Hi fellow growers. I used the paper towel method for germination. One is a Dutch Passion Power Plant and the other is from a local seed bank called Costal Genetics which I don’t recommend but it is my backup seed. I am using a 50/50 mix of Sohum living soil and Jiffy seed starter. I am watering about every 3-4 days. This is my first Serious Soil grow. I’ve ran 2 seasons of DWC with success but I am Tired of all the daily maintenance of Hydro So I’m trying this all in one living soil to help with all the damn work it takes to run Hydro.
This is end of week 3. I potted up both plants but Dutch passion seemed to not be ready because her roots where not as developed. I’ve decided to go with a Mainline topping to the 3rd node.
I’m continuing to top Costal genetics and train her into a Mainline. Dutch Passion is always a step behind and might have had a little transplant shock at first but Is now doing very well.
I decided to take out the Costal Genetics because of space and finish her outside. Im keeping Dutch Passion in and planted up to her 5 gal final container nicely and the next day decided to super crop her main branches. I realize I’m a little late on the super crop but I’m hoping on her recovering in time for the flip. I also noticed some yellowing on the leaves I think it’s water log issues because she is drinking every 2 days with the 2 gallon pot so her new home should help resolve this issues. I am also spraying her down every week to 2 weeks with a neem/soap mix for my IPM.
I’ve been worried about the continuing of yellowing on the big leaves that started before I transplanted her to final pot. She is recovered now and growing beautifully. The shape is really starting to show and is just a week away from flip. I’ve LST all 8 branches for the mainline to really spread out those Colas and get the best out of the Mars ts 1000 light that I possibly can.
I accidentally broke a stem while training but quickly braced and taped it up. She looks good and ready to flip. I’m giving it a few more days 5 total to flip so she can recover from the shock of the broken branch.
If she is growing normally and doesn't seem stunned then I'd go for it. Just make sure that you support the branch well so it can handel the stretch and buds.
She is looking really fine :)
Happy growing!
I put in a plant trainer to help me keep the main colas near the light, It will also help with holding the added weight of the flowers to come. She is stretching about half an inch to an inch a day. She is beginning to fill the the 5gal pot and drinks twice a week about 1.25 gal each time. She is looking very healthy and I can’t weight to see how big she gets. As far as space the extra 12 inches in height for this 2x2x5 helps a lot compared to my first tent at 2x2x4. Now there is plenty of room for her to grow vertically and I don’t need to spread her out too far from the light. Next week I will start applying a ring of diatomaceous earth around the pot to help prevent any pests as well as a spray bottle with soap and water just in case I see any bugs on my leaves.
Hi!!! So this plant has stretched a good 6-7 inches this week and has started to move to bud development. During the week I snipped off all the lower 4 nodes and branches except for the leaves. I noticed a little mold in the soil so I covered it in diatomaceous earth and let the soil dry an extra day. I also moved the fan to the bottom of the tent and pointed it up to circulate the air from the bottom and to help dry the top layer of soil faster. I also installed a fan to circulate air on the top of the colas so they don’t burn from the light but this fan will turn off with the lights and the bottom fan will stay on 24/7. It’s looking good any input helps.
End of week 3. Day 21 of flower and she is starting to build some nice looking buds, This is an impressive strain. Some of the branches are a little shorter due to a branch injury sustained during the last week of veg. I moved the light to 16 inches from the tallest cola so she gets a good amount of light on all leaves.
Very happy so far with this grow. Resin production is top quality and is wet to the touch. I sprayed her with a Dr.Z citric acid foiler spray mostly on the bottom leaves for you infestation prevention. I am very happy so far 🔥!!!
Colas are getting thicker and hairs starting to turn brown. This plant is starting to smell like a skunky musty scent with a hint of citrus, the resin is sticky like elmers glue. I’m excited to see her ripen in the next few weeks
This one is almost done. One more week or so and she’s ready to hang dry. The Trichomes are cloudy with some amber however the bottom of the cola are milky with some translucent indicating that another week is necessary for full development throughout the cola. The smell is very strong like a herbaceous skunk smell that penetrates through any container like the old school medical shop cannabis from the 2000’s. It’s been a while since I’ve smoked anything like that, top shelf on top of the top shelf, personal grower only shelf 😎. I’m glad I took the care and time to grow myself... Very excited!!!
Just saw my pictures on Dutch Passion.com and am proud to be the guy who grew those plants for everyone to enjoy. I hope everyone enjoys the mainline I did in soil for this power plant grow. Thanks!!!!! Pictures and links up above. Here’s a link though. https://dutch-passion.com/en/blog/top-5-strains-for-a-hot-and-humid-climate-n1036
