30 minutes soaking in a glass of water, straight to presoaked and strained BioBizz Coco-Mix, three days later the seedling showed up. Waiting for the roots to find their way to the water in the bottom before introducing him to the DWS I have diluted the Hesi stuff, the StarterBox is highly dis-balanced / insufficient for a full growth as you will eventually run out of some parts of it earlier than others, so I have changed the ratios to stretch it over one full run without the need to buy more, well except for the blooming stuff (1 liter provided, 3.5 needed...)

First time growing and going straight for hydroponic, no risk no fun right? 😉 Both plants can finally call a 140 liters DWS their home, I really do hope they gonna like it 😅 The leaves started to look a bit pale and weak on day 4 so I have lowered the water level, raised the PH to 6 and doubled the distance to the lamps.

New week new luck, still running on the same nutrients added last week, misting the leaves with it a couple of times a day. He seems to be recovering from last weeks stress as the new leaves are looking better :) Added a bigger fan to the setup on day 2 and misted the leaves a lot with nutrient solution he doesn't seem to like the misting so I guess I gotta stop with it The week comes to an end and I'm quite happy with the progress

Top him or not? It's my first time grow ever, so would you say it is advisable to do that and when is a good time to do so?

If it is a photoperiod topping is ideal. If it is a autoflower just do lst. If growing in coco coir add perlite to mix. Also have calmag available. Probably due for a bigger planter looks like soon. Good luck and happy growing. Would wait on doing anything till it perks up. 🌲🌲👊

My two tiny plants have access to 100 liters of water with nutrients added according to the schedule of the producer (Hesi). But the ratio of water to plants is very different comparing to smaller scaled hydroponics. Is there a rule of thumb or such?

Yes the plants use nutrients that are in the water to Grow. But there is no direct correlation between what you "feed" and what they "eat"... Like it's not like Feeding animals were you have know there gobbling up all there kibble and you can see the end results.. Growing has multiple variables.. And plants start small and grow bigger.. As they grow the need for Nutrients and water grows proportionately but the need for water is a huge part of what makes plants grow.. Iv'e seen other say things' like too much water.. But how can too much water be the issue when people are growing in Water(hydroponics).. Water is never the issue unless your water is "bad" to begin with .. Water is such a crucial part of the whole process and what lights you use and where you hang them has the biggest impacts on what you actually yield. Nutrients are a part of it sure.. But Water and Light are the biggest X factors.

Those solutions (like Hesi Hydro Growth) seem to be ridiculously overpriced, like 10€ for 1 liter fertilizer solution which consists of mostly water itself is a total ripoff in my understanding. Is there a substitute for those heavily overpriced nutrient solutions?

Sure, I am growing them myself to have a cheap and reliable source of clean herbs, besides proofing that I am able to. So being able to produce as cheap as possible is just another proof of proficiency. I have checked the bottle label, it says 2.6% N, 1.9% P and 3.6% K plus some further elements. It surely is quality fertilizer but yet again massively overpriced, the same goes to other brands too. We are talking like 10 cents worth of base materials per liter or so and it's far away from the complexity of a car, just have a look at the number of people of Hesi, it's extended family lol. So, did anyone mix it themselves or at least found a much cheaper solution than buying those pseudo cannabis mixes? PS: You can grow plants in aquaponics with more or less fish poo, no need for getting a degree in something

He is really on a run, the growth is massive. I wonder if I should apply any technique to optimize the grow soon. Btw. it's still growing with the first batch of nutrients from week 1 😁

He is growing af, I wonder how much longer before he hits flowering I still didn't add any nutrients other than the initial amount when I first set up the reservoir and I still can't see any signs of malnutrition yet. But TDS seems to be low for late veg / early flower, so I will wait for the Lemon to start flowering and then make a batch of fresh water and nutrients, but latest next week Day 4: I have made a fresh batch of water as the Lemon started to bloom

Well, I guess I was wrong thinking that the Lemon started flowering, it just keeps on growing. It actually scares me a bit 😅 Day 36 and no signs of flowering, Seedsman claims 2,5 months from seed to harvest, so it seems to be about time ^^ Day 38 Lol, I guess it is flowering as the main stem seems to stretch, so I am positive that he is in transition Day 39 I finally have found female preflowers, not sure if I have just been blind before, but here we go - Also I needed to start trimming to keep that monster in check 😬 Day 40 One word, bush 😂 Day 42 Getting a hair cut 😇

The Lemon started to show more and more signs of malnutrition, so I have been busy identifying and solving what appears to me to be a Magnesium deficiency 02/06 So far I assume I caused it by not taking enough care about the humidity so I have dialed it down to like 50-55% from around 65%, I hope that will improve the nutrient uptake

02/08 I have added about 100g Magnesium Sulfat and 25 liters fresh PH adjusted water, so hopefully that will remove the two possible explanations nutrient burn and Magnesium deficiency Since like 10 days, around the time the Lemon started flowering and I have started to remove some leaves in the bottom and to the sides to keep the monster grow in check, the leaves of the middle to top of the plant started to turn yellow and eventually dry out. Even after adjusting PH, temperatures and humidity as well as adding some epsom salts, the problem keeps on spreading - What am I missing? 02/12 Change of waters with 50% of what Hesi recommends at this stage, I have also turned off some lights to reduce the light stress and see if the Lemon will recover

02/15 Healthy wonder boy became kind of a problem child which needs to be monitored every day now to see if things are getting better or worse. Spraying with Epsom salt solution (0.5g per 250ml) Added 15g Magnesium Sulfate and 21g Calcium Nitrate to the nutrient solution of like 80 liters, that should be enough to prevent any deficiencies of Cal/Mag if there are any but also not be too much to do any harm 02/18 Fan leaves are dying, but buds are swelling, so whatever, should be ready to harvest in 2-3 weeks tops anyways 😁

Buds are growing and the plant is getting really dry so I have cut plenty of fan leaves and made tea 😁 It's my first time growing, so I am trying to get the timing for the harvest right There are still a lot of white hairs and I cannot find any amber trichomes yet, so I guess this one maybe needs a little longer

It was my first time growing, so I made many mistakes, but she managed to stay alive. I got surprised by how big she got that gave me some headaches among her drying out over time, probably because of light/heat stress. Having a big plant like that and also being auto flowering was overwhelming at times, as there is little one can do to keep the plant in check. So for beginners I'd rather recommend either a photoperiod or if it needs to be auto-flowering rather take a (or some) smaller auto like my Pink Kush grows, they are easier to handle. In the end I got rewarded with a decent harvest thou.
