Royal Dwarf - First Grow

First grow. Seed germinated well after a few days, sprouted yesterday and seedling has shot up today. Seed is currently in the kitchen under the grow light, in large nursery bag, transplating to larger pot and build dedicated grow area this week - materials incoming! Day 3-4 - have been playing around with the light distance to find a balance, initially light seemed too far at around 24’’ (manufacturers guidance) as seedling was stretching a lot, so brought it within 6’’ but looks like I overcooked as it started displaying signs of what looks like light burn. Caught it quickly so hopeful that damage is limited. I’ve settled on around 12’’ which is giving around 4000 lux. Second set of leaves are just starting to grow.

Second set of leaves coming through nicely. Got a bit carried away with the light last week and first two leaves suffered minimal light burn but seem to have got that in check now, by increasing distance to lamp. Grow box built over the weekend and plant transplanted from nursery bag to permanent pot. A bit of stress for the little lady over the last week but seems to be going strong. Looking forwards to seeing how she develops.

Week 3 - leaves growing in nicely, little lady is doing very well. Have started adding bio-bizz grow @ 1ml/l and watering schedule is about 500ml every 36hours. Also adding in some air from a standing fan to the grow box to prevent mould growth, as has the potential to become quite stale. Enjoying seeing her grow so quickly, looking forward to the next couple of weeks development.

Have started some LST this week to open up the bud sites, seems to be doing ok but really is a dwarf. Continuing to feed with 1ml bio bizz grow and will start her on bloom next week. Has started to develop a smell as well.

She’s really benefitting for the LST, with the canopy starting to fill out, growth has increased dramatically this week and has started flowering. Currently feeding 1ml/l bio-bizz grow and 1ml/l bio-bizz bloom, however have backed off the watering a bit as was showing signs of nute burn on a few tips and also had an increase of fungus gnats, due to poor drainage, so am trying to get that under control. Smell has increased and is smelling ace. All in all a good week for her.

Have missed a few weeks diaries, she’s flowering up beautifully. Was hoping the grow would be a bit quicker but think there’s another 2-3 weeks for flowering until she’s ready to harvest. No problems, has been a relatively easy grow so far for my first.

Week 11 and she’s nearly ready, buds are dense, sticky and coated in resin, waiting for them to fatten up a bit more but have begun to flush preparing to harvest in the next 10 days. Excited to finally see the results in a few weeks once’s she’s harvested and dried.

Plant was flushed, given a light trim and harvested. Could potentially have left for the buds to fatten for another week but had cut her this week for various reasons. Weighed 150g wet, mostly decent size buds but a few popcorns. Now to dry out and see what we’re left with 😃

Dried out well, currently curing. Have yet to sample but will do this week. Smell is pleasant and mild, quite sweet. Once ground the skunk smell comes through. Buds are well formed, could potentially have been denser and fatter, but for a first grow I’m pleased with the result - all a learning curve. Will try another grow later this year and see if I can improve.
