What a way to start off my first grow. In another journal I started I had Cotton Candy which alas never cracked, Old stubborn seeds that wouldn't give back no matter how I tried. (Cup of water, paper towel and even Hydrogen Peroxide for a time). gave up after 10 days
I tried my luck with an old Blue Dream seed, it had already been 5 days in a paper towel with no signs so I threw her in some peroxide for 12 hours. Thinking it wasn't going to come through I prepared with one of my new Three Blue King seeds. Planted both in Peat Pellets
And alas, they both came through, albeit helmet heads but helped them out.
I normally grow in Coco and plant the seed straight into it with no problems. First time Peat Pelleting and probably watered it too much/let them sit in it for too long. n00b move.
Finally got the second gal pot and irrigation setup towards the end of the week and transplanted both pellets in. Looking happier already
Noticed some curling at the base of the first set of adults. Thinking its a combination of overwatering and too intense a light. The blumats require a thoroughly wet substrate before installing and this may have as a result waterlogged the poor bugger. Im thinking it's less likely the light which is at 24" giving around 270 PPFD for the seedling (as per manufacturers ratings). Will leave it for abit and see what happens.
Anyone with any ideas?
Got axed by the weather this week.
Aussie weather in Sydney decided to turn it up with consistent 45+ degC (114 Farenheit) daytime temperatures for around 10 days straight no matter what I tried. Barely dipped below 27degC at night. Stunted both seedlings. New growth barely able to keep up with older leaves crispying up. Had no option to bring inside the house either. Sad times
Both an air cooler to try and blow some cooler air over the tops which I think helped slow down the burn process.
LED kept at 60cm above, ran at 100% to in order to the get LUX/PPFD to adequate level
uipdate: Halfway into the next week with some welcome respite from the weather, will update at the end of week 3
Lumatek lowered to 30cm above canopy for an avg. 700+ PPFD at the centre. Plants responded well and didn't show any signs of light burn - Three Blue Kings responded with some rapid growth
Blue Dream recovered nicely atfter bringing it indoors and under a desklamp LED light. Ending up being upotted to its final resting position
Three Blue Kings continued to display solid growth. She let me introduce some LST this week after a top
