Cannerd So excited to finally get these seeds that I won. I've seen some pics of the parent genetics that formed these beans, so I definitely have high hopes!
I left it in the papertowel for about 2 ish days to crack the seed. Threw her right into the soil, 2 cup starter pot with perlite already mixed in, and away we went.
The cotyledons were a pain in the ass to begin with, as you'll notice that one of them didn't want to open up. When forming, the leaf must have been told to curl the wrong way lol... Not to worry though, where there's a will, there's a way!
The fast growth rate really helped with the corrective process I used. Every 4-8 hours, I would rotate the seedling slightly so that it would receive light from the side rather than the top. My hopes was to get the first set of leaves to grow out by the side instead of continuing to push through.
I did double check near the end of the week with a razor to make sure that there wasn't an invisible stem stopping the cotyledons from opening, but sure enough it was just being an ass.
Finally, you'll see that the technique worked by the end of the week!

Cannerd Isn’t she lovely!? Isn’t she wonderful?
Her growth-rate is insane even for a seedling. I was a little worried at the start of the week, looking at the first set of leaves coming out through the cotyledons. I always stress myself out and spend extra time trying to avoid “leggy” seedlings. As you can see later in the week, I put those concerns to rest haha.
Having that new QB just pumping out the photons and making them available is making a big difference I believe!
