plants still looking healthy. No signs of deficiencies. Gonna give the soil a good soaking to wash out any built up salt. Expecting them to start their stretch soon. The buds sites and colas are looking plentiful and strong. I did some very minor lollipopping, just some little ones that wouldn’t amount to anything. Maybe next time I’ll do more lollipopping. Starting to wonder when I should stop defoliating. Been doing some every 5 days or so. The branches are basically too sturdy to do much LST at this point. So pulling leaves is the best i can do for the lower bud sites. Anyone with that kinda knowledge can feel free to chime in.
Hope everyone is doing well
