windsurfer Plant 3 - Day 18 and so it begins...
The plants have been so short that I found it hard to find an open spot to top them this week. I wanted to compare topping and not topping as an experiment.
I'll take one more look but everything is happening quickly.
I dropped the humidity to 40-50% by running just one small room humidifier in the tent.
1, 2 and HH are 4 ". 3 is 6".
NOTE: lights could be closer. Try 10-12" next grow. CHECK
Heating mat under plants. CHECK. TURNED OFF ONCE BASEMENT REACHED 60+ DEGREES.
BROWN SPOTS -1 PLANT SPREAD TO SECOND - SOLUTION REMOVE LEAVES AFFECTED AND NO MISTING. REDUCED HUMIDIFIERS TO 1
Spotted leaves occur when fungal spores in the air find a warm, wet, plant surface to cling to. As soon as that microscopic spore gets comfortable in its new home, sporulation (the fungal method of reproduction) occurs and the tiny brown fungal leaf spot begins to grow.
TODAY I TOOK 2 CLONES FROM JH (26 DAYS).

windsurfer Quite a bit of variation. 1 and 2 are only 9" tall. 3 is clearly more sativa dominant. It also is the only plant that got nute burn. HH has the most buds from what I can tell. HH continues to mature later after a tough start.

windsurfer I'm disappointed with the height of my plants, I'm very happy with their health and fast growth though. My hope is to get three ounces dry after this grow. The total turnaround time from seed to harvest is 13 weeks, allowing four harvests per year.
I haven't done any aggressive training on the plants, just light LST and defoliation. I've been using basic nutrients at recommended levels till the Nute Burn Incident (plant 3 is now "CC", Crispy Critter). Since then, I've been diluting the recommended levels with 50 and now 30 percent ph'd water.
I'm wondering what went wrong. Possible causes include:
- Cold roots? - I used a seedling mat under 1 and 2 till Week 3. The grow tent is 24" above the concrete floor which has an SUV trunk mat and 6 inches of insulation over it.
Solution: I reset the electric oil radiator closer to "4" than "3". I moved my thermometer to the floor - it's about 4 degrees cooler on the floor of the tent than at the top. The floor temperature is now 78.

windsurfer 3 is still suffering nute burn, even with a 50/50 nute/h2o mix. Lots of orange/brown pistils on most but not all bud sites. Trichomes mostly clear.
USING 1 TSP OF EA. AND NO NUTE BURN. 1 STILL NOT FLOWERING, THREE MID FLOWER AND ONE LATE FLOWER. MARIA HAS 1 ONE WINDOW LEDGE. NORTHERN LIGHTS GREW BETTER THAN ALL THE WW.
JH PHOTO IS GROWING LIKE CRAZY - JUST TOPPED WEEK 3.

windsurfer "The ideal root zone temp for cannabis plants is around 75°F" CHECK
"optimal temperature is between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius." - I'm at 11.
"1.5 to 2.5 gallons is optimal for eight-week auto-flowering plants. The container size is important – too small, and it will have a negative impact on your yield" - no more wasted space with 5-gallon bags.
NOW AT 10 WEEKS AND STILL NOT QUITE READY. mUSHROOM HEADS ARE STARTING TO GET CLOUDY. NO AMBER.
jh TOPPED 2X NOW (WEEK 5). CLONES IN MIST ROOM FOR 10 DAYS AND GOING OUTSIDE TODAY.
Just planted a white widow auto last week. I'm also running similar temps and light cycles to yours. I'll keep an eye on how yours turn it. Best of luck brother
