Hi!
My 3th grow. First one was a 6 plant Haze Auto run. Second one was my first photoperiod-run with Shogun and Critical strains.
The setup is simple DIY stuff. Basement. Small room. 3-4 600w lamps. fluorescent lamps for seedlings, HID for veg, and HPS for flower.
Standard bulkNPK fertilizer that regular farmers use. Nothing can beat 25kilo bag for 50 dollars. Gonna last me forever.
Intake fan with fresh air coming in low from one side, and exhaust fan placed high in the opposite side of the room.
The plan is to keep 1.3 EC in excess water troughout the hole run. Watering as much as i need to get ca 10% runoff every 1-3 days.
Sidegoal for this run is to get good routine and disipline of meusurements of PH and EC. And strict documentation of the results.
The goal for this run is 75gram per plant/0.8g per watt. My last run was 55grams per plant/0.6g per watt.
More updates coming! Hit me with questions if you want to!
Week 1:
Seeds germ in darkness at 23c (73F) and 65% RH. 25% soil 25% Peat and 50% Vermiculite. Directly into pre-watered medium.
25 seeds. The goal is 80+% Germ-rate. Exact set-up depends on number of plants.
This week i be prepping/fixing setup of growroom. And putting seedlings under fluorescent lamps as they sprout.
Update: Day 3 of germ, and 8/25 have sprouted.
Update: Day 3 of germ, and 15/25 have sprouted.
Update: Day 4 of germ and 22/25 have sprouted! So 88% germ-rate in just 4 days.
Update: Day 5 and one have germ'd but died. and still waiting on 1. But 23/25 make's germ result to 92%!
Been watering with spray 1-2 times a day. The medium is drying out really fast. Getting the temp up
to 25c and keping RH at 65%. Soon i will get some pic's up!
Second week!
Yesterday i soaked the medium all trough with water and put the ladies under the 600w.
The stretching has stopped, the first true leaves is growing fast and the plants are 8-12cm.
Testing PH and EC for the first time. Runoff was 0.5 EC with a PH of 6.7. The exact same PH
as our tapwater btw. Im gonna test the runoff one more time tomorow, and after that
starting to nute them. gradually raising the EC to 1.3.
My plan is to keep higher temp and RH this run, but water them more often, and not push
nutes as hard as i did before. More focus on keeping the PH in the right range than overfeeding
them.
Day 11: First day of nutes. EC. solution 0.7 runoff 1.1 Temp 22c. PH. solution 6.3. Runoff 5.7.
Next feed im adding dolomite to raise the PH in the runoff.
The ladies look healthy, but a little bit stretchy, and we got 2pair of true leaves on almost all the plants!
Start of Week 3. 14 days since the seeds got into the medium. 10-11 days from sprout.
Second nute today. Bought som Bicarbonate from the supermarket to raise the PH.
Runoff was PH 6.8 and EC 1.3. EC is to high, my plan was to raise it slowly. To late :) See how they react to it.
topdressed with some more vermiculite and took the lamp down 10cm. Temp and Hum is still at ca 25c and 60RH.
3rd pair of leaves is forming and the ladies seams happy!
Update: No problem with the girls after yesterdays overfeeding. Phew!
A turbulent and problem-filled week so far.
After being filled out with roots in their original container i transplanted them gals into their final 18L pots some days ago.
I made a big mistake. Ive grown only in soil before, and before i soaked the medium alltrough with water
before transplant with good results. But the vermiculite holds water much much better than soil. With the result that i got drooping plants struggling in pots with to much water not drying out. Lesson learned.
So now im just waiting for the pots to dry out and continue with regular feeding schedule.
This time around my plan is/was to skip the tents and make the whole small room into my growspace. In theory i think i made a good desision. Fresh air with intake- fan low in one side, exhaust high in other side. But in reality i bumped into a lot of problems that im still struggling with.
First of all the air intake. temp outside is to low with RH of just 15-20%. its was a mess. Went away from home 6 hours and the fan was a big blob of solid ice, and tubes covered in ice and snow. ouch.
I made that my exhaust instead. And the air out is now my air-intake instead.
But the RH in the room is still to low. My humidifier runs 24/7 without solving the issue. So now im drying all the familys laundry in the growroom to try to push RH up. :)
My next problem is my temp/hygro sensors/wheaterstation. Yea i know, cheap one from amazon, but they worked without problem earlier in the grow. I also tested them with good results. But now they show 35-40c with the same RH as before i switched the intake. And the plants dont show signs of heat/light stress. It dosent feel to hot with my hands. And my termostat, and the sensor from the fan, plus to other termometers shows temps of 25-27c. And the girls got a gentle breeze.
Any ideas why the sensors all of a sudden shows inaccurate results? Anyway. I trust my looks and my other sensors/temps as long as the plants seams fine.
In terms of growth and health of the plants i got a clear winner so far. Girl Scout Cookies. They are all far ahead of all the other 4 strains. They are where i suspect they should be right now despite my problems. 5-6 nodes. Healthy. Looking great.
Black sugar is 2-3 nodes behind with 1/3-1/6 in size compared to the GSC. Small and slow.
AlienRockCandy looks great, but are 1-2 nodes behind GSC and about 1/3 in size compared to GSC.
GelatOG is the clear nr 2. Looks good, just behind the GSC.
WonderWoman have 1 plant in good size, the rest are like 1/4 in size, and one is mutated. Main branch got "stuck" in second node, and then started to grow horizontaly. It looks nothing like normal development.
If the slow progress continues, GSC, and maybe GelatOG, is the only ones im gonna grow again.
Day 24 from sprout:
I gave them nutes at 1.2 EC despite the pots still being moist from my earlyier mistake.
Big gals 1l and the small ones 5-7dl. They have reacted very well to that. Happy about that!
Day 25 from sprout:
Topped all the girls today that had grown 5-6 nodes. They look great.
I been spraying the growroom/plants like 5-6 times a day with a sprayer to get the RH up with good results. Last week's
trouble have turned around to feiling much more stable now. My gut tells me im ca 1 week after in development becouse
of the troubles ive had. But now the girls are coming strong!
Day 26 from sprout:
Girls reacted fantastic to the topping. Im seeing an explotion in growth last 36 hours. Had to raise my lights today.
Right now i have 3 600w lamps with the pots in 3 rows under.
Day 28 from sprout:
Finally some pictures!
Day 29 from sprout:
Removed first node on the topped plants so now all plants have 8 primary future budsites.
May top some one more time to get 12 where its appropriate.
Day 30 from sprout:
LST-day! Pics!
