First pics here are exactly one week from seed. This is a (hopefully) 4 plant grow with 4 different strains. Keeping a separate diary for each. I made some small changes from the last grow. Most notable is I’m using 3/4 RO water as my TDS is coming out of the tap at 300. Seeds are all from herbies outside of the grape ape f2 from bat country farms. Was given those seeds so thought I would give a plant a spin.
The 4 plants are growing in 2 flood tables each with their own reservoir that sits outside the grow room. The room has an air conditioner rigged in, an inkbird for humidity control along with a humidifier and dehumidifier. For lights there are 6 hlg qb96 elite v2 boards, 3 in each frame with 2 meanwell drivers for 480 watts total.
It’s been challenging keeping temps and humidity up. The inline fan is pulling in a lot of cool basement air. I put a timer on that inline so the fan is on for 50 minutes and off for 10. That 10 minutes gets the temp/humidity up and by the time they are coming back down the fan turns off again. Hopefully that solves it.
PH meter needed recalibration this week. Leaves on plants in both reservoirs started twisting and sure enough the meter was off and running ph values of about 5. Other than that she looks fine. I’ll do a res change this week as I haven’t done one yet and it’s due. Probably going to flip the lights in 2-3 weeks.
Day 24 leaves running a little dark and even a couple burnt tips. Seems to be a little too hot at 0.82 Ec which is surprising, but 2 different strains seem to have the same attitude about that level. I’m going to ease it off slightly.
The sugar candy is a bit bigger than the passion fruit at this point.
Day 28 looking pretty good and tolerating higher Nute levels well. Roots look great, nice and white. Will be topping soon.
Starting the week by topping. I’m usually a little paranoid and wait until they are well established. This is sharing a res with a sugar candy strain and both are doing great. Lux is now up to 28k at the top of the canopy and will likely let it go to the low 30’s. Planning to flip the lights at 6 weeks.
Put the scrog netting up today and anticipating a light flip in the next week or so. Plants are consuming nutrients very quickly. They are so thick and dense here that I turned the lights down a little to induce some stretching. Also started defoliating.
Flipped the lights 2 days into the week but we are going to call this a veg week anyway. Plant looks healthy, and I’ve started defoliating a little more heavily. The scrog is up and ready. The evil plan is finally coming together.
This is sharing a res with a sugar candy strain. This is the runt of the res. Think it will provide just fine though.
Scrog is set up and lights are flipped. I changed the res and doing a day of pure ph’d water. I want to get any salt buildup out of the medium before we really get going with flower. Also calibrated the ph pen and changed the pre-filter sleeve for the carbon filter. Optimistic at the moment. Everything looking good.
Have some of the bud sites well below the canopy from doing LST. Hoping that stretch up a bit to get everything flat on the scrog. Dropped the lights and peak lux is about 50k at the canopy.
Buds are starting to grow together a bit but still a little whispy. Not really any brown yet, and lots of new white hairs sprouting so I think we have a ways to go probably 3 weeks.
Been fighting calcium deficiencies for a couple weeks. She flat out can’t seem to get enough. Her sister sharing a reservoir was just chopped which has been good for exposing some buds that were shaded, and those are now showing pistil growth. Trichomes are as clear as glass mostly so she still probably has a good couple weeks.
Been a little disappointed with this one size wize. They just aren’t bulking up well. There have been some obvious calcium issues which might be part of it.
Getting close to done here. I’m trying a flush with this one. I know there is some controversy about whether this makes any sense, but thought I would experiment and see if there is any difference. Looking at this plant I think the yield in ounces is going to be solid, but without enormous buds to look good in the bag.
I was pretty happy with this strain. It’s smooth and mellow with a fairly strong head high, but a very alert one. Makes me want to do yard work at least insofar as I would ever want to do yard work.
