I let the new tops grow in just a bit and decided to flip yesterday, 3/5. Normally I’d let this plant veg for another week or two but I need this plant to be finishing up by early May. We’ll see how these smaller tops stretch and hopefully the yield doesn’t suffer much. I’ve adjusted feed for the transition to flower and we’ll see how she responds. I also removed some of the larger fan leaves to expose the smaller new growth to the light. My HPS lamp runs at 600 watts, so things will be a little warmer in the tent going forward. Next weeks update will be the first full week of flowering.
@Gardenofweeden, you may be right, though this particular pheno didn’t have those big fat flowers like many other BD phenos I’ve seen. Looking at some of those other ones, 8 tops seemed like plenty. Ordinarily I would veg longer, but I needed the harvest to be done by a certain time in this case.
Good luck with DWC grow 😀 How is the water temperature? I want to try DWC next time too but I was reading that water temperature is the main issue (too high) and the roots will not grow and RIP.
@grzesiekkuzniak, I think that is the biggest lesson I have learned with this DWC grow. I switched to a sterile approach and since then I’ve had things dialed in. I change my water every week and use UC Roots, and I swap buckets each week with a fresh, clean bucket. After that if you just track pH and ppm and top off accordingly, it’s a stupid simple way to grow and I’m never doing it another way.
@iLoveGoodWeed,,if u change water frequently you can have temps up to 25 C and nothing will rot and no hydroguard needed..................dwc is about keeping it clean and not let water oxidize too much ...................too cold aint good too btw..........💩
@grzesiekkuzniak, I also found some adhesive cable clips that I’m going to attach to my bucket lid so I can more effectively train my plant, while also being able to move the lid and plant from one bucket to another.
@grzesiekkuzniak, early on in the grow I fashioned a little cardboard disc to cover the clay pebbles and keep light out of the reservoir and I wrapped it in tin foil and taped it to the bucket. It’s super janky but it’s working. I found some 1/4” thick neoprene sheeting I’ll use next time that has an adhesive backing and I’ll cut to my specs. Should be much less ridiculous looking.
